Thanks for the advice and support ladies! This is such a difficult predicament I am in. I went to sleep with it on my mind, I woke with it on my mind, and I just dont know what our best option is. I prayed about it asking God to show give me the understanding for this situation so that I may know what it is He wants us to do.

The DCF thing would be great if I could jut stay in the States and file it, with an intent to move to JA. I just feel lost about all the plans that we made now. We wanted to file CR1 and have him come here first and within 2 years or so move back to Jamaica with a better financial plan. We're not really rushed for him to get here cause he has a good job in Jamaica that will benefit him greatly if he stays on it and transfers here in a year. My concern is that I dont know if I want to continue in my career field anymore, with all these changes in my job, my resume is beginning to look choppy and I dont look dependable.

I think of just renting my house and moving to JA, doing what I do here out there....I'm in architecture and design. I could look into contracting with one of the developers for the hotel and condo industry in Jamaica, but I dont know. Augh!!!

It makes me so sad to know that i could've just stayed in JA a bit longer this last trip, and been able to figure stuff out there with Evan beside me. Now I am stuck in a budget crisis and not knowing when I can afford to go back, or file my paperwork. His pay can support him, there but adding me to it, will be a daily struggle, adding the cost of visa fees, police cert, medical reports, etc in the US dollar will definitely be above his budget so even though Evan is great at supporting me when I am there, he cannot support our visa endeavor.

Nannygirl and AlienUKgirl, you are both right....I need to sit back and access the pros and cons of the situation. I think I have been thinking conventionally of our situation when it is all but conventional. I thought I would just have my great job working for a company and file my visa and sit and wait for his arrival. But maybe I need to give myself a kick start and do what really makes me happy....which isnt working for someone else. Evan I am are both focused on living a life pleasing to God and flexible and happy. Jamaica has our heart and would be our ideal place to live and there are so many people who live there in great conditions, even better than I live in California, you just have to be smart about how you do it. So I guess its back to the drawing board for us in figuring out what to do next. :star:

Hey Marlita, sorry to hear all that you are going through, but as Romans 8:28 says "And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose." I will be praying for you and with you during this time that He will make the way clear for you.

THIS WEEKEND:

I'll be resting and trying to heal so I can go back to work (since it looks like my doctor isn't taking me off of bedrest). Boring boring :(

Time for some good movies for the weekend!

I concur. I rented the entire 1st season of Heroes and have been watching it. I love that show!!! Does anyone know when the season starts?

I (L) Heroes!!! The new season starts next Monday at 9. I'll watch it online on Tuesday because nothing comes before Girlfriends and The Game on CW :lol:

Hi Marlita,

I agree w/everyone else on this matter weigh out your options and see what is best for you. Also please double check w/the Embassy if they do DCF b/c in 2005 I was told they discontinued that service. I think I was talking to Shemanya about it, I don't quite remember.

Anna - I don't think it was me because I don't know much about DCF.

My dear, spell it the way it sounds. They have a little booklet on "How to speak Jamaican". Also, I heard in the UK they are offering a formal class in Patois as a second language.

I would love a class like that! I'd sign up for sure

He is thinking that I could get an apt and then we both work on finding a house when he comes up.

That sounds like a good idea. You could try to find an apartment that will let you rent month to month instead of signing a long lease. It would be really nice for you guys to do that as a couple instead of YOU picking out the house that BOTH of you will live in. Trust me, Tony is happy that now we have OUR house. He had to live in MY house the first 3 years he was here! ;)

The only kind we can get here in Michigan is the tin ackee. I don't like it as much, but sometimes when I'm craving it, I'll eat it! Last time we bought it, we paid about $12 or 13 for a can :( It was worth it though.
