Actually the Embassy could make a LOT of money if they offered this service  I would pay $100 to get it that same day. When Tony had his interview (almost 3 yrs ago now) there was no Airpak to deliver it. We had to drive all the way back to Kingston again to get it. I would definately pay more money just for the conveniance.

They totally would. I remember when I went through the process, you did the interview in the morning and picked up the passport in the afternoon.

Sarah - So happy for you and Marlon. God Bless you both and I wish you the best with your upcoming wedding and marriage. :D:yes:

Just want to say thanks to all the vj members. You all have been an inspiration in helping me achieving an approval the on 09/11/07. please see the complete review below.

We arrived about 6:00am and started waiting in line. We were called in about 7:00 am went in after clearing security. We went to windo 12A dropped of papers tax return, no Impediment, Ds230 Part II, Ds156, Ds 156k, DS157, I 134 with job letter and pay stubbs along with bank statements. My income was a little below for 2006 I was able to use savings and 401k to supplement income. We were then call to windo 16A for finger prints. Was told to wait for name to be called. About 8:35 was called to Windo #22A. We handed in the bank statement since they were not asked for at the first window. Was told to go sit far away while they interview my fiance'. He was asked where we met, the name and age of my kids, How often we talk on the phone, How often I visited, We filed for me to go to America and Why was I divorced from my first husband. My fiance' stumbled on the divorce details and I was called to window #22A to be interviewed alone. Was asked the same questions but Officer was concern that we did not discussed my previous divorce in details. I have been divorced for over 14 years and had several relationships after so did not know that I should tell my fiance' all the dirty details. My fiance' told me that his heart was racing like a car engine. He was called back to window and was asked to give in his passport. She then stated fill out pink paper and we were told to go to airpak accross the street We hugged and kissed and was walking on cloud nine. Wedding date is planned for October 17, 2007. Hoping visa is received in two weeks.

Congrats! im up here smiling just reading your story!!

K.,

That's going to be you in a few weeks!! Aren't you just bursting with excitement...I'm not even in this relationship...but I SOOOOOO excited for you!!! I CAAN WAIT !!!! :D

Gill

Im nervous, hes nervous !!! why did he tell me you cant come to my interview go to yours and ill go to mine lol i just laughed i said silly its not separate like that its like crazy stuff i dont remember like if they asked me whats his kids birtdays i dont know that stuff by heart and he keeps forgetting i have a sister lol i said i have a sister he says no u dont lol he is funny. im gonna really have to remember as his kids names are the same pretty much! chriseanna and christeanna!!! i say ok that sounds the same

Yes Girl, I hear you!!!! It has GOT to be nerve racking to say the least!! But I have all the faith that you will be just fine in the end!!:thumbs: You know in your heart you and O'mar were meant to be and like I always say, Who JAH bless NO man can curse!!! JAH put you two together and he wouldn't drop you now...Just have faith! (L)(L)

Gill

Thanks Gill!!! you always give me such encouragement and keep my spirits up. It seems since we are in the home stretch its so much stress and arguing going on. Im just gonna try relax and be calm!!!!!! im a worrier at heart and i know i need to be more relaxed. Last weekend i was shopping for his interview outfit! i got two ! just in case i have no idea what ill wear im thinking about going down on the 11th early and come back the day after i also want to fly back with him if we get thru!! so id be turnin around and goin back

K.,

Never forget in essence you are both arguing for the same thing...your togetherness!!! So just see with him at times and ask him to do the same for you! I totally hear you on going back. I really wanted to do that with Ken. But, I'm not sure...my main reason is when he comes through JFK I NEED him to make sure he gets that approval to work stamp!! And I think he will be so overwhemled by the trip he might forget!

Anyway, back to you! I know it is so much easier said than done to say relax, don't worry. But seriously try to look at it like this...This is both of your opportunities to tell the people who have made you jump through hoops to get to this point why the two of you WILL BE together. Tell dem your story Girl!! Be proud to tell them every last crazy detail they want to know!! YOU WILL BE FINE, K.!!! I know right now it seems like you don't know Jack...but trust me when push comes to shove...You'll be surprised how much you remember!!

Love you, (L)

Bless-Bless,

Gill

P.S. - I am going to need you to copy, paste and save this ish somewhere cause in 4-5 months you are going have to talk me down from the ceiling!!!! LOL :lol: I will be one be bag of NERVES!!!! . So don't think it's you one going through it!! We are all here for you and each other!

Mi know...mi ah go stop fret. No name for the storm yet and it is almost stationary. Right now it is up in the air where it will go, but it is projected to be a hurricane by early next week :(

Girl, you need to stop worrying! I looked at the satellite of that storm - it's way out in the Atlantic!! It's not even IN the Caribbean yet! You don't need to worry.

Yes Tam-Tam,

I checked on Hingrid this morning and Al Roker says they really aren't expecting much from she! So, find something else fi fret bout!

(L) Gill

My dear, when I got home last night, there was barely any news on TD#8 - now Ms Hingrid. All that was on was the manhunt for that guy who killed a Miami-Dade police officer and injured 3 more. The worst of the injury was a Yardie girl and we're thankful to report that she is doing well. The bullet shattered the bones in her knee and apparently there was fear that she could have lost her leg. Thank God, she is on her way to recuperating.

:ot: Ok, I'm just wondering, is there a specific way to spell out words in Patois? Or do you just try to spell them how they sound? Do you learn Patois in school or just English? I can read and understand (almost) everything you write just by sounding it out. But if me try to write it meself, it would be a disaster

Oh, and why do you call it "rooks"? I don't get it  I keep forgetting to ask Tony bout it.

My dear, spell it the way it sounds. They have a little booklet on "How to speak Jamaican". Also, I heard in the UK they are offering a formal class in Patois as a second language.

Can I tell you, a few months ago I was thinking about moving home and looking to find a job at UWI. One almost every job description it said "Must be able to speak fluent english and Patois!!! I was shocked!! Because in educational institutions Patois has always been strongly discouraged! Plus typically Patois is classified as a dialect not a language...so for UWI to place it in the catagory of a languauge was also surprising!

Thanks everyone for the congrats....The real issue is that I have to find a place for us to live and I am stuck. I would like to buy a house but I don't want to rush into purchasing a house. I really don't want to get an apt because that is just like throwing money away. Of course Melvin is putting pressure on me to come up but I keep telling him that I'm working on it. He is thinking that I could get an apt and then we both work on finding a house when he comes up. Realisticly, I know that it will take awhile for us to get settled and for him to start working. I don't know. Last night I cried on the phone with him. I am so stressed out because none of my family likes the idea of him coming up and me moving with him but no one wants to say it. All I keep getting is little comments like "are you sure you are ready to move in with someone because you know people change blah blah blah. I think I would feel so much better if they weren't sending me hidden messages and would just come straight with the real. Again they don't know that he will be here on a K-1 visa. So, I don't know----just confused because I love my fiance and at this point he comes first. I did tell him that he will have to wait awhile to come up because of the living situation but of course he wants to spend christmas with me and the new years which I don't blame him for. I want to spend it with him as well and hopefully he will be here by then.

I was turning in all directions...hearing and understanding all conversations. I know people wondered why the strange tourist girl was staring and smiling and nodding like a new born fool. I understand it pretty well now...but I am not brave enough to actually test my own ability to speak it (unless of course I get upset...then it will come tumbling out in bits of regular English...Ebonics and patois) LOL kikikikiki

 Tony was talking with some guys in JA and I was standing with them. They guys were chatting only in Patois and started talking about women and sex and stuff. They told a funny story about it and I started laughing and they turned to look at me in surprise. Tony says "you know she understands Patois?". They looked all embarrassed because I understood what they said!!

Ha hahahahahahah...........that brings back lots of memories.

Surrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrps <kiss teet> Mi feel as if mi inna one huge waiting room and the rahtid nurse neva aguh call mi name!!!:lol:

:luv: Ok, here is my interpretation:

I hear you man, I hear you! But trust me, sitting on this side of the fence ain't any sweeter. Just more hurry up and rasclaat wait! I feel as if I'm in one huge waiting room and the *** nurse is never gonna call my name!

How did I do? Not sure what rahtid means, but assuming it's a form of cuss word! Unless you mean rotten? Hey, maybe I can work for JA Embassy as a Patois translator!!! Seriously, except for one or two words, I understand everything you guys write in Patois. I wish I could understand and speak it better in person!

You go girl, I would hire you as a translator any day.

VERY GODD RHONDA!!! I am very impressed!! You got every last word right!! You were right about rahtid...it's like damn in patois!!

HHHEXCELLENT!!!

Gill

:lol: Ok now this was mean, but when I was younger, a friend here in Miami asked me what the cuss words meant; I told her one was good morning, good afternoon, good evening and good night. I cleared it up before she went up to my mother and said "B**** claat, Ms. Rose".

That's what we have done.....we currently rent an apartment. It took so long for Andre to get a job (7 month) after all the paperwork and hoops we had to jump through. Our goal was to rent and work on saving in preparation for buying a house. One, because of money. Two, because he wanted a say in the houses we looked at and the one we will eventually purchase. So far, it's been a good thing. It's so much less stressful when you are worrying about money, not to have to worry about any repairs at all.

Hey Shonnie,

I know that your a joyful in knowing that the worst has passed. Though you are not adding to the equity of a home while renting, you will at least alleviate the anxiety that you could have paid a better price for a home when the market finally gets to the bottom. Because I also want hubby to have a say in where we live, I am waiting for him to get here to make any decisions on that. I also understand, "to see him and to live with him are 2 different things". The integration won't be easy, but you know that you love him and want to make it work.

Remember that this is your life, your decision to make. Your family loves you and want the best for you, but in the end you know what's best. Your own instincts will kick in; trust them when they do.

I wish you the best and I will be praying for you.

You know that live with part is a load of kaka. You would have the same issue even if he was from the same city as you. Living with someone is always stressful, no matter what the circumstances. Don't pay them no mind.
