Right now, I can safely say our intimacy level is quite strong..RIGHT NOW...when second one come we'll see..although u still have to make time for each other it's not just about the kids...so more time u end up with break ups and divorces.. God forbid

U know it...I'm torn btwn tryin for another right now..he doesn't cause he wants to be in a job 1st..we'll see

That's the only reason I am going to go easy on for the first couple months. He wants to be in a job and have a little fun he says. He's afraid that once a baby comes into the picture, the level of intimacy between us will dwindle. Trying to reassure him that we will work hard at it, plus, I am not getting any younger.

Hello everyone! I'm a new poster to the VJ board. I have been lurking for a few weeks, mostly reading this thread. Before, I jump in with both feet, I figured I would give you a little info on me

I went through the K1 journey back in 2001.

Welcome to the Yardie thread. If I may ask, what happened to your other case from 2001? I'm wondering if it will affect your current situation at all.

I think that I am still bound by the I-865 from AOS. However, I never filed to remove conditions and he has been out of status for 3 years now. We split right during the 90 day period to adjust. I recently read that the obligation is null if they are subject to deportation/removal. Not sure how true though. He did not send any information requesting to extend his greencard due to separation. We tried to work it out about 6 months later, and I completed the paperwork but refused to pay any more fees. I figured it was his greencard, and he should take some interest or ownership in his future in the country. When we separated the second time, I decided that I would still help him remove conditions because he was a pretty good father. I wanted him to have the opportunity to continue being in his son's life.

Then, he started the lying and disappearing acts, which hurt our son. He tried to manipulate me back into a relationship with him by doing things for his son, and hoping I would let him come back home. I would say no...and he would leave it alone for a few months, then come back pleading for his family, and telling me how he has never stopped loving me. I told him that he could adjust his status on his own if he would just sign the divorce papers. I even told him that they may waive the period out of status because we were separated, and not divorced. He insists that he was never interested in the greencard or USA...only me. He said that he doesn't care about getting the 10 year greencard, he just wants to be here until our son turned 18.

Up until this last year or so, he has continued to buy gifts for me for my birthday and our anniversary. However, I can't respect a man that doesn't respect his family as his first priority. Honestly, I always thought he had a divide in his mind about his family in Jamaica and his family here. When he came to me and told me that he just wanted to think about him and nobody else for a change. I said cool, but don't expect to put us on shelf and come back to play later. His boys got tired of him, and told him to go home to his wife. I told him that his family moved on, and we were thinking about us...not him and his boys.

The same boys that he devoted himself to, all tried to push up on me at different stages. One even had the nerve to knock on my door, and ask if he and his son could start going to church with me and my boys as a family. HUH??? Mi cuss wan string of dutty badwud...kiss teet...and tell im nuh come ah mi yaad wid eediat man business. Mi nuh SKETTEL mi bwoy! CHA.

Good morning VJ Yardies!

Just an update with me and my SO - we're thinking about marrying in a private ceremony this Christmas in Jamaica. Then after I graduate and am working we file for the CR1 visa. Only thing I'm concerned about is the tax part because my current part-time job does not meet the income requirements and when I file I will have only been working a year full-time (and we don't have any family/friends willing to sponsor). I guess we'll just have to take a chance.

This is kind of a dumb question - After marrying in December, will I have to file my taxes as married?

The first year after I was married and went to file my taxes, I was advised that since he doesn't live here and didn't have a SSN that I should continue to file as single.

Thanks JATam! :)

Marie,

I'm not sure if it's required BUT by me filing married filing jointly I got an add'l $1000 on my taxes. It's also another proof of relationship.

Oooh...the extra money wouldn't hurt and you're right - it seems like a GREAT proof of relationship. Thanks :)

Correction:

Marie,

Some may say yes and others may say no, just depends on the accountant. I would say yes file Married Filing Jointly and have him apply for a ITIN. I did and I got an add'l $1000 back on my refund. Technically, your filing status depends on your marital status as of 12/31/07. If married then yes you are suppose to file either Married Filing Jointly or Married Filing Separately. However, you can also file head of household IF you have other members in your family to qualify you (not your spouse). But if you choose MFS how is your husband going to file w/o a ITIN? Some choose to file Single and amend their taxes later.

I think I would rather just file MFJ to avoid any additional paperwork and complications

We also got married in the pastor's office. Although I love being married I do feel cheated a bit. We want a "real" wedding so we will do it once he arrives later on in front of friends and family. The date won't be set until he arrives. My mom is already gushing over it and she has nooooo idea we're already married!!

When are you going to tell your mom? I don't plan on telling my mom for a while. My mom knows my SO because she went to school with his father. When I told her about planning a future with him she said "Nah bodda! Yuh too young fi start tink bout dat and him just a try look papers" That made me sooo angry because she's just assuming things and does not want to take the time to hear us out. It's a good thing marriage is a union between a man and woman and not a man, woman, and her mother ;)

Here's a question for the Yardie vets:

Have any of your fiance's been out of status before filing for AOS? If yes, for how long and were there ANY problems?

We were out of status for maybe a month, our wait was longer, but I think It had to do with the fact we did not file for EAD and AP at the same time also the and the FBI name check deal, my husband has a very common name. I was told when I called the USCIS it did not matter as long as we were married within the 90 days. It depends on who you ask.
