Oh :ot: I am guessing to get people (tourist) back on the island the rates have gone down for some travel in October. Normally from Portland, Or I spend anywhere from $550-$640 but I found a fare for $379 the last week in Oct. Now just to come up with justification as to why I HAVE to go when I know I will be there in Jan.... Any help VJ??? LOL :help:

I figured that would happen, I'm going to see what I can find around the second week of Oct. Here's my justification... that is the week of my birthday and because I missed out on the trip for Marlita's wedding  Sounds good to me :lol:

I had orig plan to visit again oct 18-23 the fares did go down its a fall sale ive been gettin emails about them air jamaica from Newark is 189 and JFK is 199 without tax. However i dunno if i should book that trip ?? But its cheap! and im up her trying to guesstimate when our interview will be so far i just got NVC letter today. They sent case to Kingston last thurday. Any ideas??

That is cheap, I wish I had access to Air Jamaica they always seem to have pretty good deals. The nearest location for me to catch Air JA is from Los Angles CA. I'm in Sacramento thats about 6 hrs away. By the time I catch a flight from here to there and then from there to JA, the cost would be the same as if I'd left from home. So what good is that?

However I did find a flight the 2nd week of Oct for $400, not bad

Not too sure about your interview date.. But just a wild guess... Probably about 2 months.

Congrats and best wishes

Congrats on the interview letter JA Tam!:dance::thumbs::dance:

I spoke to Marlon's dad today. He said he talked to Marlon yesterday during the hurricane, he was okay. His dad also got ahold of Marlon's sister and she, his mother, and nephew are fine. Clarendon was hit hard and the roads are a mess. I guess I will have to wait for Marlon to call me when he has a chance!

Sarah I'm glad you were able to get some info on your man and his family

I get those emails but everytime I try to book a flight, it is always unavailable. So, I called them on day to explain this to them and the Customer Rep was like oh because you aren't flying on the days of the special. Its weird. The tickets are cheap but the selection is limited.

I'm back...I'll post the entire experience and updates later.

Welcome Back!!!

I look forward to your experience.

Canadian, US embassies suspend activities

published: Tuesday | August 21, 2007

The Canadian High Commission and the United States Embassy have suspended their services owing to Hurricane Dean.

According to a release from the Canadian High Commission, the immigration and visa section will be closed to the public until Monday, August 27.

The U.S. embassy said inter-views that were scheduled for the week of August 20 through the 24th would be rescheduled to a later date. The High Commission said applicants with new interview dates would be contacted.

"The consular section will remain open to assist Canadian Citizens from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. daily and 1:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday," said the release.

The High Commission said Canadian citizens who require emergency consular services after hours could call the High Com-mission at 926-1500.

Meanwhile, the U.S. embassy said its offices would be closed today.

There will be no visa interviews, or routine American Citizen services available, the embassy said. But emergency services for American citizens will continue to be available without interruption. American citizens with bona fide emergencies should call 702-6000.

The embassy said as soon as it was possible to do so, it would advise the public about the availability of consular service hours from Wednesday, August 22, onwards.

Life's just a crazy ride on a run away train

You can't go back for what you've missed

So make it count, hold on tight find a way to make it right

You only get one trip

So make it good, make it last 'cause it all flies by so fast

You only get one trip

Just to remind you all .....Air Jamaica does not always have *the* cheapest airfare out there. Most of the time, ALL airlines have the same exact airfare....just depends upon restrictions and what each individual airlines rules are at that time.

There are about 150-180 different airfares in **each** market. Rates can change daily. Airfare is on a "1st come/1st serve basis", when the cheapest sells out it goes to the next highest and so on and so on and so on. Sometimes airlines put on a "sale" to help sell those last few seats on a particular day --like Tues, Wed & Sat.

For example, I've been watching airfare for a client from BWI to Dallas for about a week. The airfare has changed 4x and yesterday when I went to book her flight, they changed the airfare from the time I looked at it at 9am till she called me at 2pm. The airline put in a "new" airfare of Tues/Wed/Sat travel (for the cheapest) and took out the old airfare which was $40 less expensive.

I've been in the travel industry for 17 yrs now......still can't explain why airlines do what they do, when they do it.

So if anyone needs help or is contemplating on traveling in the future, I have a list at my desk of clients "airfare to watch", as long as you are committed to working with me, I'm happy to help you get the best possible rates !!

It's raining like crazy madness here in Maryland today.........but we desperately need it!! Craig's mom lives in Westmoreland and from what Craig told me, the storm didn't hit much......who knows ?? His mom last phone service from Sunday about 5pm till yesterday morning.

Rhonda............safe travels !
