With the hurricane coming i pray it passes by the island. Please keep Chris's family in your prayers as his mom house may not stand the hurricane she lives in a board house its pretty much already coming apart and they are trying to build her a cement house now but its nowhere near finish. I pray shes ok being there. I hope she decides to come down from the country and stay with them in the hills that should be safer.

:dance: I had to share this with my VJ Yardie family. Finally got our interview date: September 21st @ 1:30 p.m. :dancing::dancing:

Tam not to bear any bad news but are you sure you're interview is on 9/21? I haven't seen Kingston do any interviews on Friday in a long time. It's normally Tues or Thurs. Maybe you should double check that.

Anna

Hey Anna,

That's a valid point and in the back of my mind I have been wondering if we will hear later that our date has been rescheduled. My husband is going to call the embassy to verify and I have also sent them an email. I went on the embassy website and they are no longer specifically listing the days that they conduct immigrant visa interviews. It just says by appointment. As soon as we have it verified, I will let you know.

Good looking out

Hey Anna, My husband called the Embassy and they didn't have it in the system, I called the Dept of State and they didn't have it in their system. So I called the NVC again...they said they are the ones scheduling the interviews and this is the date that they told the Embassy to schedule us for. I am assuming the policies for IV interviews are going to change in Jamaica, so I am waiting to see. Pray that this is so :crying: . I am waiting for the letter and I don't care what Kingston seh, if my letter says the interview is this day, I am going to be there on that date at that time to do my interview! Dem try dem best; is time fi a change

:help::unsure:

From the Gleaner:

A Hurricane Watch is now in effect for Jamaica as Hurricane Dean, the first Hurricane of the 2007 Atlantic Hurricane Season, continues to move

towards the island. This means that hurricane conditions pose a possible threat within 36 hours.

At 4:00 p.m. the centre of Hurricane Dean was located near Latitude 15.0 degrees North, Longitude 64.5 degrees West. This is about 415 kilometres (260 miles) south-southeast of Puerto Rico or close to 1290 kilometres (805 miles) east-southeast of Morant Point, Jamaica.

Dean is moving towards the west near 33 km/h (21 mph) and this general motion is expected to continue with a slight decrease in forward speed during the next 24 hours.

Maximum sustained winds are near 205 km/h (125 mph), with higher gusts, making Dean a Category 3 hurricane on the Saffir-Simpson Scale,

and further strengthening is forecast during the next 24 hours. Hurricane force winds extend outward approximately 45 kilometres (30 miles), while tropical storm force winds extend as far as 295 kilometres (185 miles) from the centre.

Forecast models continue to project the eye of the hurricane south of Puerto Rico tonight, and over the warm waters of the central Caribbean Sea south of Hispaniola on Saturday before moving over Jamaica on Sunday morning. Should this occur, it is expected that the island would begin to experience an increase in showers and gusty winds associated with the hurricane by Saturday evening.

Fishers on the cays and banks are again strongly advised to evacuate immediately with a view to returning to the mainland by tonight. Other small

craft operators in our coastal waters are advised to return to port and those in port should not venture out.

The Meteorological Service will continue to monitor the progress of this system. All interests, especially fishers and other marine operators, should pay

special attention to subsequent Releases.

Yes, I have been in serious prayers because my SO is still there. They all live in the hills and said that they weren't affected too bad by IVAN so I'm praying that it dies down or diverts. Also, his medical exam is Monday and he called them to ask about coming today and the receptionist was like don't worry because he will still be able to come on Monday. We'll see! Most of his family and my family down there seem to be in good spirits so that makes me feel a little bit better. I'm so worried right now

Hey Shonnie,

I am praying that the hurricane will divert away from Jamaica or that the island is not affected to the extent that we are being led to believe. I wish they had given him the opportunity to come in early for the medical, but hopefully Monday rolls around and he is able to have it done. I know you and Empress have medicals scheduled for Monday and I am praying for you both since your interviews are right around the corner.

You aren't the only one with this happening....I just got off the phone with Kevin and asked him if he is ready for the "storm" and his reply was, It's not supposed to be here until Monday i think????...I was like WHAT??? So then I started running down all the info and we was in SHOCK. I reminded him of IVAN and told him about how this is supposed to be worse. THANK GOD he beleived me because we all know Jamaican Men sometime think they know everything. SO, he is now on his way to the store to get water, macrel in a tin, candles... I also learned from another site that after Ivan although they couldn't make calls out on the cell phones they were able to text so make sure you tell all of your loved ones to use that route if they can't make calls.
