In my 10 1/2 yrs going to Jamaica....shoot it's eeeeverywhere!!! My best friend "smokes" and I do the drinkin. I've never touched the stuff, no cigarettes, cigars either. No desire. My parents were heavy cigarette smokers and like AlienUK, me and my brother & sister don't smoke (although they've both dabbled in other stuff). When my son hasn't joined me on my trips to Jamaica and it's only me and my best friend.....and then Craig and friends, dear god....it's crazy !!! I've been around the heeeeavy smokin.... I just pop open a cold one.

Craig was a a veeeeery very hard smoker (since he was 15) and after 3 weeks being in this country and not smoking, he went into some serious detox!!! That's when alot of changes occured (heads up for those men/women that smoke and won't be able to when they get here). I can't even remember the last time he's smoked now?? He says he doesn't miss it anymore.

Sending good vibes for those at their interviews today !!

Why they can't do it here? I know several ppl that smokes all the time like it's a cigarette. They won't touch the "cancer stick" but smoke spliffs like it's going out of style. That stuff is sooooo easy to find that sometimes I forget it's illegal. My mother was never a smoker and hates the smell of it, but my dad is a different story. He smoke daily after he gets off of work as a relaxer. When we go out to the reggae clubs the whole place of full of it. It's like instant contact.

I think most just chill after they arrive b/c it's not the same. The stuff here is processed.

Andre's mom used to come home with bricks of the stuff so big, it would make your head spin. Where we live, we have a lot more trouble finding any without him hanging around the park way too much. Oh, and the money issue. That is why he has chilled.

Life's just a crazy ride on a run away train

You can't go back for what you've missed

So make it count, hold on tight find a way to make it right

You only get one trip

So make it good, make it last 'cause it all flies by so fast

You only get one trip

They did not ask for the no impediment, (she did not have one), she was made to sign a "no impediment sheet" they did not ask to see the additional photographs, phone bills or bank record or western union receipts, they used the stuff from the original application from the 1-29f, we had one huge folder of stuff pretty much ignored.

The gentleman asked a few questions about my job and the last time we were together and that was it, she had a pretty easy interview and he wished us well.

She said he was smiling all the time, because he she was sitting right in front of him while he was going over our stuff and she did not realize that he had already seen her sitting there, we had a lot of fun talking about it afterwards, she was well trained with the questions I found here though, they helped a lot.

Ha Ha Ha...........I remember when Andre first came here and insisted he could never get used to hot water, baths, air conditioning, heat.......my favorite.........he could never wear long sleeves. Um, yah, that all changed our first winter and then on till now.

Enjoy it now, cause you will have some great funny stories to tell and soon it will all just be memories as he acclimates more and more.

 Tony is in Jamaica now and he stayed at his cousins the last two nights. I asked him how he slept and he said (kinda quietly) that he sorta misses his air conditioning!!!!:P AND he had to take a cold shower - poor baby! I said to him now you know how I felt the first time I came to Jamaica and I had to take a cold shower!!
