Is it cheaper to buy a ticket to the US from the montego bay airport? Or online? Or from the US?

Any advice.

Girl I say check anywhere anyone that is cheap..I stalk the internet sites as well as call a 100 times..never know from day to day

I want him to fly into JFK for the work authorization stamp. Air Jamaica and American Airlines have direct flight to JFK.

Usually you won't find deals on one way fares, unfortunately. I get email alerts from both Air JA and AA on deals, and so far I haven't seen any specials. If I get anything, I will let you know.

Thanks JA_TAM!!

It was cheaper for us to get a one way ticket from Air JA than a round trip ticket.

I may have missed this, but are there only certain cases where a 10 year green card is received? Do they only give this one out for certain reasons? This is the first time hearing about getting a 10 year card.

Thanks!

If you are married over two years by the time of the interview you should get a 10 year green card (IR1 visa). Some people because they submit their paperwork before the 2 year anniversary still end up with the 2 year green card (CR1 visa) even though their 2 year anniversary has passed. All of the NVC docs with say CR1 on it so I'm guessing the embassy fails to check the marriage date sometimes when printing the visa so they still give people the CR1. The embassy messes up sometimes. If you were married 2 years before you filed your petition all of your paper work will say IR1 on it and you should definitely receive the 10 year green card when approved.

Yes, I know, as well as milk powder since the dairy industry is pretty much non-existent. You should watch "Life & Debt". It's a documentary that was done sometime ago with how globalization and so forth have affected Jamaica's economy. It's so heartbreaking :crying: and I recommend it. You can get the documentary in its entirety on google video.

Have heard about it, need to check the documentary out!

I heard that they sold Kaiser etc to a Japanese company, not sure how true that is.....It saddens me to see all of Jamaica's natural resources being either laid to waste or sold off :(

well he should get the IR1 because it should be based on how long you've been married by the he time of his interview. But we all know how the embassy is. And I've read on here where people are told the spouse will get the IR1 at the interview and then when the passport comes back it has CR1. I think that's because the people actually printing the visa don't stop and look to see how long you've been married and just go off of what visa is on the paperwork from the NVC. I've also read on here if he gets the CR1 and presents the marriage certificate at the POE they will change it for him.

but let's just hope they give him the IR1

That's not entirely true about one way airfare, just depends on what's available and every city is entirely different.

Online deals are not always better....plus god forbid you had to make a change....it's nearly impossible for anyone to help you !!

kk....I sent you an email ;o) ..

If you call any airline directly they have fees, if you book online there are "service fees".....everyone unfortunately has fees. Since the airline stopped paying travel agents/agencies about 6 yrs --we have fees (cause we can't work for free). My service fee is extremely reasonable. So....if you need me....don't hesitate to checkin with me. I have direct access to all of the airlines.

It is just crazy. You know that they privatized JPS and sold it to an American utility company. Word is that for a long time this company was not profitable, but has since been in the black since buying JPS. Now they're selling out to Marubeni, a Japanese utility company. Most all of our natural resources have been sold to outside entities. I am all for it if it alleviates some of the strain on the pockets, but it has proven to be very taxing on the people. Have you heard that you can no longer pay your bills directly to the companies that are billing you. Now you have to go to the Paymaster outlet and pay a fee to pay your bill, there are no other options :(

I just read in the Gleaner this week (or over the weekend?) that you can no longer pay them at the bank. Said they want to alleviate all that congestion so that regular bank customers don't have to wait in line so long.

Hmm...what the heck is "regular" banker...I thought all customers are regular. They just need that to make some kind of sense to the people. It is just a shame. even the water system..they tell u you can't actually cut water pressure certain times of the day..and ppl water bills still crazy....it's one big mess...like where is the future of our lush, green, calming Island....a mess !

Anytime that happens, problems such as poverty, poor healthcare, crime etc will be solved in Jamaica.

Unfortunately it sems to be everyone for themselves to see how much they can get from the country, not what they have to GIVE Jamaica :(

Did you know Jamaica IMPORTS sugar????
