You MUST give them the I693a in a sealed envelope when you file the AOS. You will get an RFE if you don't.

Has anyone gotten an RFE for this RECENTLY?? We never sent in an I-693 with our AOS stuff. All I sent them was a copy of the vaccination report that Tony brought with him from Jamaica.

i know darlene did....and i haven't heard anything yet from cali...sooo i don't know if i will get one or not...mike and i got the medical done anyway just incase....

Destiny - are u planning on having a big ceremony up here?

i don't know how big of a ceremony i can have since most of the major planning will be done only a month- maybe 2 in advance. (this is driving the davids bridal consultants crazy, cause i won't have the bridal party buy their dresses until the visa is approved.) and the money tree isn't bearing any fruit right now lol! there's going to be around 100 people in attendance. i've been collecting a lot of wedding things over the past months. the church is taken care of, it's the reception what i worry about.

alienuk, getting married is another hoop to jump through. especially since it has to be done so soon after you come to the states. but it's also the day you're united with the love of your life so make sure you enjoy every moment of it.

jengles and kimmy, i really wanted to have my wedding in jamaica too. my fiance and i went with the k-1 because it was supposed to be the fastest. i'm a bit bummed out about it now.

You can plan one for u guys in a couple of years as a vow renewal thing u know..don't go crazy though....save as much as u can..cause we a deal wid progress..lol..hhahahaaa..

Ok this maybe a silly question..Hubby doesn't need to bring the xrays to the interview right...?

thanks

Kimmy

They gave Andre his.....and, yes, he took them to the interview. They just glanced at them to make sure his name was on them.

Ok this maybe a silly question..Hubby doesn't need to bring the xrays to the interview right...?

thanks

Kimmy

you mean the x-rays from the medical? he shouldn't have them...the place where he got the medical should have them and should send them over to the embassy for the interview

Sometimes they give them to the interviewee. No biggie. Take them with you if they do.

We didn't last year. Did the exact same thing you just said and it went through without any hitches.

what i really wanted to do was have a nice (unofficial) wedding in jamaica and then just eloping here in the states. my fiance didn't want to do that because it'd all be "just for show." he suggested having the wedding in the states and an engagement party in jamaica in order to accomodate both sides of our family.

I wished we had pics. We got married last Oct in JA but it was just for filing purposes, b/c we couldn't plan the wedding we really wanted. Time was not on our side. No one knows we're married except for a couple of our sisters and their husbands. We took pics but found out the camera was empty when we got home. However, I was able to take a couple w/my camera phone. Once he arrives we're planning a nice wedding hopefully next summer in front of friends and family.

Quick Question:

For those of you that are filing the CR/IR visas when did you add your spouse to your medical plan? I'm looking into adding my husband but can't find out if I can still add him now or do I have to wait until open enrollment?

I'm filling K-1, but after we're married, I will add Donna to my medical plan at work. Most plans allow for "Family/Life Status Changes" before open enrollment. These changes can be marriage, divorce, birth, death, etc.. Check with your human resources people. I do not think you will have a problem adding your husband at this time.

30-Aug-2007 Arrived in US!!!

Yah, I was going to say about the same thin Jay did. I added Andre in July, but they backdated it to the date of our wedding.

You don't need to wait for open enrollment. However, that being said, some plans will not allow you to add if you don't do it within a certain amount of days (30, 60, 90, ?) of the event. If you miss that cut off date, you may then have to wait for open enrollment. I'd call my HR dept or insurance company and ask.

Thanks again for your responses.
