WHOOOOA wait a minute! the NVC is scheduling interview appointments for the embassy now? how on earth did i miss that? so if someone who needed to reschedule an appointment that was originally made directly with the embassy, they would now be dealing with NVC instead of the embassy?

They gave him a date that day. That's what I'm saying, Tia, it was easier.

As a sort of a side note, the first time he went, he went after the 10 o'clock (traffic was bad) cut off for just walking in and had to come back the next day. He did travel 2 days in a row then.

and as for the interview letter, did they print one out for him right on the spot or is the interview letter requirement a new thing? i'm just pissed that an interview letter is required in the first place. why can an ID be sufficient? i'm stressing so much about this that i cried today.

It was so good to talk to ya on the phone today! Hang in there my friend, we are all in this together! *hugs*

Oh, Tia. I'm so sorry.

They wrote the date on a sheet of paper and he went to the medical with that. The official letter came in the mail right before the interview, with his second copy of packet 4 that we just threw away.

So perhaps the email from the embassy will suffice as far as reporting the interview date? Can the people doing the medical not verify the info themselves by calling the embassy?

ok, curiosity was starting to get the best of me so i went ahead and called Mobay Hope and asked that question. the lady i spoke with said that they absolutely cannot perform a medical exam without the actual interview letter. she said that they simply cannot go over the embassy's head on this rule since it's the embassy's rule, not theirs. so i told her about our situation and this is what she suggested:

if you can't get the interview letter in time to have the medical exam, go to the interview-as planned- even if the medical hasn't been performed yet. she said that the embassy would reschedule another appointment that would be MUCH sooner than rescheduling an interview that you skipped it all together. i'm assuming she's talking about a blue slip.

i'm still going to and call the embassy tomorrow too.

sarah it was great talking to you today too. hopefully we can get this whole interview letter fiasco sorted out.

I believe that the NVC is now scheduling interviews for the K3 only. K1 still go through Kingston.

If you don't have the medical before the interview they will give you a "blue slip" with approval pending the outcome of the medical. It will just delay things a bit.

People i have been all over the place as usual. I had no idea that VSC will be scheduling visa appointments now.

wouldn't that be complicated? I mean, the embassy normally schedules interviews based on the return of packet 3, isn't that so? So will you still be getting a packet 4, or VSC will give you all the packet 4 info. I'm lost could someone please bring me up to speed.

One more thing, on the packet 3 check off list do they ask that the birth certificate has both parents name on it? My father's name is not on the BC just my mother"s name and my name with my father's last name.

I see on your timeline you are filing for the K1. I sent in my birth cert (to prove citizenship) and my dad name is not on mines. It was ok, we got approved.

Also are you sure you're talking about VSC not NVC? I know NVC is now scheduling the interviews for the Immigrant Visas for Kingston. If anything I don't think it would be VSC b/c that service center only approval the petitions based on eligibility. Maybe you should try calling them to verify that.

Yea that make sense. I remember another board member was given a blue slip at the interview b/c the medical results haven't been recv'd by the embassy.

That's good that you did that. I will keep hounding the embassy and just tell Marlon that if he doesn't get that letter by next week to make an appointment for the medical the week before the interview. If not, then he will just go to the interview and then schedule the medical. *shrug* I'm just tired of worrying about it!

Hey Girl;

I see that you highly recommend the USC attend the interview. What if you can't? My job works on a schedule that is prepared on an 8-weeks basis and any request for time-off has to be submitted at least 4-weeks before the schedule is posted. Is it detrimental if you possibly can't attend? What if you submit all the required info and proof of relationship? I am beginning to panic (I tend to have an over-active imagination) even though I have not yet filed. LOL

Girl I am nuts about this guy and am desperate for him to join me here.

ADVICE?

That's a hard choice to make, especially when you have a job and other responsibilities. It seems to be highly recommended that you attend. I didn't and even now I almost wish I had. Everything went fine, but I have no idea what happened because trying to get the details from him?

If you can manage it, if you find out early enough to take the time, maybe you should. But if you can't, you can't.
