I had a crazy idea to attend the interview with Marlon. My boss approved the time off and there is a slight possiblity that I could get a buddy pass from a friend. I called Marlon with the idea and he said that it was up to me. He asked me why and I stated that there was a couple recently where it was requested that the USC be present at the interview. He seemed keen on the idea BUT he did mention that he is still trying to come up with the money for the Non-Impediment form and cost of the medical. I have to admit that I am a bit disappointed that he wasn't excited at the prospect of seeing me but he told me not too worry that he could swing the interview on his own. I am just sad and missing him... :help:

There was no way possible for me to go but I couldn't either (it was either go to the interview and hubby fly here alone or him go to interview alone and us fly from JA to the US together and he wanted me there to fly back with him here) but he got offended because he felt I was treating him like he couldn't handle it. Honestly, I was and still am extremely proud of him. He did it all on his own, all I did was file the paperwork and submit. I can't imagine the pressure he felt but he held his own and we got approved. The feeling of him sitting in that plane seat next to me coming home with me is one that I will never forget (L) don't take his reaction as set in stone - just pray on it and regardless of if you go or not be sure that he is 120% prepared. You two will soon be together

Thanks so much for the words of advice!

Although I really want to go I won't merely because honestly I cannot afford it nor to take time off. I am already on the verge of having my car repossessed (long story) suffice to say I got screwed on my vehicle and I have tried to no avail to either re-finance or trade it in. Not having a car will not affect me personally as I live close to work and everything but it will screw my credit. To top everything off I found out today that I am borderline diabetic and it is reccommended that I take Metformin. I hate mondays...

Sarah sorry your having a bad day. He will do great without you. My hubby didn't want me to go either at first but my father said I had to.

I hope financial things turn around for you soon and you can keep your car. Tomorrow will be a better day. :innocent:

I think I am going to take a little break now from VJ since we have received the Green Card today. Hubby is getting upset about all the time that I am on here and sharing business. So if anyone needs pointers for CR1 pm me and I will stop on here once in awhile. All the best with everyones interviews coming up. This has been a wonderful site.

Sarah I hopes you feel better tomorrow. Marlon will do well. I know the distance is nerve racking because I was venting to my mom about how complicated the whole process is and Chris was venting to me so I know how you feel. Tomorrow will be a better day. I know you were happy to receive your interview date so keep the happy moments alive.

Again, we have an age difference and I am caucasian and we had no issues. I did send him with so many things there was doubt we had a legitimate relationship, including scrapbooks of my 14 visits to see him. I think it really depends on what you can prove and what you leave up to the imagination. If there are questions or doubts, they will likely require you to come along.

I didn't attend, but did send a 5+ pound binder down full of copies of emails, emailed text messages, photos, plane ticket itineraries, cards sent to one another, letters, $10,000 worth of phone bills and calling card receipts over the course of our relationship (crazy I know) - I seriously went overboard with our proof. And I included a color coded table of contents and the dividers for each section matched the color code for easy access to what was needed by both fiance and interviewer. We were approved (once hubby got updated copy of his birth cert) with absolutely no problems at all

It really depends on the interviewer. If they have any reason to doubt your relationship then they may request more evidence. I know of US citizens that flew to Kingston for the interview and still got denied.

Be as prepared as you can and make sure to dot the I's and cross the T's.

GOOD MORNING/AFTERNOON EVERYONE

Hey Jonesie;

How are you? What was the process like for you? How long have you known your SO? I have also accumulated a lot of phone bills but we have gotten a megaphone and I don't know how I can get those records of phone calls made to me. I might have to try to request a transcript of incoming calls from Bell South/AT&T who is my local carrier. I don't know how receptive they are going to be about that but I might just tell him to start caling me on my cell instead of on my home phone. I am starting to save all the evidence that i have and am accumulating for the ultimate day when I file. Thanks to all you ladies/gents for al you kind support at this point. I wish you all the best on your continued journey and I know you all will be there to answer all my questions and concerns and provide a shoulder to lean on when I start the process also.

Once again thanks.

Claire

Hey Claire :)

The process for us was a blessing to say the least - extremely easy and pain free, from sending the K1 application to our interview in Kingston. The biggest hold up was not getting approved first interview because hubby didn't have updated birth certificate like I told him to get  but once he took that in he was approved. Call the phone carrier and request the copies - even if they charge you for the records it will do nothing but help you out in the long run. Be sure to make two copies of everything as well. If they wanna get an attitude then get one back, you pay your bill every month and if you want the previous records then they should accomodate that.

We've known each other since 2004, and before we were dating and I'd call him or he'd call me I had access to my cell phone and home phone bills (as well as calling card receipts) so when the time came to file I printed them off from the first phone call between us.

Another thing I recommended to someone a while back was emails - even if hubby does not have internet access you still can create a free addy for this person and "send" a few emails from your address to that one and vice versa...it's a bit underhanded but as long as hubby gets the jist of the messages and knows about it then it will just make you two look better in regards to communication when you weren't in Jamaica

Some calling card companies have a log of the cards you've purchased - if you can contact them and get a transcript of that (even if it's just a general amount) that may help. My old company would email me receipts from all my internet purchases and I saved them all in a separate file and included that in my binder. Ringyard didn't exist then but you do what you can.

Save everything you can and take lots of pictures. I even sent hubby pics of my family and when he went for interview he had them handy - I tried to cover every angle and didn't want to miss anything.

Good luck!

Thanks for the info Jonesie. Can you tell me how to create the free "addy"? I use yahoo mail. I am gonna try to get my home phone records starting now. The calling cards I use are the one I buy from the corner grocery and don't know if I can actually get those call logs, but I will try. I have tons of used cards with the dates of use written on them.

When I started talking to Mike, I caled from my home phone and when the bills started getting out of control, I bought the calling cards, not knowing that I would get to this point where I would need the evidence. I bought a Megaphone in my name in Jamaica and that is what he is using to call me now. We talk everyday. We write letters and send cards to each other also, so I will keep those also.

You guys/gals are really amazing and I appreciate all the really helpful info you all are providing for me at this early stage. By the time I file, I know I will be an K-1 visa expert.

Thanks a Whole Bunch

Sarah - Marlon will do fine at the interview. It basically depends on the mood of the consular officer..something you cannot control. Just tell him to go with lots of confidence and additional evidence...just in case.

As far as your diabetes - most insurance companies or free clinics offer diabetes education classes. Start reading discussion forums on diabetes.org...wonderful website. Control your sugar blood levels by limiting your carbs, avoid juices, sodas, etc. Do more exercise like walking. You can get more info by reading the website. Most importantly - STRESS is a huge factor on increasing your blood levels so please be careful.

wow lots of great information given today!

jax, you've had some wonderful contributions and you'll be missed. congrats on the arrival of hubby's green card.

sarah times sound really hard for you right now. hang in there sweetie!

my mom went through the fiancee visa process over 30 years ago (philippines) and she's been absolutely brutal towards me lately. it's gotten to the point now where i try not to mention it or the conversation will turn sour. i know she means well, but it's stressing me out. i've never backtalked to my mother, and i wouldn't dare do it now even though i'm grown, but i've come really close to it a few times, lol. it really hurts to not have any support from my parents. i can't even bring the subject up with my dad and my mom has nothing positive to say either. i'm thankful that friends and other family members are happy for me.

how did you guys print off your text messages? i have verizon and i've tried to print them off but had no luck. then my phone broke and i had to get it replaced and lost all the text messages that i got from him. it really made me sad.

creating an email addy and "sending" emails to eachother is a great idea! i don't have any written evidence of support from him. he hates writing. if all our phone records are sufficient (i have a year's worth of them) to show that we maintain contact on a regular basis then i'd much rather just go with that.

Question for anyone who has gone thru AOS already. I am in the process of getting our AOS package together. My question is, do I "have" to send in a tax transrcipt? Or will the W-2 forms be good enough?

I sent in copies of the tax returns with the W-2's. Never used transcripts.

Life's just a crazy ride on a run away train

You can't go back for what you've missed

So make it count, hold on tight find a way to make it right

You only get one trip

So make it good, make it last 'cause it all flies by so fast

You only get one trip

FYI- Tel3advantage has phone log online. I'm spending the day at work printing all 60 pages. It seems to be that I joined in Feb 2005. So i have over 5000 calls. I've decide to still put together a binder just because I'm usually unorganized and I want to at least seem organized. :D

Jonesie....I am so in the same delema as you went through.... Should I plan on going to the interview or plan on going to fly to the US with him??? By looking at everyone elses timeline it puts my interview the end of December...which as we know is the most expensive time to travel.... OR, plan on going in January and (crossing fingers) bring him back? If he goes byhimself and they give him the "blue paper" for me to attend....I could just go in January right??? Ughhhh I don't know what to do....I know I have a ways to go but just trying to plan my expenses....
