Howdy all,

I will say this, I know many, many more who got their hearts stomped on right here stateside.

AMEN! AMEN! This is the exact same point that I try to make to people!! And I am not afraid to say that I was one of those people who got my heart stomped and I do mean BIG TIME right here in the states.

I also make it a point to tell them that love is where you find it.... I just so happened to find mine in Jamaica

Ditto , ditto mi too. Men use women all di time. The way I see it, there is not telling what I would do if I were in my husband shoes at the time he choose to make the descison to move here to the states wit mi. His basic insticit said survival, he wasn't thinking about love or what it meant to be a husband in a sense. I can be honest with misef and seh yes, I think my husband did come here for the oppertunity not for wedded bliss, although he would never seh so. What he didn't expect to find was a wife who gives unconditional love, respect and faithfullness. Something that has been hard for him to walk away from. I have aired my dirty laundry here I must say it was a big mistake. I have share my dirty landry with family at times, again big mistake, even what I though was close friends, again big mistake. I agree with Elizabeth. "cast your burnens on the Lord, and He shall sustain you.....A hard lesson I had to learn. With him there is no need to impress, no thoughts to defind, no feelings to hide. You cannot share with family, they love you too much. Depending on how strong your friendships are you may or may not be able ti share with dem, usually they end up judging you. He who judges mi is the Lord! I am thankful for the friendships I have gained here, I have been given great advice and feel like I have a listening ear IF I need to vent, cause at times we are weak and fearful. I am very thankfull and you know who you are!!!! If he walks out on mi too bad so sad fi him, a brighter day will soon come, will I be hurt? of course, It definately will not be the end of mi world. What ever happens I must tell mysef I must keep walking, keep living, it's not what happens to you in life it's how you respond to it is what matters most. (F)

My daughter is suppose to go down in August for a few wks, but I don't know what to do. This is soooo unfair. What about the single mothers that have no idea where their baby daddy is??? What are they going to do??? You know ppl always asked me how was my daughter able to leave the country w/o her father's consent but I never thought twice about it. My daughter always had a passport and traveled to JA countless time. I am so lost.

I hear you Anna. I know where my daughter's father is and he refuses to sign, and I am tempted to just forge his name on the form, cause he's being spightfull. I have a friend who is a notary. I want to take her with mi when we go back. The only other option is to go to court and be granted soul custody. Who knows how long that will take. It's important that she goes. I feel like he uses my time away to make her feel sorry for him turning her aganist mi.

Here's another, this was actually published by the Observer in Jamaica a few months back :)

The Return

My earliest memories of her are faint. She smelt lovely, like oranges, nutmeg and mint all mixed up. She used to sing to me before I went to sleep and she would be there making my tea for me in the morning.

That was before she went ‘a foreign’. Then, I went to live with Aunt Pearl. She hates me Aunt Pearl does. I get a beating for coming in too late, for singing too loudly, for eating out the Milo, for walking too slow when she sends me to the shop…..

Thanks for sharing that.

Yeah ditto

I agree Jamie, most ppl wish they had a place to go to "tell" their story. Like me mi have one fren wah just wah know ur biz, u tell her thinking she genuinely care but when pus hcome to shove she caan disclose her biz cause it so "top secret" so mi no tell her nuttin wah mi no want she know. She like to pity ppl and mi no go fi pity at all, she said to me one time "you want mi daughter christening gown it was expensive" I was like what the heck, no mi no want u damn pickney frock mi can buy mi own not cause u have u house, u pickney andu husband u tink u can "hand out" to ppl...she tink she a help me out but she making the whole matter worse.

Another remark was "why Kimora (my daughter) so special and mi husband have 3 other kids already: u tell me...she neva deserve a buss asrs fi dat..damn out a order. And examples like dis I think mek ppl no want share nuttin cause ppl throw it back at them and PRETEND their life is perfect. But, as for me my skin tick and mi back broad hahahhaaa  so mi can tek it and mi can give it too.

I love to share with u guys b/c it makes me look at things in a dif light u know..open ur eyes a little.

Dee - how old is your daughter? They only need both parents consent until the age of 14.

Most people on here know I have no problems sharing our experience...usually offline because I don't want to bore anyone else with our lives. Overall our visa journey has been good but we definitely have our fair share of issues. We've been together 4 years and married 2.5 and the adjustment has not been easy....to this day but we take it one day at a time.

I also met some wonderful woman on this thread....the greatest support system. It's easier for me to talk to someone else who has been through the same process. We have laughed, partied, cried and prayed together....you know who you are.....Thanks (F).

I guess it's the same for FBI name checks....I don't really care any more, I'm hoping for the 10 year green card so they can take as long as they want. Right now all I want is the AP.

In regards to Kelly's reply..We got my daughters passport 1 wk b4 our travel date, just had to pay extra $60 I think. I had to go to a regional center to it, If i had mailed it in, I wouldn't have gotten it back in time..but see what ur closest regional center is call to make an appt and get there. We went 9am say Wednesday and it was in the mail Thursday afternoon.

Yep, it's an extra $60 to expedite it.... but just read up on the passport government site. It's 4.5 million americans waiting on their passports !!! What a mess !!

Yea I saw the same thing. I think the best way to have it expediated it to go to the regional office but by mail just do it regular mail. I spoke to another board member and that suggested me sending in a notarized letter, which I will do. With me working two jobs right now it's hard for me to find time, but I will go back to the post office on Sat.

Thanks everyone.

Kelly - With the "status page" and her birth cert will that be enough for her to travel? I'm not going w/her, she will be traveling alone.

Make an infopass appointment if it has been more than 90 days for the AP. Not the exact same as the FBI name checks -the Embassy don't get fingerprints until the interview so they do a quick check before they issues the visa.
