Ok everyone, I need some help. I don't know if this is more of a question or I just need to vent.

My daughter passport expired back in 2006 and I just found out that children passports cannot be renewed. I will need to apply for another one, but the requirements have changed. Now she MUST have BOTH parents ok the issuance of a passport and it has to be notarized if one of the parents is not present. Well, her father can't sign or get it notarized for that matter. I went to USPS and spoke to the passport office and the man was pissing me off to the point it got into a heated conversation. He was being ignorant and spiteful. He didn't even want to give me the # for passport services.

Well I cld them (Dept of State) and told her my situation and she said there was nothing she can do. It's the "policy". I swear I nearly cuss the dang woman but I have to remember my case is in that office...

My daughter is suppose to go down in August for a few wks, but I don't know what to do. This is soooo unfair. What about the single mothers that have no idea where their baby daddy is??? What are they going to do??? You know ppl always asked me how was my daughter able to leave the country w/o her father's consent but I never thought twice about it. My daughter always had a passport and traveled to JA countless time. I am so lost.

Anna - my cousin just went through the same thing recently. All she provided was a notartorized letter from her saying that her sons father was in in jail and they've had no contact for years...it worked. Oh yeah - the officer didn't even look at the letter.

Anna sorry to hear that. The new rules are driving a lot of people bonkers because they seem to impact innocent people so harshly.

If you cannot get a notarized letter from the dad, do you have any of the following:

One parents appears, signs, and submits primary evidence of sole authority to apply (such as one of the following):

Child's certified U.S. or foreign birth certificate (with translation, if necessary) listing only applying parent; or

Consular Report of Birth Abroad (Form FS-240) or Certification of Birth Abroad (Form DS-1350) listing only applying parent; or

Court order granting sole custody to the applying parent (unless child's travel is restricted by that order); or

Adoption decree (if applying parents is sole adopting parent); or

Court order specifically permitting applying parent's or guardian's travel with the child; or

Judicial declaration of incompetence of non-applying parent; or

Death certificate of non-applying parent.

I am hoping his name is not on her birth certificate. Is it? If it is, try calling the

State Department's Office of Children's Issues. They might be more knowledgeable about the various exceptions and loopholes...every law or regulation must have one.

Office of Children’s Issues

Toll Free Phone from within the U.S.: 1-888-407-4747 (8 a.m. - 8 p.m.)

Phone: (202) 736-9090

Good luck.

His name is on the birth cert. I dont have sole custody or anything like that, he is just not able to take care of this. I will call thanks for your help.

For all Chicago Yardies.

Dwain and I are going to see Buju Banton on July 4th. He was screaming he knows the keyboard play. He screamed bumbclot and took off my ears LOL.

I am also thinking of going myself. Still haven't decided.

Anna if you go maybe we will see you there. Did Mindy tell you if she was going? She is the one who let me know about this. Can you buy tickets there or do we need to buy them online?

No I haven't heard from her. Yea we should hook up. I go every year and always pay at the door. It's usually at the corner of 55th & Cottage Grove over at Washington Park. Check out the website.

Thanks Ana :)

that person got issues in her own life and is just trying to make herself feel better, just tell her, how great your life is and shut her up

I like reading what is going in some other people's lives because it gives me insight in to how my own life will change once mr jengles comes up. the posts about the telephone calls back home and how some people will start calling and asking for stuff, is helpful and when mr jenglesf starts to pluck my last nerve I'm sure someone one here will see the bright side.

Users are everywhere, dem all bout, I know people that have married for papers and are still married years later and people who marry for love and dem mash up after 2 years. such is life!!

Just please help me get thru the next 3 weeks, the baby is due in 2 weeks, his interview is the next week, and my grandmother is here and of course my house isn't clean enough for her, she won't let me sit down, ok ladies I have to go and clean my room...again...i feel like i'm 12

Are you nesting?

Just to be on the safe side, I would go to family court and get declared the sole guardian so in the future you won't have this problem..

Thanks Jengles but I don't want to do that. He is willing to help just can't. It's' complicated.

Also please keep in mind that the processing for new passports is taking approximately 12-14 weeks. Once you apply, you will need to wait up to 10 days for the information to even get into the Passport system to be able to print out your information proving that she can still travel without her passport. You won't need her birth certificate, but I would highly recommend having one, just in case. I've had 2 clients in the past month contact our Senators office within a week of traveling because they hadn't received their passports and the office was able to "push it through".

HOPEFULLY the bill will pass (well, it has passed) but they are trying to extend passport stuff till Jan 2009. I'm praying, it's putting a HUGE damper on the travel industry --bigtime !!! Shoot "I" don't even have my passport ! My sons fathers name isn't on the birth certificate (not in the picture...never has been), but a good friend of mine is also a notary. I dread going through all that ####### for my son to get his passport.

Good luck to you!

Yep, it's an extra $60 to expedite it.... but just read up on the passport government site. It's 4.5 million americans waiting on their passports !!! What a mess !!
