Thank you everyone for the tips and advice! Marlon did try to get a megaphone but it does not work in Clarendon. When he does call me he goes to his mom's and uses his sister's megaphone in Kingston. I don't call him often, maybe once a week but with a hopeful interview coming up I will need to talk to him more.

Oh my gosh girl props to you!! How do you survive?? Once a week. I couldn't survive in back in the day. I just programed ring yard number on my cellphone and would call like 5 times a day. You are strong! Does he have internet? Dwain had internet but we still needed to talk 5 times a day to make sure each other were alright.

I was thinking the same thing. We can't even do once a day much less once a week. Our family members keep asking if we aren't sick of each other by now. Were not though. I just need to feel like my guy is as close to me as possible. To each its own though. Big ups!

Dwain thinks after he is done with school we might move to Las Vegas so he can play music professionally again. I really didn't think he would take my advice.:blink: I guess this is 4 years down the line.

Are any of you cat owners? Dwain and I are thinking about buying a cat. I have never owned an animal in my life. Should we buy one or two? What is the cost to take care of kittens? We saw some cute ones yesterday at Pet Smart. He wants one or two because he had three back home. I am just nervous. :help: To all the animal owners.

I am..... LOVE THEM, but I love all animals. I've had my one cat for almost 14 yrs. He's about 30 (or so) lbs....he's the size of a small dog. He's all black with a white tummy and white paws. The other one (all black--except for 5 white hairs on his chest) is 4 yrs old....I adopted him when he was a kitten from Petsmart. Cats are low maintenance (when they get out of their kitten stage).... funny as ALL get out !!!! I would recommend getting 2, especially if noone will be around in during the day. Both of my cats are really really lovable (raised them that way ;o).

I grew up with a Pug for 17 yrs (my parents gave him to me when I was 7)....

Question?? How long does it take to get a green card or soc card after hubby arrives on a CR1? I thought it was 3 weeks but we haven't received it. Does anyone have a clue? Maybe we need to wait one more week. I am hoping its here before Dwain signs up for classes on July 6.

Guys,

My husband, David, has the megaphone. The battery some times stays charged for 60+ minutes then other times it goes in 15-20 minutes. So we supplement out communication needs with the Sprint International Calling Card. You can pick up a card at CVS Pharmacy. U are able to recharge via a toll free # or back at the CVS store. If you recharge at CVS you get 10% more minutes. The rates are a little bit under .15 per min with no connection fee. This rate is for all # cell or landlines. Recharging a $20 card at CVS give you 146 minutes. In the six month I have use the card the only time I had a problem connecting was during mother day weekend. The connection is better than when I am calling from my home line directly. The best part if I call David and his VM picks up before I can hang up I am not charge a minute if I hang up immediately. You can not get that with any calling card, cell phone or land line plan!!! I have the card program in my cell with speed dial.

I also has BellSouth now AT&T int'l plan on my home phone where I get .20 per minute to most numbers in Jamaica. I don't pay anything for the plan as long as I spend at least $12 on int'l which is very easy. Not sure but for some reason David cell phone does not register at a cell phone.

I can said the mega phone has reduce my long distance from $350- $400 per month to about $100. 80% of our calls are done via the megaphone. David works in Kingston but his job has him a lot of the time all over the island. For the most part he is able to use it. The biggest challenge is the battery. He has purchase several car chargers and none has work. He was here in USA last week and we could not find a charger to work. So we try to talk before David leave home, charged the phone up, talk in short interval thru the day and then talk at night.

I can say before I went with Sprint I tried multiple on line cards and with calls not connecting but minutes were being charged. Here is the kicker I have worked for Sprint for 6 + years and never once through it would be the best deal. One of David's friend that now live here in the USA was asking me if I could get a discount on Sprint card becuse that was the best way to call Jamaica. Image that!!!!! I don't get any additional discount but he was right!!

He called yesterday to one of his friends at the liquor store telling him how cheap it was here. This friend is coming up to visit in August and making plans to take alcohol down.

 That's crazy!! I wish I could buy ALL my alcohol in Jamaica. It is sooooooo much cheaper down THERE! Especially the duty free shop at the airport - me and Tony each bring back 3 bottles every time we go!

I personally am not a cat person. I've always had a dog - since I was very little. I LOVE dogs! Cats are supposed to be more self-sufficient though. But I don't like the idea of a litter box!
