Our weekend started out horribly. Andre flunked his first attempt at the driving test. Made a right turn on red at a no right turn on red interesection. Failed immediately. He was one big crab the rest of the day. After cussing him eventually, I couldn't wait to escape to work. He's better now. But, geez, you would've thought it was the end of the world. Between you and me.............told you he wasn't ready.

He shouldn't feel bad. The first time Bert went out the jackass told him to move the car to the driving test area. He back up past one car and pulled into the space. He flunked him right away saying he backed into a one way street.

Unfortunately Bert listened to me as I told him to do that. As he is saying he flunked someone is driving down that road that is supposedly a one way and he did not go chasing after him.

The second time we get the same crusty old guy and Bert goes through the entire road test and he flunks him again. Say he was going too fast (he drives like an old lady) and that when he pulled into an intersection that had 2 lanes of traffic he went into the wrong one. If someone sat there they could write up hundreds of people for doing the same thing. The third time was a charm. Different guy who say he was nervous and told him to relax. Talked about Jamaica and cracked a couple of jokes. Really nice guy. Bert passed. It is not like he hadn't driven, he had his Jamaican license for 17 years and he had been driving my car since he arrived.

WE ARE DONE!!!

I am just lookin for things to do because I will be free all of July and part of August

We went to the Caribbean Festival -- I believe it was the end of June -- it's in Washington Park (right by the University of Chicago) -- that's where we saw Beenie Man. It was really nice -- they had a lot of restaurants there selling food and booths selling "#######." Worth going to if someone good is playing.

For Independence day in August they usually have entertainers as well. Also in Evanston at James Park

Does everyone here like bun and JA cheese. I have to be honest I am not a bun lover  . Am I the only one. My husband says I am so picky

I have to admit -- I do like it. Just had to go buy another one yesterday.....4lbs for $18.00....but it is really YUMMY!! ....and, it makes Roy really happy!!

I love bun and cheese!! When I'm in JA I would eat it all the time.

Love the cheese.

Okay -- talk to me about the cheese. We bought a "container" at the African store -- we already threw it away so I can't tell you who made it -- Roy HATED it. I had to go out and get "hard" cheese -- I bought a "brick" of Colby...... WHAT kind of "American" cheese can you compare the "Jamaican" cheese to. He said the Colby was just fine.....but I would love to get some more suggestions.

The cheese here tastes different as well. It's not fresh. I drove all over the place trying to get cheese on Sat and eventually went to the bakery. All the store sold out and the guy worked in the bakery just came up w/tins of cheese so he was selling at a high price, but it was worth every penny.

I didn't tell him I thought he wasn't ready. Are you crazy? It is better to let him learn that on his own.

And, regardless of if he has his license or not, things aren't going to change immediately. We have one car. I work 2 jobs and right now only one way coincides with my travel schedule. He has to take the bus one way each work day. When, we are in the car together, he is always driving. Getting his license would not effect his independence at this point at all. It's just a thing. One more piece of ID to collect.

Oh, I see. No, I didn't mean that you told him he wasn't ready, but failing the test proved it. I guess it's one more hurdle for him to get past, one more step closer to being fully integrated here.

Hello All,

my name is Lee, I have started my visa journey. My fiance is in Montego Bay Jamaica. I don't know how I could have done it without all the information I found here—Venessia and i really appreciate it.

I mailed my K-1 petition on the 27th of March it was received on the and have already received my first Notice of Action, hopefully this is sign of good things to come.

I will be leaning on you guys with the experience to help guide me though the process and asking your forgiveness in advance to for anything stupid that I might ask. My heart goes out to everybody who are also missing their significant other—its heart-wrenching—it's really tough.

Thank you.

Welcome Waynegeraldine.

I'm trying to put one of those cute little ticker thingies on my profile...eveidently it's not working. Oh Well.

Good luck with that, let me know what works for you. I'd like to put one, too.

Good morning, everyone. So the consensus seems to be that all of the shipping companies are reliable. That's good, because he didn't get the DS230 that I mailed USPS. I have found that USPS is not that reliable on that end. I sent something priority once, it was supposed to get there in about a week, it took more like three.

Good morning, waynegeraldine and welcome.

Someone correct me if I am wrong but I believe that they can only deliver the package if the contents are all documents. Once you include non documents, your recipient may have to go claim it from Customs themselves.

No that's incorrect. I sent my cousin a front lamp assembly for his car via FedEx. He picked it up at the office in MoBay b/c they couldn't locate the house. He got it a week later.

There are usually 3 codes you can pick from try one at a time. One of them will work.

I saw that too -- I'm not so much a fan.....Roy really likes him. Right now, along with Capelton, I am hoping he doesn't realize  I am such a horrible wife

:bonk::lol: Mindy goodluck

He said he rather see Maxi Priest. He isn't a fan of Beenie Man. I guess I really don't know what he likes in JA music. He is always listening to USA love songs. He said he might not want to go either. He reminded me we have to go see this transformer movie on July 4th  On the 3rd then I will take him downtown to the taste so we don't miss fire works.

Don't feel bad about it Jax. Once he arrives he will tell you what he likes. I went to Capleton a few years ago and paid $45...never again!!! It wasn't worth it at all. Actually (in my opinion) a lot of these stage shows in Chicago are awful. When they bring my baby Movado then I will go until then I'm continuing listening to my CD's.

Just so you know ring yard raised their rates cell phones are now 19 cents a minute and land line 18 cents a minute. I don't think we will ever find 10 cent a minute rate again.
