[she asked me to help put her in a medical assistant class.....my main issue is WHERE is she going to live????? and how is she going to make a living????

I have a childhood 'friend' from Jamaica who asked me to write her an invitation letter, etc, I asked her whp she was going to stay with???

She was like, 'Oh I'd stay with you a little while before I got a job and move out'

I was like HELL NO!!!

Funny

Jamie is the best (F)

Ditto!!!! Newbies. She knows her stuff

Did your fiance get the CO's name who conducted the interview? Or is it on the blue ship? If so, I would try calling him directly or writing him a letter.

I thought they wore numbers? If I worked there I would let anyone know my name, then again I would approve everyone

I also agree. I went to a business college and was able to get my BBA in 3 yrs. It was tuff esp in the beginning w/me me working full time, going to school full time (nights) and spending time w/my daughter so I decided to go for my Associates first. During my first year everything was great until I started having child care issues. It was hard but I was determine to finish because I knew in the long run it was worth everything struggle I had to endure. Fortunately I was able to send my daughter to JA to stay w/family until I was able to finish school. I missed her daily and took a lot of ####### from some ppl in my family but I was determine no MATTER WHAT b/c I was tired of living on min wage. Honestly, I think it was the best decision I ever made (going back to college) and for those who used to chat me........well let's just say they're haters  Jamie I say go for it, yes it will be hard but it's worth every minute of it. Trust me!!!!

Mi too, I have an ADN (nursing), working on a BSN, dreaming of a Masters, I have always worked fulltime, even more while attending school and raising a family, it is hard work!!! I make too much money now for grants, so student loans is what it is, for now. I too will....am  in debt because of the loans :help: . I know this is the best descision for me as well, when I'm finished and near the top all those who said I couldn't mak it can chat to mi back!!

Students Loans have been nothing but a blessing to me. I definitely know I would not be living the life that I'm living if it wasn't for my student loans. I was able to get a great job. I'm in the accounting field. I mean I met my fiance during my spring break in college. Just imagine if I didn't go to college. Where would I be.

So now I'm on round two of student loans. I've recently started my masters in information systems. It's hard...but I'm going to make it through.

Also, it helped me establish credit. I didn't have any credits cards but I had student loans that I paid on time. When I went to buy my house and new car the banks were impressed with my student loan payments.

Just my two cents. LOL

Good Morning! Thanks for all the love :luv: I love being able to help people out!

Thanks for all the tips and insight about schools. I only have around 20 credits of business classes so that is why I am thinking it will take forever to get a degree. I have to get the AA and then work towards the Bachelors. If I am only taking night and weekend classes all those credits adds up to a huge amount of time. I will keep googling and I am hoping to have a clear plan by this fall. I really want this so the motivation isn't the problem. I am just a very logical and practical person and those are the parts I am getting hung up on.

Ok so since we are always looking for topics I have a good one. It might be a little controversial but I am really interested to know...no matter what the opinion may be.

So we all know that ganja is very common in JA. Not everyone does it but a lot do. I have been really reading up on this subject and there is all sorts of information out there. Do you think there is long term psychological effects of smoking ganja? I am not talking casual/recreational use. I mean for someone who smoked daily for years especially as a teenager (13+). Everyone knows that as a teenager your brain is still developing and growing and with heavy ganja use there has got to be some damage...at least IMO. What do you all think? Do you see signs from your SO/family/friends that were heavy ganja users? Again I know that for people that are still using there is effects but I am specifically asking about someone who did ganja for years but is now clean and doesn't smoke...do you think there is lasting damage from all the years of smoking?

Well I hope that made sense...any insight as always is greatly appreciated. I am hoping we can have a very good informative discussion. Feel free to tell your opinon...no judgements here

Just spoke to my fiance and he was approved.

Congrats  Told you he'd be fine!

Thanks, Rhonda. I'm glad it's over. Now the wait for the visa. That's not as stressful, though.

Congrats - did you ever get a chance to ask him, what questions they asked him, not sure if some else asked this before

Thanks. Yes, we talked about it last night. I wish I had been there because I would have better information. He said that the interview was relatively simple. He saw three different people who collected different parts of the packet from him. He said that the final person was a man that asked him things like how we met, when we met in person, when we decided to get married, how many children I have and their names, my name and address (he said he had to write it a few times), what type of work I do, and how many people we planned to invite to the wedding. At the end, the man told him to enjoy his stay in the US, gave him a paper and sent him to another window where he picked up the pink paper.

As I said, if I'd been there, I'd have better information to report.

Do you think there is long term psychological effects of smoking ganja?

Do I? I was married to a bud head for years, and from my personal experience and opinion, it exerbates amotivation and paranoia. I say this because the X was most likely lazy to begin with but the  ganja made it worse.

But do you think those effects or some form of effect lasted for months even years after they stopped using ganja (if they stopped)?

I am just happy their names don't end in TON. My cousins in London teased me when they heard I was marrying a Yardie - they said all Jamaican guys names end in TON (pronounced TAN) - Dexton, Glenton, Lenton, Barrington, Cherrington, Carrington  ... so to see Tony, Roy, Henry, Dave, Andre and the likes was a relief.

AOS, EAD - 115 days from mailing AOS to conditional Green Card in Hand

06-07-08 - File to remove conditions

4/28/09 - Moved to CSC

06-20-09- Received 10 year Greencard
