She even had the audacity to comment on my weight (she is much larger than me and has diabetes because of it) and when she would share out the food she would "make a special plate for Jamie because she doesn't need all that extra food" and then pile hers to the top...oh man I about bit clean through my tongue trying to keep it in

Oh NO she didn't!!!!:angry::bonk: I would NOT have been able to keep my mouth shut!!

the 221g says

I hate to say this, but this is why all us Vets recommend that the U.S. fiance/spouse attend the interview. It seems that the only time the guys get hassled is if you are NOT there with him. You hardly ever seen a blue slip issued when the U.S fiance attends the interview.

I don't remember, but do you guys have a big age difference between you? This is another thing they will really, really hassle you about.

Good luck and keep on trying

 Tony's cousin does the same thing - he wanted me to leave him my Nike tennis shoes (he has small feet so mine fit him) then last time Tony and me came home and I noticed his Adidas flip-flops were missing - that I had bought for him! He left them with his cousin who kept bugging him about it

I had an ex who left his brother a bottle of perfume I gave him.. Notice the word EX????

[she asked me to help put her in a medical assistant class.....my main issue is WHERE is she going to live????? and how is she going to make a living????

I have a childhood 'friend' from Jamaica who asked me to write her an invitation letter, etc, I asked her whp she was going to stay with???

She was like, 'Oh I'd stay with you a little while before I got a job and move out'

I was like HELL NO!!!

Oh, HELL NO................that is what I say. I don't want any family members coming to visit. Friends either. We would never get rid of them. No lie...I've seen Andre's friends in JA come to visit and never leave, yet never contribute anything to the household either. We visit all his family and friends, here, there and everywhere.

I'm so glad we can chat this up and laugh about it. Sometimes, I think I would go crazy if no one else understood. You guys are the best!

Talking of that, we used to live in Lucea and went to live in Kingston after my father died.

My dad had a really good friend who lived in Lucea so my mother asked him to come and 'stay'.

He thought she meant LIVE!!!!

He was there for 9 months in the end!!

agreed!!!!!!! Hubby helps his mother out now and I expect him to continue to do so, when he comes up here. when he met me he told me his mother lived a simple life and he wasn't lying. She's never asked me for a thing. On the other hand his children's grandmother seems to always have her hand out and she works. The kids called me on saturday and I asked the grandmother want they need and it boiled down to a whole new wardrobe. Now I've been bringing them clothes for a whole year but when i see them they always have the same old stuff on.. Even hubby had to ask them do they still have the clothes because when he picks them up, they are wearing the same clothes. He thought the grandmother was giving the clothes to the children's cousins. the kids have an aunt here in the states and every once in a while I'll see some old navy or children's place clothes appear that I didn't give them. so I know they have clothes

Now don't get me wrong before I met hubby I was a single mom and of course feel that fathers should support their children and do extra, but I feel like she's getting from all quarters and its still not enough. The kids tell me that their mothers friends buy them clothes also. (their mother is deceased). I told hubby all the stuff she asked for, for the kids and he told me "she too nuff". he gives her money and then she turns around expects him to buy everything that they need that is my observation.

it's funny, I find that most people I know in Jamaica are either one or the other.

My best friend was there for a good few years after I left, I'd call her and ask her what she wanted, she'd choose one thing, maybe a bottle of perfume or a pair of shoes. I'd ask her if she needed anything else, she'd say no.

Then when I got there I'd cuss her because she needed stuff.

So started asking her 'Do you need shoes, etc''

She'd say no, when I got there I'd realise she did, she'd say she told me no because she didn't want to pressure me.

My other friend on the other hand, used to ask me for gold jewellry, wigs, weaves, designer clothes etc.

I ended up cutting her off, couldn';t take it any more

My tummy is starting to get round  I don't quite look pregnant - just fat!! A few people at work have dared to ask me!! I started wearing maternity pants last week. My other ones were just too uncomfortable!

Lol, someone just realized TODAY I was pregnant!!

the 221g says

request for more proof of relationship

fiance presence recommended

Ok so it is written directly on the 221g…that makes things a little trickier. Sorry for all the questions as I know that this is a hard time for you. What evidence do you have of your relationship? Was he able to present it all to the CO? Do you have additional evidence you could gather up that you didn’t send for the initial interview?

Honestly as much as it sucks and is near impossible for you to go down there it really isn’t an outrageous request. They have suspicions of the validity of your relationship and they just want to make sure everything is legit. I think you have a couple of options…

1 – Call the embassy and see if you can answer any questions via phone. Also ask what other types of evidence they would like to see.

2 – Get your congressperson involved although I don’t think this will do any good to be honest. They haven’t asked anything illegal or unethical. They are well within their rights to request an interview with you.

3 – Get a lawyer to see if you can pursue other ways of meeting the requirements – would cost a lot of money and probably isn’t really worth it IMO

4 – Write an affidavit regarding the extreme hardship that it will take for you to travel back to JA citing the examples that you told us but with more detail. Also state that you are willing to answer any and all questions via phone and gather any type of evidence that they would require. I would then gather a ridiculous amount of evidence (anything at all that confirms you are a legit couple) and send him back to the embassy with the affidavit and all the extra evidence.

5 - Save up/beg/borrow and steal money to get down there and show up at the interview. I know that you want him here asap but you don't have to get there in any timeframe. If it took you a couple of months to get a quick trip together that is definitely a possibility...while it doesn't sound good now it is an option.

Those are just some ideas off the top of my head…not sure what you are wanting to do or what you are comfortable doing…

Jamie is the best (F)

Did your fiance get the CO's name who conducted the interview? Or is it on the blue ship? If so, I would try calling him directly or writing him a letter.

Congrats Jlvr!!! :dance::dance::dance:

Finesse - Girl, I would definitely call your congressman and whoever else you can think of! That is ridiculous that they want you to be there! I too work 2 jobs and I can't go back to Jamaica for a long time! Get tough, hang in there as I KNOW you WILL get through this! *HUGE HUG*

Now a question:

I am moving into a different apartment next week, who do I contact to change my address?

There was a form I filled out and mailed in. Forget what it is called now; but it was on the forms page of the visa website. It won't make much of a difference now. Nothing will come to you until you do some more filing anyhow.

I have not been on in ages but I logged on and read what was going on.

While Jamie (of course) gave you some wonderful advice...I would like to back her up.

Your congress person can definitely help, they helped Henry and I and it worked!

I would not hire a lawyer because for the money you spend on him you could have flown to JA ten times, check out the prices. Maybe the situation is getting more serious in JA and we need to be there. When we did ours it was over 2 years ago, things change very quickly in the immigration world.

Congrats otherwise and I'll try to sign on more frequently.

Time flies when you're having fun! Henry and I just moved into OUR FIRST HOUSE last week, home owners at last! :star:

Congrats Doodle and hubby  Hopefully we're next.

Have you had issues with any of his friends yet? We've gotten calls to send anything from $20-$200 to help with food, a cell phone, buying a car, and plane tickets.

This still drives me crazy and Tony's been here almost 3 years now! Parents, cousins, friends, ... everyone thinks we're rich just because we live a 'farrin. And Tony hates to tell them that he's broke - I just wish they'd quit asking for stuff. He was talking to his dad the other day and getting his clothes and shoe sizes - he told him he's going to bring him some stuff in August. Instead, his dad asked for money to buy a boat motor :o Sorry - you're gonna have to settle for some pants, a shirt, and some new shoes!!! We already spent over $300 on clothes and shoes for his 2 kids and $$$ for his mom and 2 nieces. The list just goes on and on.

Oh, great...........so it never ends! One day when Andre and I were particularly stressing about money, I told him if one person.......just one person.....called from JA that day and asked for money, I was going to smash the phone to bits!!!!! Lucky for our phones, no one chose to call that day.

But that's what he got for going home funky fresh  it's hard having 3 fashionable brothers who all wears the same size. He didn't make the same mistake his second trip.
