for inquiring minds...

my man had his medical last week at andrews hospital in kingston....he had NO shot records and the medical and the shots cost him only $175 total...we were prepared for it to be close to 300 so we were happy only having to pay $175. He was in and out of there in 2 hours and everyone there was really nice/supportive/professional and wished him the best. i only hope the interview goes as smooth...

My fiance had his on the 30th. He didn't have any records either and I think it cost him about $100. I think. He went to the place in Kingston, not the one on Hope Road, the other one.

You can put him on your utility if he has a ss #. He doesn't need to be present. I know several ppl that have utility bills in their children/dog names esp w/Comcast.

But he can't get a SS# until a couple of weeks after he's been here. If we're trying to make the 7/30 deadline that might take too long.

I thought u needed the utility bills for the actually interview not the packet.

You're probably right. I'm going to go with what Jomo's girl said and just send in the paperwork.

Just starting the journey, haven't yet filed... Until today(2/12/07)!

Today hubby finally got his hair done and his hair braided he is happy now. :). We joined blockbusters movie rental deal so he is totally happy he will be receiving lots of movies. One funny thing that happened this week the tornado drill alarm went of Tuesday morning. They test the alarm system but I forgot to tell him. I was at work so he ran to the basement and was totally freaked out. He called my father and he told him it was a drill that he would live. I laughed my head off when he told me. He said my dad didn't think it was that funny. He is deathly afraid that a tornado is going to hit our house.

My dad must love my hubby. He gave Dwain money without telling me. It was suppose to be a father son secret but I ran out of money this week and Dwain said he could help out. Dwain said my father came up to him and asked if he needed pocket change. Dwain has been saying that my father loves him a lot after the wedding. Dad even went shopping for clothes for Dwain before he came. Having a support father I think is a big help. So that is are update. It has been exactly one week today. O.K. I need to get off he is begging to pick out his movies on blockbuster online. :)

Just curious, what does breast-feeding have to do with never being sick?? I never breast fed my son and knock on wood, the last time he was actually sick was about 4 yrs ago. He never ever gets sick, has white straight teeth (takes after my side of the family). He had his adenoids/tonsils out when he was 5 but other than that??

I've been doing some research on this myself for obvious reasons

Breastfeeding protects your baby from gastrointestinal trouble, respiratory problems, and ear infections

• Breastfeeding can protect your baby from developing allergies.

• Breastfeeding may boost your child's intelligence

• Breastfeeding may protect against obesity later in life

• Breastfeeding may protect your baby from childhood leukemia

• Breastfeeding may protect your baby from developing type 1 diabetes

• Breastfeeding may protect preemies from infections and high blood pressure later in life

• Breastfeeding may lower your baby's risk of SIDS

I don't think we sent any "proof" with our AOS application. We did bring some stuff to the interview though - bank statements in both our names, ticket stubs from a vacation we took together, wedding pics, etc... And then 2 years later you will need a TON of proof to lift "conditions" (I-751) - we just sent ours in

Are the tins of ackee any good? Dwain said they aren't great.

Not really  They're nothing like the real thing. Once in awhile they're ok if you're really craving it, but I have a hard time paying that much for a tin!! Now if it were the real thing, I'd pay it with a smile :D

Hey Ladies. Okay so what I want to know is has anybody brought your husbands kids over AFTER they have immigrated here? I hear something about 1 year. Did it have to be done within 1 year of being in the US. NEil came up on K1 visa and it has been 1 year since he arrived. So do we have to start over to immigrate his daughter here or what? Im not sure what I am doing here...I see the guide, but not sure of our situation.

You'll have to start over.

They have some pretty good advice in 'Bringing Family Members to the USA'

They aren't hugely different from the real thing.....And definitely worth getting when you have NO prospect of getting REALL ackee!

you know it all depends on your personal choice...both of the mom's i have worked for tried and it just didn't work...not because they had twins...but because on didn't have enough milk the other the girls mouth was so tiny(only weighed in at 4 pounds) that she couldn't fit her mouth around her mom's breast..and her son clamped and she said it really hurt...so what she decided was just to pump and give it them in a bottle until she ran out and switched to formula...and they have really only been sick a couple of times...

Same boat here, Tia. I pay $435 a month out of my paycheck for Andre's insurance. So wanting to drop that. On the bright side, in one year, he's had 2 ER visits and a few doctor. It has definately paid for itself in the end.

$435 :o:o WOW!!!

wow that is a lot. I pay 65 dollars a month for me. Putting my husband on will cost us 145 a month. I need to add him soon. Maybe I should call mania.

It was really quiet in here today. I only had one page to read!! :hehe:

I am really craving ackee and saltfish and roast breadfruit :P I don't know if they're pregnancy cravings or just because I miss Jamaica and can't wait for our vacation in August!! The tin ackee is about $18 at the JA store near me :o

Are the tins of ackee any good? Dwain said they aren't great.

The tins are okay. In a pinch, they are better then nothing.

Here's my take on this.

Andre came through Miami. We married. We filed for the EAD and the AOS at the same time. In Missouri, they would not allow him to apply for a social security card until one of those came through. Without SSN, the bank wouldn't allow us to put him on my accounts, no Driver's license, no state ID, pretty much no nothing. The AOS happened to come through first, without an interview. If we had even had an interview, without the AOS to start the whole ball rolling, he would not have been on anything anyhow. So, the fact that they approved him without adding him to anything at all before, just makes sense.
