I only need to file this if he is working correct? If he is not working after our marriage do i still have to get an ITIN number?

Let me see if I can find the link.

No it doesn't matter if he is working or not. Javon hasn't been working since he went home from Cayman so for wages/tips I just entered my income. He is your husband so he needs to be on your tax return. You can only file married filing separately, married filing jointly, or head of household (if you qualify). Check out the following IRS link. It's the the actual W-7 ITIN application w/instructions.

If you file single you are lying and can cause problems down the road. I do my own taxes (learned how to in college) and if I have questions I call the IRS line at 800-829-1040 or speak to a tax accountant that is close to the family. There is also many threads in the off-topic and CR-1 forum that talks about it as well. Based on the IRS guidelines for filing...12/31 of the tax year (which in your case is 12/31/07) determines what filing status to fall under.

Yes they take one at the interview. We only have one left. That we need to use for my new soc card and passport.

I would apply for the CR1 visa with the copy your minster gives you that day of your marriage. Photocopy it and send it in. That saved us a good 3 months on waiting for the marriage licenses.

the size how much it will cost. He usualy recieved the mail in 5 days.

Jax I spoke to a couple of other ppl and both recv'd a RFE for not having the original marriage cert. I think it just depends on the IMO but I wouldn't risk it.

Then I wonder why I didn't get an RFE for that? It still would of saved me time if I got an RFE because we had to wait three months. The congressman said it was fine. I think it doesn't hurt to try.

I think it's b/c you had the "hook up". Your congressman was able to stamp your petition and I know for a fact congressional services are normally priority over everyone else. Also if she's in JA it shouldnt' take that long to get the marriage cert. It only took us 2 wks but took him to some time to send it to me.

Nysness, did you expedite your certificate to get it in 2 weeks or did you just go the normal route? i will be in JA for 4 weeks after my wedding, so if we can save money by having it sent to the JA address and still get it in 2 weeks I'd do that.

Honestly I'm not sure I want to say yes...because I was stressing the Pastor about it and he kept saying yes, yes. Javon was like (jeez calm down). But I knew once I was on the plane and back home he was on his own. I knew he could handle it BUT I'm a pessimist so YOU KNOW how that goes. We paid a total of $17K JD for the entire wedding which included the ceremony and two original marrige certificates.

Are you getting married at a resort or in church? Church weddings seem to get them quicker b/c they dont' have to go thru the extra tape. I know our pastor is also a JP b/c there was a few things we needed him to notarize. You should be able to pick up the certificate instead of having it mailed. The church wasn't far from the house.

Ok I spoke to Javon the marrige cert was regular processing. He said the expediated service was an add'l $7000K for 3 days so we didn't do it b/c our funds were low.

This is kind of how Andre feels. Although, you get enough phone calls and enough stress from said phone calls and eventually you just stop taking the calls at all.

I really feel for. If you knew any of the horror stories, you would wonder why the guy would think of her at all.

Just goes to show the calibre of man he is.....Takes a damn fine man to be able to look past that, even if it can be frustrating....

I found though, in my experience, not speaking to your parents is a cardinal sin in Jamaica.

Whereas here people will say they don't speak to their parents and it's no big deal, in Jamaica most times the reaction will be of amazement....

That's so true. My brother-in-law was also going thru the same thing w/his dad. His mom came up to the states a long time ago and his dad put him out for his new girlfriend. He was living in the streets for a while then decided to join the force b/c they gave you a place to stay plus a job. Now his dad calls daily asking for money saying he sick and need money to see doctor. But you know what he sends it EVERY TIME just to show him he's the bigger man. He said things happen and ppl make mistake but regardless it's still his father. So true!!

I have a minor rant...just when I thought we were completely done with visa #######...I found out that my husband needs another. We were planning on spending 3 weeks trekking across Europe at the end of the summer. We were going to start in London - come to find out, he needs a visa to enter the UK. Not only that, but it costs $132. I haven't looked into the other countries that we wanted to visit, but i'm sure we'll have to apply for a separate visa for each country. That will significantly add to the cost of what is already an expensive tour.

Dammit, I feel like this damn immigration business is a burden that I'd rather not deal with. AARRRRRGH!!!

~rant over~

Sorry to hear :(

Once he's eligible for citizenship have him file ASAP, that way no extra charges...

Depending on which countries in Europe you are going to, you can apply for a Schengen visa, that covers 15 of the 25 all for one price rather than having to apply seperately....Here's a link

http://www.eurovisa.info/BackgroundInfo.htm

this is great, thanks so much!!

I'm getting married in a local church not a hotel, so hopefully the Pastor can assist us in getting the certificates faster. I know the resorts hike up the fees also, and its much less to get married as a local in a local church. Something like $20 US for the certificate and the pastor is obviously free but we will definitely pay him something.

Mine as well, it's unfornunate, cause hubby would not even call his mother on mothers day, not even on a day to day basis to check to see how's doing, says it too depressing because no matter how much money he sends it's not enough. He sent money to his father because he knew he woudn't blow it instead used it in the household to help them both, his mother was upset cause she felt like the money should have gone to her. Supposed ly called all the family talking all theis stuff about hose he'smaking all this money and not taking care of her  I want to say where was she when he was walking around bare footed cause he didn't even have shoes to put on his feet :blush:This lady has a lot of guilt about giving him away when he was little. The two times I met her, she would cry cause she feels, or at least she told me that she was sorry for how she treated him when he was little, but when you talk to her it's a differnent story.

Males me mad to hear stories like this......Heard so many instances where the so called 'parent' treats the child so badly growing up and yet as soon as they go abroad they feel their son/daugher owes them something.....What is frustrating is that often even though the son/daughter recognises the bad treatment, they often still feel because their parent brought them into the world, they should help.

This is probably our BIGGEST challenge (next to finances--which goes hand in hand). Craig's mother calls EVERY Wed night (starting at 10:30pm)/Thurs morning (starting at 6am) and then just keeps calling until he answers....... asking for money!!! I blocked her from calling the house phone (because it's also my business line) because she calls at ALL hours saying it's an emergency!! She works too ! Craig will NOT be honest and tell her that he's not working, he just keeps promising her which in turn makes her call a million times.

She "left" him when she was little (grandmother raised him) and came back into his life about 7 yrs ago. She's a nice person.....but.......the calling JUST for money drives ME absoLUTELY crazy !!!!!!!! Then he feels extreeeeeemely guilty and then takes that out on me, which is SO not right !!!! I said after we pay our bills, etc etc and if money "fits" into the budget, than we can send money...but do NOT promise it !!!

I told him JUST BE HONEST !!! It's frustrating as all get out. She's the only one that calls and asks for money. Most of his closest relatives and friends are here in the states. I know that it's hard and a struggle, but we have "our" struggles here to !!!

If she could ONLY call to see how he (we) are doing..............different story!!!

It may be hard for Craig to 'admit' he isn't working, he may want to spin his mother this picture of him doing really well in the US etc etc....Hope it's HIS phone she calls! She may also think that he's able to afford it, I remember when I first came back to England, I never imagined anyone here WASN'T rich by Jamaican standards.

I stopped giving out my house phone to ANYONE in Jamaica years ago lol....I have a Sony Ericsson here, have had them for years because they have a feature that screens calls. You can add the names in your phonebook to groups, then add the groups to your allowed list, anyone else calling goes STRAIGHT to voicemail!!

You are preaching to the choir on this one, Kel. I could repeat that nearly word for word, just putting Andre's name in place of Craig's.

That is EXACTLY what hurts Andre the worst. She never calls to see HOW he is doing. Just calls every other Friday like clockwork!

So make it good, make it last 'cause it all flies by so fast

You only get one trip

Ummm hi everyone? I hope I haven't inadvertantly made people mad at me. It seems that lately when I post I am ignored. So if I offended anyone, sorry?

I just wanted to pop in and say hi. My NOA2 should be right around the corner.

I will have so many questions post NOA2 stage and I hope I don't become a pest!

Thanks I am so nervous but at least I am following JG's advice not to stress about it! I know it's there just out of my grasp. One question I do have is must I send the original NOA2 to Marlon or will a copy suffice? I have heard of people getting charged for misplacing theirs!?!?
