Last time I was in Mobay I paid $4000J a day. The person who handles my companies employee transportation in Mobay arranged it for me. We aren't operating right now, and won't be again until probably August, but I could call him and arrange something for you.

I know we talked about this before but what is the cheapest place to rent a car in MoBay? Dwain needs to move his belongings to his mothers house. He has many items he will not be bring up to the states. He told me the cheapest he could find is 150 dollars a day and he has to rent the car for at least 2 days. Is there any better options out there?

Thanks

Jax

If you have your interview after Oct 15 2009, you will get a IR-1 Visa instead of a CR-1, and will not have to file to lift conditions. Green Card and SS card will come in the mail 2 weeks after your husband arrives in the US and you'll be done for 3 years (Citizenship).

Ok, I just wanted to add a ticker...carry on

I read about this at http://www.naptownreggae.com the local connection. We are considering going. Chitown's not that far from Indy.

For those living in the Chicagoland area there is a Reggae Boat Party on Sat June 17th on the Odessey at Navy Pier. It's has 3 levels (Reggae, soca/calyso (sp), and hip/hop) and tickets are on sale at various carribean stores in Chicago. Many artists and DJ will be playing that night. I went to a couple of them and always had a nice time.

Yes, but this isn't Jamaica. I know a guy who ended up shooting 3 people on one of those party boats in Mobay. Eventually he got off that charge, but ended up getting lock up during a Kingpin bust. I was renting an apartment from him on Mobay back in 2002.

I hope it is Saturday June 16th!! I wouldn't be able to go on the 17th being fathers day.

It's actually Sat June 16th. It's the Father's Day VIP Boat Cruise. Check this website for the flyer. Click "enter" and then "events" to the right. Tickets are $60 for single entry & $100 for couples.

:crying: I wish I could go.

We aren't going my husband says to dangerous on a boat  . I guess we will have to wait until July to see who is going to the Fest then. Oh well.

Have fun Anna

I remember a few years ago I went and the DJ said to rock the boat like the Titanic...it was crazy!!! The boat was moving side to side and I was getting nervous, thought we were going down.... Girl I can't swim so I would have been salty for real...

:lol: He said he watchs the news and has seen people die on party boats. I could rescue you I use to be a lifeguard back in the day.

Things could be different, but my case was denied for the same reason, but was a K3 rather than K1, so the I-130 was already applied for. It was approved 11 months after the K3 was denied at the embassy. It was approved even though there was a 3 year ban. Of course it was denied at the embassy, but the case remained active until the 3 years were up. I did not need to refile.

Hey everybody!! I have a question: Who do I call about clarification in regards to being able to file for the CR-1 visa BEFORE Gregory's eligibility to receive a visa comes around...since I originally assumed that we wouldn't even be able to apply for a visa until 2009, I hadn't given it much thought. However with this new info, I guess it wouldn't hurt to ask. After all, receiving the visa (in hand) and applying for one could be construed as two different things...if so, then maybe we could start the filing process late next year...

You know when I read about you waiting to file for 3 years, I thought that was correct as well because of WHY he was denied. Even though many people have said file the CR-1 before that 3 years, I am still wondering.

Hi Belly's Girl.....

I don't think you can refile before the 3 years. When our denial came through (for the same thing)...I was going to try the other route...and spoke to 3 attorney's...and they all said that it doesn't change the outcome of the prior denial. I'm sure there are lawyers out there that will take the case for the cash....but I would be very careful. Good luck! And best wishes on the upcoming wedding!

The 3 year ban is not controlled by Kingston, they just use the existing laws. It is a 3 year period starting at the last time you admitted to smoking weed, or from the date of the interview if tested positive.

Hey just dipping in on your conversation, and I just wanted to say that I got so scared recently about the same thing my husband testing positive, so I rescheduled his interview date. I just didn't want to deal with traveling to jamaica for 3 more years I prefer to wait 3 mths for a reschedule. I must that VJ cause I didn't know that I could have gotten a reschedule thanks guys. But good time go by quickly and you can start again....good luck

I spoke to a consular officer who used to work in Kingston. She said it's up to the officer how long the ban should be. She used to tell people to come back in six months but they can ban you up to 10 years :o

And she said it's worse to admitting to smoking than testing positive

Rhonda...how are you feeling these days?

I still have morning/all day sickness. It comes and goes. I hate feeling nauseous :( I hope it gets better after the first trimester. Other than that, I'm just tired - of course I'm always tired with all my crazy work schedules and working 6 days a week!

OMG  - I've been gone for way too long!!! Rhonda's pregnant :dance::dance::dance:

and to think....all those times you put ME at the top of the list :)

Congrats!!!

Congrats

Kingston is one of very few Embassies who test routinely for drugs. Consular Officers in other Embassies can request drug testing but it's up to the officer. My co-worker worked in Kingston for 3 years and interviewed hundreds of couples. She's been a consular officer for over 20 years....worked in many Embassies and she said Kingston is way different from the others.

My co-worker told individuals who tested positive to come back in six months because she felt like her fellow consular officers discriminated against Jamaicans...some gave out 10 year bans. Maybe she was biased because she fell married a Jamaican.

Hey guys, I'm getting ready to file to lift "conditions" for Tony's Permanent Resident card. Here's what I have so far for evidence of our "bona fide" marriage:

Copy of Anthony’s Permanent Resident card – front & back

Copies of bank statements from our joint savings and checking accounts

Copies of our jointly filed tax returns from 2004, 2005, and 2006

Copies of our home owners and auto insurance policies

Copies of various cell phone bills addressed to both of us

Copies showing Anthony as my dependant for my health, dental, & vision insurance

Copies showing Anthony as the beneficiary of my 401k savings plan

Copies of airline ticket stubs from numerous trips that we took together

Affidavits (2) from family and a friend

Numerous postmarked envelopes addressed to both of us

Numerous photos of us together throughout the past 3 years

Is this good? Am I forgetting anything? Hopefully we wont' have to have an interview.
