For those living in the Chicagoland area there is a Reggae Boat Party on Sat June 17th on the Odessey at Navy Pier. It's has 3 levels (Reggae, soca/calyso (sp), and hip/hop) and tickets are on sale at various carribean stores in Chicago. Many artists and DJ will be playing that night. I went to a couple of them and always had a nice time.

That sounds like fun  I wish I lived in Chicago!!! Does the boat sail out on Lake Michigan?

i love grey's anatomy!!!! tomorow is the season finale!!! it looks really good!!!

i can't wait for the spin off that looks like a good show as well...

I was sooooo mad about the season finale  I think it sucked!! Nothing but bad news - George failing his test, Berk ditching Christina, Meredith acting as if she's breaking up w/ Derek, Izzie professing her undying love for George to no avail, etc.. I was not happy with it at all :ranting:

Rhonda...how are you feeling these days?

I still have morning/all day sickness. It comes and goes. I hate feeling nauseous :( I hope it gets better after the first trimester. Other than that, I'm just tired - of course I'm always tired with all my crazy work schedules and working 6 days a week!

OMG  - I've been gone for way too long!!! Rhonda's pregnant :dance::dance::dance:

and to think....all those times you put ME at the top of the list :)

Congrats!!!

I've seen lots a few people here experienced problems in their relationships and I admire the stength shown by some of these women.

I found out lately that my fiance has lied to me on more than one occasion, once about a very important issue. I think I'm close to approval or at least an RFE because my file was touched for the first time in over 4 weeks.

I'm just not certain anymore that I want to go through with this. She admitted her lies and I still love her a lot, and that is the only thing that keeps me holding on right now.

I could take the easy way out and forgive her, but I just don't know. I have a big dilema. I have to footing all the financial bills in this relationship and I know it's going to be hard on her if I stop the process, but the lies are bothering me to such and extent that I don't think I can go on with her,

I have made a few friends and family members aware of this and I'm sure I would be laughed at if I should continue and bring here but I love here so much I'm tempted to forgive her. Your input will be greatly appreciated.

Wayne

I am really sorry that you're going through that. My husband and I have had our fair share of trial and tribulations, lies, and the whole nine. You really need to decide if this is something that you want to go through with now before the case moves forward. Sit and talk with her and have a serious heart to heart. Let her know how her lies have affected you. Be honest with her and with yourself and only move forward if your heart AND mind tell you to. Good luck!

Congrats Ebony! That sounded so easy

Congrats Shauna! You should be good to go now

Well back in April I applied for a job with the county sheriffs office as a records specialist. I went in for civil service testing yesterday (which was pretty hard honestly) but I passed everything with great scores. Now I have to wait to see if I am selected for oral boards (scored interview by a panel including the chief examiner) if I pass that I have to go through background checks and polygraph testing. Then they combine your scores from everything and make a list of the top however many and choose from that. Trust me it is quite the process and they say it will be another 4-6 weeks til they choose someone and it has already been almost 2 months! Crazy!

Anyways I am excited to have passed...hopefully I can pass the rest. Working for the county would pay almost 40% more plus all the great state benefits. Plus once you are in you are in

Hi Jamie!!! It's been a long time. Glad to hear that you passed your tests and I hope you get the job - that would be awesome.

Today Sean went to his interview. he says it only took 5 minutes. he said he got the same interviewer from april 27. he asked him how is ebony and he said she is fine. he said he was sooooo nervous. well the iterviewer asked him for the affidavit of support and he gave him ebony's and they told him that ebony doesnt work full time jokingly, and sean gave them my moms affidavit of support and then the guy said ...now thats more like it. then he told him ....you are a lucky man and said welcome to america and told him where to go have the visa delivered. he is supposed to get it in 5 to 7 days in lucea which is in hanover.

that's wonderful - glad it was easy. CONGRATS!!!

what shipping method does everyone use to ship packages to ja? I have always used the regular postal service which is reasonably priced but takes forever to get there. I want to send a package to get there in no more than a week...but don't want to pay a ridiculous amount of money...any thoughts?

FEDEX has always been reliable and moderately priced!

Ok, I have a question.

What did you/are you going to do about money??

Is he going to have an allowance?

Are you going to just give him an extra bank card?

If you do, are you/do you put a limit on what he can spend?

Have you thought about how much he should contribute when he gets a job? Or how did you work that out??

I will still be getting paid full pay for like 18 months after I move, but have told him he'll have to take my cards, I am hopeless about saving money, I waste every penny I earn lol...Even going to have him change my Paypal password (I'm an Ebay addict too!)

So what we're going to do is sit down and work out how much I'm allowed to squander per month, which will be put in my account which I'll have a debit card for.

Once I start working, we're thinking about keeping the squandering money the same and just saving whatever the surplus is from my wages...Obviously this will work because he doesn't spend much at all and I know I have a problem with spending wisely...

We talked a little bit about this, but not with specifics. Mostly about how he will feel having to rely on me financially. It's probably a discussion that we should have more in depth. My assumption has been that he won't really need much money in the beginning. He doesn't drive, so he wouldn't be going anywhere without me. He has a debit card of mine right now and I would probably just let him continue to hold on to that one and keep money in that account for him. Probably add his name to the account so that he can begin establishing that history.

As far as what he will contribute when he is working, it is my expectation (probably incorrect  ) that the majority of his income will go to paying our expenses. I have a tendency to stock my household so that there is no want for anything, so again, he shouldn't need much extra cash. There are things that will be included in our expenses, like sending money back home, saving for both of our children and saving towards future goals. I expect that when we go out, it won't be him or me that is paying the bill, but both because our income will be combined. When he has an income. :D

All of this is probably a little naive, but I guess we'll just have to see how it goes and adjust accordingly. Praying for peaceful financial negotiations.

I kind of thought that too until he went to his first mall and his eyes grew wide. In the beginning, he will want everything and NEED everything (shoes are a big thing) and you will have to reign them in without feeling like you are denying them anything.

SO TRUE!!!!!!!!!!! mike is still like that...being here for almost 6 months....he still needs this wants that....i got home from work late last night and we greated by a ad for nike shoes and him saying i want this i need these shoes....and it just starts to get at you after a while cause when will he get it that he does not need these things and does not have to have 7 pairs of shoes...or a pair of jeans for every single day of the week...it just starts to get to you when every day you hear the same things over and over again

I don't live like that (well, okay, I have a lot of shoes...) and I certainly don't intend for him to live like that. While I have a lot of clothes, I don't do name brands. And if I can't afford it for myself and my children, I can't afford it for him. If he wants name brand and shoes to match every outfit, he'll have to wait for his own income. I can't justify buying him things that I don't buy for my children.

I did it like this.....if he wanted something really bad, it first of all, had to be on sale. Then, we had to budget it in. I got him hooked on Old Navy clothes cause I work there and get a discount on top of watching for clearance sales. For basics, he will not pay more then a few dollars for anything and loves when I got him all those t-shirts for 38 cents a piece. When he saw the 78 cent flip flops, he nearly cried. He's really funny cause he will go shopping after work (the bus picks him up and drops him at the mall) and he'll say "I really want this pair of shorts; but it's $40 right now. I know you said in July, they will be going on clearance. I'm waiting for them." When we got our tax return refund back, he got $100 to blow on whatever he wanted....he ended up with a pair of shoes, a pair of "slippers" and a Timberland belt. Just a few weeks ago, I felt bad cause there was some pair of shoes on clearance he wanted; but we weren't paid for another week. I told him he could get them next week. Of course, they were gone by then. The brakes.

The point of all this is that they will be like a kid in a candy store. You have to diplomatically tell them no. And, don't kid yourself into thinking it will be easy. No matter what they say, they will not get it until they live it.

Truer words have never been spoken!

Interesting conversation...

tee hee hee  Thanks ladies!! Keep buying! I'm addicted to ebay too - but I want to sell everything! I've already sold a gold belly button ring ($63) a pair of silver boots ($15) a pair of black boots ($36) and some concert tickets for Gwen Stefani that I had extras of. I need to find more stuff to sell!!

I have SOOOO many clothes that I can't take with me, just in the process of selling them all. I also sell the clothes my son has grown out of.

I love designer brands but not willing to spend the money for them in the normal shops.

My favorite brands are Burberry and Moschino but they cost a FORTUNE in the states (they still cost loads here though)

Just bought a GORGEOUS Burberry shorts and shirt outfit for the baby, brand new with tags, for £17!!!!

Made a lot of money these past two weeks, my Paypal account is £150 in credit!!

Was thinking of selling photo restoration services on Ebay once I get to the states, will see how that works out.

Ebay can also be good if you have time at home, if you know the prices of certain goods, you can make good money buying it cheap and relisting it for a profit.

PM me your Ebay user name and store! I'd love to get some stuff from you (I love the fashion from UK, I rarely buy anything here unless it comes from NY via Internet)

Congrats to all those that are finally moving upward on their visa journeys

Eric - does your wife like the Jamaican Internet channel bundle I mentioned here earlier?

Those with wedding dates - (L)

And happy belated Mothers Day to everyone

hold up hold up hold up --- a suh long mi nuh deyah. BOMBART!!! JONESIE --- I see the baby ticker at the bottom of your siggy!!! You're preggo too!!!!!:dance::dance::dance: Congratulations honey.

dang, there must be something in the vj water...

Hey everyone...

So my move this past weekend was successful...nothing out of the ordinary. It is definitely different though...

Anyways I am asking for your prayers/kind words/love/or whatever else you can throw my way...things have definitely gotten ugly :( and the ####### is hitting the fan. I have and always will remain the bigger person with integrity and respect but it is getting really hard as the truth and all the gory details are starting to emerge. Andre has chosen to bad mouth me to basically everyone and while I am choosing to keep my mouth shut and if I do speak only speak facts, it is really getting hard. Andre has made himself out to be the victim and is playing it up for all its worth and all he can get out of it...which is really sad because what he says to me is usually the opposite of what he has been telling others :crying: Don't want to be a downer but would love some prayers.

Jamie, you will most certainly be in my prayers. I hope all works out for the best (((hugs)))).
