Ebony: You guys will always be in my thoughts and prayers! Be sure to tell us how it goes, everything!

Hope I can teach Marlon that he will not be needing a different color pair of Timberlands for the days of the week, with matching shirts!

Congrats Ebony! That sounded so easy

Congrats Shauna! You should be good to go now

Well back in April I applied for a job with the county sheriffs office as a records specialist. I went in for civil service testing yesterday (which was pretty hard honestly) but I passed everything with great scores. Now I have to wait to see if I am selected for oral boards (scored interview by a panel including the chief examiner) if I pass that I have to go through background checks and polygraph testing. Then they combine your scores from everything and make a list of the top however many and choose from that. Trust me it is quite the process and they say it will be another 4-6 weeks til they choose someone and it has already been almost 2 months! Crazy!

Anyways I am excited to have passed...hopefully I can pass the rest. Working for the county would pay almost 40% more plus all the great state benefits. Plus once you are in you are in

For those of you that have recently filed for the CR-1 visa, what forms do you need to file initially? On this site it states that you need the I-130 and the G325 A. On the Dept. of State website it states that you need the I-130 and the DS230 along with the I-864. Which did you guys do FIRST?

First you will need to submit the I-130 and G-325A forms along w/the necessary documents to USCIS. Once you recv your approval your case will se sent to the NVC. At that stage the I-864 and DS-230 part 1 along w/your spouse biographical page will be needed then. Also if he doesn't have access to email then you might want to bring the DS-3032 (Choice of Agent) form.

I'm not sure how often you will be traveling to JA (after the wedding) but it may be a good idea to bring ALL the forms and have him sign them. Make sure he doesn't date them so you can once it's due w/o paying add'l mailing charges.

Thanks...I know this is WAAAAYYY premature since we can't even file again until Oct. of 2009, but I just wanted an idea of the order of things...I'm not really pressed right now about getting anything done, just wanted an idea of how it would go...unfortunately I will have many many trips to JA between now and then....unless, by God's grace some miracle occurs and they actually happen to take a real look at our case again... :(

It's ok I know how it can be. I like to know any and everything about something before I jump into it.

what shipping method does everyone use to ship packages to ja? I have always used the regular postal service which is reasonably priced but takes forever to get there. I want to send a package to get there in no more than a week...but don't want to pay a ridiculous amount of money...any thoughts?

I normally sent them FedEx but I get 75% off b/c my brother-in-law works at FedEx Kinko's. I'm not sure how much they normally cost but the packages usually get their within a week.

Congratulations to eric on the green card and to Belwin Mills on the visa.

As far as passports and things, how does it work if I hyphenate? Do I still have to change all my legal documents? What about if I don't hyphenate and do [firstname] [maidenname] [marriedname]? I don't want to do away with my own name, I'd still like to be able to use it.

JLVR - you have to legally change your name hyphenated or not. I didn't drop my maiden name. All I had to show was my marriage certificate when I applied for my passport.

But does that mean all of my documents have to change, also, like my SS card, driver's license, passport? I still want to be able to go by [firstname] [maidenname] when I want or need to. :(

My sister changed her name but she still has her state ID in her maiden name for personal reasons.

For a letter to JA or documents I use DHL i paid $28.00 for 2 day delivery

Ebony - Congratulations!!!!!

My husband can care less about clothes. I try matching up stuff for him all he says is as long as their clean, he don't care. I'm hoping when he comes here he will care a little bit about fashion.

Don't feel bad I'm the same way. As a woman you would think I love shopping but it's the total opposite. I could care less. My daughter on the other hand is something else. I try to shop for her but most of the names she's calling out I have NO IDEA!!!
