I have heard that was only good for six months before being submitted. Not really sure about that part. But I do know for a fact that Kingston considers it valid for 1 year after issue date once it is accepted.

We both believe that we will never use an evil credit card again and just stick to debit.

What's wrong with credit cards? I LOVE my credit cards. I have a Northwest Visa and I earn tons of miles each month - I'm flying for free again to Jamaica this August on my frequent flyer miles  I almost always pay off my cards in full every month - I don't believe in paying interest! I guess if you're only going to pay the minimum payment each month, you could get in BIG trouble!

I just believe you spend more with a credit card. It is a lot easier to give plastic cause emotional it doesn't hurt. Now giving out a 100 dollar bill hurts emotonial. This is my method that helps me. I can pay credit cards off each month but I like to have a plan. I use to think the same way you did until I read a book and also landed in the hospital with out an emergency plan put in place. I only had 1000 in savings but it didn't help and then I had to pay off my credit cards and car all at once with doctors plus hospital cards. To me those trip incentivites aren't worth it. I put my saved money in the stock market in oil refiners. Its all up to the individual. This is just my take.

We finally got a date set for our wedding, it will be June 2

Congrats on the wedding date! Dangit how'd you beat me? So will it big a nice little celebration, or a small justice of the peace type ceremony?

Thanks Marlita! It's going to be a small justice ceremony with a big reception. Me and my best friend plan to have a double wedding next year. It looks like the date is going to change to May 26th.

PAM- Congrats on the wedding date!!!

Dwain got a phone call Thursday to go pick up his visa!! Wow that was short it only took one week from the interview  . My father and I hung all Jamaican art in our bedroom yesterday and awhile ago I had our bedroom painted his favorite color blue. He will be here soon only 19 days left! Now I am trying to convience him to skip the GED part and take placement exams to our commuity college. This would save us time on him getting a degree and he could start some music classes right away. But he still thinks he should go to get the GED cause he graduated highschool in 98. I don't know how to convience him that he can skip this part and start with the basics at the community college. Any suggestions? I stole a job recomdation letter that said he went to highschool and was a fair student. My Aunt who works at the college said it should work and that I would need to talk to the lady who deals with international students.

Congrats on the quick receipt of the Visa Jax:dance:

9 1/2 yrs.... Your time has finally come

tee hee hee  Thanks ladies!! Keep buying! I'm addicted to ebay too - but I want to sell everything! I've already sold a gold belly button ring ($63) a pair of silver boots ($15) a pair of black boots ($36) and some concert tickets for Gwen Stefani that I had extras of. I need to find more stuff to sell!!

I have SOOOO many clothes that I can't take with me, just in the process of selling them all. I also sell the clothes my son has grown out of.

I love designer brands but not willing to spend the money for them in the normal shops.

My favorite brands are Burberry and Moschino but they cost a FORTUNE in the states (they still cost loads here though)

Just bought a GORGEOUS Burberry shorts and shirt outfit for the baby, brand new with tags, for £17!!!!

Made a lot of money these past two weeks, my Paypal account is £150 in credit!!

Was thinking of selling photo restoration services on Ebay once I get to the states, will see how that works out.

Ebay can also be good if you have time at home, if you know the prices of certain goods, you can make good money buying it cheap and relisting it for a profit.

PM me your Ebay user name and store! I'd love to get some stuff from you (I love the fashion from UK, I rarely buy anything here unless it comes from NY via Internet)

Congrats to all those that are finally moving upward on their visa journeys

Eric - does your wife like the Jamaican Internet channel bundle I mentioned here earlier?

Those with wedding dates - (L)

I don't know if it's still possible but other couples were completing the form online and sending to their SO or had them downloading the form themselves. And when they went to the appointment they would drop off DS-230 part 1 so the Embassy could start the processing for scheduling an interview.

We did this....just popped on in with the approval letter. I thought with the new Embassy site, you had to make an appointment to get in at all. Might look into that.

So far so good. It does not appear that she is missing Jamaica. She does want to go back in Dec for a visit, though I expect to go down for work in Aug/Sept 1-2 weeks and she wants to stay here.

She is having a bit of trouble with the accent, having to repeat herself often, so she make me do the talking when we are out shopping. What a turn around that is. In JA I'd hide so they didn't raise the price.

Her SS card came in Thursday, Friday a welcome to the US letter, and today the 10 year greencard.

Nothing more to do for 3 years.:dance::dance:

It was only 16 days, but this was a blue sheet interview that was rescheduled. I'd guess you are looking at 2-3 months.
Actually $70 isn't bad for a Razr, one usually pays less because they sign up for a plan and the cell provider charges less than the real value of the phone to get your business. That is why they gave it to you for $25, they wanted your contract. Now they have it.

Unlocked Razr's are still going for $125 total cost on ebay.

:ot:

Anyone have T-Mobile? I have a razr (btw piece of ####### phone & waste of money) and it dropped into some water. Now it's completely dead and T-Mobile is telling me I have to pay $70 for my deductible (even thought I pay $6 a month for ins). I'm a little ticked off right now b/c $70 is WAY TOO MUCH for a razr. I bought my phone for $25 back in Nov. Is there anyway to get around this ins policy? I used to be w/Sprint and they had the same type of ins but I knew how to work them so I never paid a dime.

Hey Eric how long did you have to wait when you rescheduled your wife's interview ?

het eric how are you guys managing with the adjustment period?

Congrats Eric :dance::dance:

My hubby said the same thing too he doesn't want to go back until Dec 08

He just picked up his visa today!!

My husband came in June of 2006. We were going to go back in December '06; but finances did not allow. Now, with 3 jobs to work around, finances, etc., we are hoping December '07. Not even sure that is going to happen. Andre really isn't freaking out either way.

The gal that I was talking to about sending away for Jamaican birth papers via the internet and then sending to NY for a JA passport renewal: Will you PM me please?

I sent for and got copies of his birth papers this way. Wanted to report how it went and ask if you got any info. on the passports. And, if you found out how to get the app. to print out better then when we tried before.

Anyhow, forgot your name.

Thanks.

We have an appt for next thursday to pick up the form, we could change that to drop off the form. he did a police certificate in October 06 but never went back to get it, if has the reciept and can pick it up. It's still good until october 06?

Just want to make sure I'm reading correctly.

Hi everyone! I hope all of you all had great weekends and Mother's Days. I have a question: For those of you who have gotten married or have been married to your SO for a while now, did you change your name on your passport? If so, how did that work out? Will they keep your old Passport? After I get married in Oct I'm not sure what I will do as far as name changes/documents go...I don't know how much of a hassle it will be...but I want to know if I'm going to have a hassle going back and forth to JA for the next 2 years if the last names don't match up...

PS: Eric, check your PM please!

I changed mine cause I only want to fill out only one custom's form (must have same last name) and want to go through the National's line in immigration. Thought it would be easier. You cannot use the old one....they punch something through it to render it useless and then send it back to you with the new one. It was one of the easiest things I did. Mailed back in something like 3 weeks or so.

Caution about chaning your name on the passport...i sent mine in to get changed the 14th of march...still have not gotten in back yet...because of the increase of everyone needing a passport for the regular process it is taking anywhere from 10-14 weeks....if you do it express(more mulla) i think it is like 6 weeks or something like that...you will need to check the website...yes you need 2 passport pics along with a certified marriage cert. and send in your old passport...and i think it is like 60 something for it....

I changed mine. The drivers licenses was real easy I didn't even have the orginal. When I traveled to JA this month I did not update my passport. When Dwain and I flew to Kingston and back to MoBay. We still had different last names but only needed to fill out one custom card so it was not a hassle at all. I will change my passport now just was scared because of the big wait for passports with the new rules.
