Hello friends. I want to know how long does the whole adjustment of status take for K-3 applicants. Also how much does the whole process cost. thanks for ur feedback.

Several factors affect the timing of an AOS process, FBI name checks, RFE's, and other delays, but today, it takes an average of anytime between 4 months to 6 months.. that's average, but some have gotten everything approved in 2 months, some are still waiting for over 1 year.

The whole process costs minimum $395 (just for I-485) and you add according to what you are also applying for such as I-131, I-765, etc.. also if the immigrant's medical was done over 1 yr ago, it is invalid and you will have to get another one.

Add to that AP if you want to leave the country before your green card is filed. The $395 figure is for AOS alone, EAD costs $180 and AP is $170. If you need a new medical, the costs are varied...you'll just have to call one of the civil surgeons on the list for your area and find out.

By the way....all this information is in the guides. :)

I-131 is AP and it cannot be applied for before a "green card" application is filed.

I know that. IF the OP reads the guides he'll see that. I did not indicate however that AP could be filed before AOS.

And since the OP arrived on a K3 visa, he doesn't need AP.

He also does not need to do AOS right away correct? Isn't the advantage of coming on a K3 that you come with a 2yr green card via the visa and therefore only need EAD if you want to work and AP if you want to travel?

Do you have a link to that information? I went to the site and did a search but cannot find it.

No, K3 non-immigrants still need to adjust status. But the visa itself is multiple entry and EAD can be filed prior petitioning for AOS.
