Yeah, it seems like it is. My fiance has been hunting down his doctor since we got out Noa2 and just today he got a hold of her to give him his medical records. I'll let you know what they tell him when he calls to make the appointment. This should be today or early next week.

Yay! I am so glad you have your plane tickets already!! How many days are you planning to be there for? Will you travel back with him?

I will write a comprehensive list of all I have and will take to the interview. Maybe you can do the same here and we can compare each others list :)

Yeah, I'm creating a list but haven't put it up here yet.  I will though, once I think there is nothing else to add. lol.

I heard the visa takes two weeks to be ready after the approval.  I will not be able to stay that long.  I'm staying about 2 weeks, but mostly before the interview.  So, he's going to either come to the US on his own or I go to Cuba and go with him when he is ready.  He is going to need a little time to get everything ready.  I think he wants me to be there, but not sure if I can go, etc.  Haven't figured that out yet.

I have heard that the return flight thing is NOT a requirement for the beneficiary, that it is just highly recommended.  Have you seen anything about whether we *need* to buy a roundtrip ticket for the beneficiaries?

Thanks!

I think a lot of people are doing round trip tickets because it's cheaper.

I did a one-way ticket from Havana --> Ft. Lauderdale and then Ft. Lauderdale --> to Houston in Feb, when I went to see my fiance, through Southwest and it was only $199 not including taxes and all that & with Southwest you get 2 free baggage checks. The only problem I had with Southwest is that most of the time they have trouble printing out your boarding pass when your coming from Cuba, but that's about it.

My fiance and I decided to put no, on this question. Once you put yes, it asks rank and a bunch of other things that don't apply to the kind of military service he did :) I don't know what other from Cuba gave done for this, I could not find any feedback online. But evaluating the questions and his service, saying no to this question made sense to us.

@058rocale @forena99

I was wondering about this as well. He did the mandatory military service but I don't think it was anything substantial? Also, do they have to bring any military records to the interview?

I'm going to see my fiance this weekend :) not sure what I should bring him we haven't received our NOA2 yet. I was thinking to print out one of those step-by-step versions of DS160 so we could go through it together and get all his info?

Perfect! Yes I am doing my own list too, and once I feel like I have everything I'll post it :)

Did your fiance ever got that package the embassy gives to the beneficiary?

I heard the visa takes a week to be processed haha So it does take some time after the interview. I will travel to Cuba three days before the interview and return the day after. My fiance will also need a week or so to finish up everything.

I haven't heard anything about buying a return ticket for the beneficiary. What cubaandchill says makes sense, that the reason it's because of price.

Hello Titiypablo,

From what I read you don't have to bring any documents to support the information you gave in ds-160 (apart of the birth certificate).

In my case, we also thought that it was not substantial, he did not have a rank or anything like that. I feel like it's like an ROTC in a way. I know forena answered this differently. So I guess I'll let you all know what happens at the interview. But the form says to answer at the best of our knowledge and giving the nature of the questions that fallowed saying no made sense to us.

It will be good to bring the questions of the ds-160 for both of you to review together. That way you can save important time later.

Have a wonderful time with your fiance!! :)

Antecedentes Penales/ Criminal Records

Hello everyone,

My fiance went to the Consultoria juridica in Habana and they told him that they don't legalize his criminal records and that it doesn't need to. Have any of you heard anything about this? @forena99 is your fiance at this stage?

Hi @058rocale,

I'll ask him tomorrow.  I don't remember if we got it already.  I think he already has it and got it from the Registros Civiles in Holguín.  He usually asks for the ´sello´ to make it official.  I don´t think they said anything about not being able to legalize his records.  I´ll let you know when I know more.

Thanks,

Hello everyone!

I wanted to let you all know that, at least in Habana, the 400$ for the medical exam is requested to be given as a check. My fiance is going tomorrow to a bank to get this done. We already have the medical exam scheduled for the end of April! (embassy interview is in May) :)

Thanks for all of the detailed info guys :)

I have a silly question, but I'm getting confused with all of the moving pieces in the later stages of this process. Once we receive the NOA2, should we fill out the DS 160 and prepare affidavit of support and other interview material? Are we only able to submit DS 160, pay visa fee, and schedule interview once the NVC receives our case from USCIS? Or do we have to wait even longer, until NVC receives our case and forwards it to the Havana embassy in order to complete these steps?

My petition was received Dec 21, and I received a hardcopy NOA1 Jan 2. Praying to receive an NOA2 soon! Just came from Cuba and I'm missing my partner so much!

Thanks so much in advance for the clarification. Good luck to everyone!

Hi TitiyPablo!

I am so happy you were able to visit your partner :) but I can imagine how much you miss him :(

Yes you are right. Once you receive your Noa2 you (or better yet, your fiance) submits the DS 160 (you can fill it up now). Then pay the visa fee, schedule interview. I did this the day after I got my Noa2. Don't wait for NVC to receive your case. you won't need the HAV number for the DS160 or to schedule the interview.

Good luck getting your NOA2 soon!!

I have completed mine already. I am just waiting to have my NOa2 notification to have him go online, review it and submit it. But I have everything done since I'm so anxious haha. Even the  Ds-160 payment page, since it has a profile for the interview. I'm on my 89th day :''( and I'm still waiting. I hope I hear something soon...

Ok, I'll use the only version of the DHL! Thank you!!

Hi @058rocale, question, did you complete the DS 160 and pay the visa fee before receiving your case # from NVC? Is the case # necessary for the DS 160? If not, once completed and paid for, does the DS 160 have a period of expiration? Just trying to figure out if we should start the DS 160 now, I got my NOA2 on April 13 and harcopy was received yesterday April 17. Thanks very much! x
