Hello All!

Here is another one for the masses: What effect, if any, does beneficiary debt have on the K-1 process (i.e. a few thousand dollars)??

Thanks.

A sponsors debt might be an issue, but the beneficiaries should not unless they are sponsoring themselves. However I would recommend paying it off or making arrangements to pay it off before leaving the country.

If the beneficiary has debt in her homeland, I figured it wouldn't follow her here to the US?...

I have some friends that got into alot of debt in the US and moved back to Japan to get rid of it. They don't plan on ever coming back to the US.

Where on an I-134 does it ask anything about "Debt"? It is only about income. If they wanted to know about Debt, then they'd be running credit checks which is not the case.
