Immigartion officers are better than I thought I got my LPR!

Hi guys ,

Well my interview went really well. Of course I had so much bad things goin on, that I thought I won't get my LPR for 3 more months. I recently moved and changed my address on immigration website. I was afraid that after interview they will send my green card to old adress. Well this change of address caused more problems. Two days before my interview date I got cancelation notice. I didn't pay much attention to it, and still went to Baltimore for my interview. Unfortunately BaLTIMORE TOLD ME that they already sent my file to Washington DC area, so I had to go there.

We were supposed to wait for the new interview date at home,but I couldn't. My husband had to be deployed upcoming week on a ship for a period of one year and because of that my interview would be postponed for 1 year.No interview without husband because it's marriage based. So we made online appointmet for next day at Fairfax immigration center and took all the documents with us. We talked by the window with information officer ( we realized it later as they kept telling us that they cant do anything for us, we have to wait about 3 months till I get my new interview date). Finally my husband got mad seeing me so sad that I won't get LPR until he came back from deployment, he asked the information officer to let us talk to someone who has power in doing these things. She asked us to sit down and wait till the consul comes to talk to us. Well we waited 3 hours. After 3 hours information officer told us that she got a signature to let us go to second floor and talk to immigration officer. Upstairs we waited another hour, immigration officer came out and she understood our situation,she said that my file just came today and asked to give her 1 hour till they try to find my file.They said if they'll find it we will have interview. Well they did, interview took us 10 min, we went inside together, although we saw other couples asked to come in seperately and each of them stayed 40min inside. I guess they didn't do this for us because we are already married almost 6 years. I got a stamp in my passport stating that I'm LPR , my green card should arrive within a couple of weeks.

I'm so relieved. LPR is very important to me,because I'm a student and now I qualified for financial assistance and I can prove my LPR.

This experience showed me that immigration officers are not untouchable, they are humans like others and in some cases they do consider your situation and help you out!

4/11/06: APPROVED!!!!!! NO MORE USCIS FOR 10 YEARS!!! WOOHOO!!! 2016...seems more like a page # than a year. Haha.
