Where/How to send AOS papers from Seattle, WA

Hello,

I live in Seattle, Washington and getting ready to file my AOS papers (I-864, G-325a, I-765, I-131 and I-485) after arriving on K1 visa and getting married.

I have a few questions:

1. It seems I have two options to mail my documents to Chicago:

a. to send it by USPS to the P.O. Box 805887, etc…

b. to use private courier companies to send it by overnight service (Purolator or UPS) to the 427 S LaSalle – 3rd floor, etc…

Does it matter which way I go/how I send it and what address I use?

2. Do I send all the forms together in one package or AOS one package, AP one package, EAD one package, etc…?

3. Do I write a separate check for each application if I send separately; or one check only for all if I send it all together?

Thanks for your help!

Yes.

Yes

No, it doesn't matter where you send, they will end up at the same place. But USPS is cheaper. That's what I used.

2. Do I send all the forms together in one package or AOS one package, AP one package, EAD one package, etc…?

I mailed everything in one envelope, and I believe most people did that. Just make sure you add a cover sheet detailing everything that you are mailing.

3. Do I write a separate check for each application if I send separately; or one check only for all if I send it all together?

Send it all at the sametime and you can do either way... a check for every form or just one check for everything.

Thanks for your help!

You're welcome and Good luck.

I would suggest using USPS - they have a next day guaranteed service. You get a special envelope at the post office. You also get a receipt which enables you to track the package online. You will receive confirmation when the package is signed by someone at the Chicago lockbox. For the docs you are sending I think it will cost around $15, which is worth it for the peace of mind. I used this service when USCIS requested further evidence regarding our affidavit. As FloridaGuy says, send it all in one envelope. I used different checks, however, for in the unlikely event that one application needs further evidence for instance, the other items will not be affected. Good luck!

I used USPS certified mail and when I got the green card back they had stamped receipt of the package two days after I had mailed it! Good luck

Hey Vox!! I too am in Seattle and just mailed our package out today. I followed the guides exactly, using the checklist for the AOS package. I wrote a check for each form and paperclipped it to the front, so it can't be missed. I also did the cover letter. I read that the cover letter was good as well as not needed, but decided to go with the steps outlined in the AOS guides. good luck. Maybe I'll see you at the interview! :P IF you get your package out soon.

Good question...maybe she's married but hasn't had her big fancy wedding?

We went to Catholic Charities for the paperwork (kind of pissed about that, but he was more comfortable that way ... I could have done it myself and done a better job), but we sent everything in one envelope with the money orders paperclipped to each form. No cover letter -- if the USCIS jobs at the service centers are anything like my job, they know exactly what they're looking for.
