That has always been my experience too.  I have been 6 times and never had a problem, but never with a one way ticket.  I may just buy a ticket to Singapore or Hong Kong, for less that $100 as insurance.

When are you going again Martin?

Probably in August to after my fiance's visa is approved to collect her and her son to bring them here to the states.

Good luck and if you have any other questions feel free to reach out.

I will probably go for the interview and hope to bring her and our son home with me.  Maybe I will see you there!

Approved!!!!! Exactly 90 days according to the app. USCIS App (Android) still says received.

NOA1 Mailed: Feb 3, 2017

NOA1 Received: Feb 8, 2017

NOA1 Email: Feb 13, 2017

NOA2 Notice Date: May 11, 2017

NOA2 Hard Copy Received: May 15, 2017 (today!!!!)

After seeing all the fretting about delays, I really wasn't even hopeful that it would come until early June. I can't believe it! Maybe there was really no delay that affected us Feb filers! I think the original VJ estimate was this week (it had recently shifted out to the last week of May).

My fiance is actually arriving tomorrow to visit me in the US - he will be staying until July 9, but in the meantime we will collect all the paperwork and get the medical and interview scheduled for shortly after he returns to his country. We're not worried because it will take 2-4 weeks for the NVC to receive the case, then another week or two for the case to get sent to the embassy. We can't schedule the interview/medical without the NVC number, right? So it should all work out without much extra delay, if any at all. Everything should be ready for our October 2 wedding!!! :)

Anybody know about the police records? Do we both need to get them separately, or just the beneficiary? If he lived in the US for more than 6 months total, but not 6 consecutive months, do we still need to get US police records for him? If I lived in multiple states as an adult, do I need to get them from multiple states? If there's nothing on our record, do we still need to get records? Thanks!

You guys, it will happen soon! Don't bother worrying about the app status updates - everything is fine and normal. Good luck!

Being a February 8 filer, I am excited to see at least 2 approvals with the same timeline that I have!!

Congrats!! Yes, you will need to wait for NVC to get your medical interview.  It is a little embassy specific from there - like in Peru we can't schedule medical until we have the interview scheduled (you have to the interview appointment confirmation to the medical).  For the police records those are only required for the beneficiary and it everywhere they have lived for 6+ months. US records are not needed as those are already checked during the visa process. Just any foreign country :)

Enjoy your fiance's visit, now you will have even more to celebrate and get to wedding planning!!

Omg seriously...only few understand the pure exhaustion of travelling somewhere as far as India! I think my last trip was total of 38 hours with layovers! When was the last time you saw your fiance? I last saw mine in the beginning of February, but won't see him again until his interview which won't be until probably September-ish since I'm a March filer. I'm planning on flying out there to spend hopefully 2-3 weeks there and attend the interview with him.

Hope you get your NOA2 soon!!! :)

I can't imagine 38 hours! My longest was 26 with layovers. I was there in mid-March and I probably won't be going back. The next time we see one another will be when he lands here with his K1 :( He owns a house that he is trying to sell so our funds are tight. We're still waiting for our NOA2 - seems like we're going to wait longer than first expected.

Good luck with your process! Safe travels this fall.
