So I'm hoping the same thing has happened and that a hardcopy NOA2 will be in my mailbox when I get home tomorrow night from visiting my fiancée in Canada. Checking status online just says "received" still.

It would make this trip that much more special.

Thank You for update :)   I guess this makes it all that more important to update timelines on VJ as quickly as possible since it seems that VJ is the only reliable electronic source of information. It has been very helpful to see the scans that some are doing but now we will all have to be equally diligent on our parts to keep the information up to date by adjusting our personal timelines.

Thanks for your update :) I'm still waiting. hopefully its soon

Hello everyone,

I have been following this thread for quite some time now and have found it very helpful on many occasions. I am a feb 23rd filer and waiting for my noa2.

We are hoping to get married in september. According to the plans my parents and brother will be travelling with me to US as we are planning for a small traditional ceremony after registering our marriage. My parents currently do not hold visitor's visa. As it will take good 2-3 months for tourist/visitor visa to process, we were wondering if it would be wise for them to apply for it while my k1 is still in process. I am looking forward to your valuable suggestions on the matter.

I would say go ahead and apply now. if they are approved, most likely they will be given a visa with 10 years validity (not all the time, some get 6 months / 1 year etc but that is rare). so even if they get their tourist visa tomorrow and say they are given just a 6 months one, that should still be valid by the time you all need to travel to the US. unless there was a particular reason why you are waiting to apply, like your NOA2? if so, not sure how that would help since in order to get a B1/B2 visa the consul will need to be convinced of the reason your family will go back home rather than why they are going to the US.

Hi everyone, may I know the friends here who already received the NOA2 letter, did you receive the email or text notification before received NOA2? I knew the system might be some problems, but not sure if this issue also would affect email and text notification. Thanks everyone!

I have been cautioned by some people that it may affect negatively on my visa. They may see it as an intention on the part of my family members to immigrate as the background check would reveal that I have already applied for k1. It is obvious for the parents to be present at the time of their child's marriage but somehow it can be construed as some twisted means for migrating to US. if we wait for my visa and then go ahead with theirs, we will have to delay my wedding. And I am not sure what difference will that make, since they can still deem my parents as potential immigrants as I will be moving anyway. It is a very convoluted topic and I do not understand how to go ahead with it.

you have a point. it's a catch-22, there is no right answer i suppose. but with that said, i am not totally convinced that them applying for their visa will have a negative effect on your K1 visa. because think of it this way, your K1 visa is a visa with immigrant intent at the outset. so really, they cannot deny your visa on suspicion of your immigrant intent can they? sooooo...that leaves you with your K1 affecting your family's chances of being granted B1/B2 visas. with this, my thought is that, with B1/B2 visas it's all a game of chance somehow and you just have to pick and route and run with that i guess. there is no foolpoof way of knowing which route is the best, all you can do is go for it and try. like you said, whether your family applies now (while you're waiting for your K1) or later (when you get your K1), either way your parents are now parents of a potential immigrant.
