Thank you..this whole thing sucks balls and we have a 20 yr gap...me being 40 him 20...I am soooo worried about that...from my research the older woman thing doesn't fly well cause of having kids issue ... that's why older men younger women is more accepted...plus....my stress is already elevated with having 6....yes 6 kids....3 are adults...when this started I had only 4 with me....1 more left then 2 came back and...its caused more stress for me and my fiance cause they r close to his age...plus I have 2 with adhd one of which has  autism and one with aspergers...this has been one of the most difficult things I've had to deal with especially because he doesnt know exactly if he wants to stay...because of the whole leaving his country and my kids....he doesnt know how he'll adapt...

Its an enormous weight on my shoulders and my life has basically stopped...it has left a very negative energy almost a feeling if angst inside of me...I am trying to learn to control it and keeping myself distracted taking classes online....but being an anxious over thinker...sometimes...that is impossible...and this IS my place to vent a bit and also show my empathy or give help when I can....

I understand you and it sounds like you have a lot going on in your life besides just moving through this process.  I'm sure it's also adding stress/negative thoughts for you with your fiance being unsure of moving forward.  It's a very difficult process to go through, first we all have ended up falling in love with someone who lives a great distance from us.  Then, we continue to be with that person, spend time together in person when we can, and our relationship and feelings for each other grow and grow.  Then, we decide to take the plunge and move onto marriage and in order to do that we have to go through this long process with a bunch of paperwork and steps of hurry up and then wait.  I know it was my choice, somewhat, to meet and fall in love with someone who is overseas but I also believe that fate brought us together and we were meant to be.  And that's where I end up getting a bit frustrated, 2 US Citizens can meet one day, get a marriage license the next day, and in some cases get married that same day or the very next day but since I fell in love with someone who is not a US Citizen we have to prove our relationship, prove that we love each other, and let someone else decide our future together.

I also understand the worry about the age difference.  That was one of my biggest worries with my fiance as well, I'm 38 and he's 23, and I thought for sure this would cause a hiccup for us during this process, but luckily it didn't.  I haven't shared much about us or our trials here for a number of reasons but it hasn't always been easy for us.  My fiance is from an Eastern European country where homosexuality is still negatively looked at by a majority of society and people don't come out due to fear of harassment/violence/blackmail/etc.  My fiance has only been able to come out to his mom and a few close friends who have kept his sexuality a secret.  He made the choice to move from his home country to the UK so we could meet in person and move our relationship forward.  And now he's sacrificing even more by coming here, where he has no family and no friends, and starting a life with me.  I often feel very guilty about this knowing that I am asking a lot from him to uproot his life just to be with me in a country he's never even been to before.  But then I come here, I see everyone else who is going through this process, I see their love for their partners, their support of complete strangers they've never met before going through the same process, and that helps to make the day a little bit better.

You don't need the NVC number to fill in DS-160. It specifically asks for your WAC number.

But that's right. You can fill the form whenever you want, but don't submit it until the case is Ready at the Embassy :)

 I never referred to a NVC number, I stated a case number from NVC totally different. The case number is NOT the "WAC" number as the WAC number is

for the Service Center that your petition is at for processing. Once it leaves USCIS and arrives at NVC they assign a Case Number which also starts with 3 letters followed by 10 numbers. The application receipt/petition number is 13 characters long and the first three characters are letters.  So if you were going to have your interview at US Embassy Manila (USEM) the number would be MNL##########.

The number you are referring to (WAC) is a receipt number and they start with three letters and follow by a series of numbers, for example EAC-06-123-45678.

Here is how to understand what the numbers mean.

The first three letters indicate the USCIS service center which is processing the petition, as follows:

– WAC – California Service Center;
– LIN – Nebraska Service Center; and
– SRC – Texas Service Center.

The case number, for your Embassy is what you need to finish the DS-160 and WAC is not that number. Without the case number you're dead in the water.

And when filling out the DS-160 it does not ask for the WAC# it's asking for and I quote from the application help ribbon next to the question.

Thank you for sharing too and I wish you the best too!  It's nice to see someone else have the same thoughts that I've been having.  I know exactly what you mean about a new love experience on a different level and it being scary and amazing, along with fear of losing it.  After my last relationship I wasn't sure that I wanted to try anymore to be with someone.  But then I met my fiance and it was just like WOW, this is what love is supposed to be like, this is what a relationship is supposed to be like, I really had no idea it could be the way it was until I met my fiance.  He has changed my life and my perspective on a number of issues and levels and made me see what true love, sacrifice, and commitment is really like.

When should I complete the DS-160? My case is in transit to the consulate. Should I wait for them to receive it first?

I just read up and I guess I should wait until it is ready at the embassy and send the file to my fiancé to upload since she is the beneficiary.

When you have your case number from NVC you can file the DS-160. Get the Embassy Letter (EL) for Turkey from this link: https://tr.usembassy.gov/wp-content/uploads/sites/91/2017/06/K1K2-Visa-Instructions-EN.pdf

Follow the instructions from their website here: https://tr.usembassy.gov/visas/immigrant-visas/fiancee-visa/the-interview/

The Embassy will send you additional information but use the EL as a check list when securing all the documentation that they require. Good luck.

@Greenbaum is a great source of information but can also come across as blunt sometimes, at least from my perspective.  I don't know if that is their intention, their personality, their writing style, or just my perspective, but I've read some comments where I've felt that way.  I also don't think it's a fair comparison between waiting for the LPR 10 GC and still waiting for your K1.  For those of us who are still going through the K1 process, we are still waiting to be with our fiance/es while, if you are going through AOS or ROC, you are more than likely with your spouse, living with your spouse, regularly seeing your spouse, and not having to deal with the stress of missing your partner.  Greenbaum said "So I waited a few months longer as not having it was not interfering with anything we were doing" which was great for them but is not the case for those who are going through K1 and waiting to be with their partner.  Being together makes a difference and trying to plan your life and being together while going through K1 does interfere with everything.

If you refer back to some of my post's I tell you straight up that I don't sugar coat things. Why should I when a bit of information could be important. When I give recommendations or answer questions I do it with links to where the information is available or is stated. I don't give feel good answers.

I suppose with any new love there is a tendency to go through the "star struck" period. I get that. Yes I see where you would say that ROC is not like a K1. I have experienced both and in some ways they could be skewed with your interruption, but I see it as another hoop you must jump through, placed by the government, and nothing you can do. The government does see your love or the fact that you are missing each other. You're just a file in their eyes, that they must process and while doing so, MUST keep the American public SAFE. That I can appreciate.

And that's why I said you are a great source of information, you do provide great resources with links in helping people and I appreciate that fact.  I also understand that you don't sugar coat anything and get straight to the point and that works with some people and not with others.  Some of us aren't here just for information or resources but for the sense of community and support that happens in offering emotional support/understanding as we make our way through the hoops we go through with this process.  I agree with you that information is important but I also feel like empathy is important as well.  Some people need that outlet of emotional support, some don't, and with everything in life when people have different needs/viewpoints/expectations/perceptions some friction can arise.

I also agree with you that, for the most part, there isn't anything we can do besides wait once we submit the paperwork no matter which step in the process any of us are in.  I see from your timeline that you've been through the whole process, from K1 to AOS to ROC, and you've made it through all of the hoops.  I certainly look forward to the day when we're at the point you are.  My point/perspective, though, is that it's likely a lot easier to make it through the hoops of AOS and ROC because you are already with your partner then it is when you're going through K1 and still waiting to have your partner here.

In terms of keeping the American public safe, I do appreciate that this is part of the government's responsibility and part of this process is security checks to make sure we are kept safe and avoid terrorism.  I'll leave my comment on that aspect there as I don't want to diverge too far into political discourse on keeping America safe.

Your application receipt/petition number was given to you by the Department of Homeland Security’s United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) after you filed your petition application at a USCIS Service Center. The application receipt/petition number is 13 characters long and the first three characters are letters.

Exactly, you need the WAC number, which is the number provided by USCIS (the MNL, LND, MDD, etc number is provided by NVC) after you filed the petition application (not the MNL... number that you get after your application was approved).

Actually, it couldn't be clearer to me: APPLICATION RECEIPT.

Anyway, I've seen people using any of those numbers, and no one reported an issue with the form at the Embassy :)

Wow.... I'm sending all the love I can and I will prayer that u find peace in everything. I hope in the end all your trials are turned into greatness and you continue to overcome it all until there is only happiness and peace. I'm sure the 'little' u have said here will help build someone up and remind them that there is never really a reason to be sad cuz there are others facing way more and I hope we can also build u up and continue to be a shoulder for you to lean on through everything... blessings my friend!

Thank you for this.....I am the usual suffer in silence person...but I have learned, its easier to refuel and feel less alone in a community...but you have to share and equally help....this has def drained my energy but the ones on here who truly listen and try to sympathize/empathize go a long way to helping me refuel some of that lost energy that I need to keep my hope alive and keep trucking on. Thanks again for your kind words and I am so happy that you guys are finally together.

Well I just got a notice on my noa1 and got a RFE.  Does it take long for the after I resend the RFE

Unfortunately there doesn't seem to be a consistent time to processing RFE responses right now.  Sometimes it's 2-3 weeks, sometimes it's 2 months, it's just hard to say based on what we've see happen to others in this thread.
