Oh my goodness! That's right around the corner! How exciting! No one can blame you for being nervous - anyone in their right mind will be a little nervous :)

We hope he will arrive sometime in mid-October. We've set a date for the wedding while giving everyone notice that, until the visa is in his hand, there's still a chance we'll need to move it. If all goes well, the wedding will be October 28th! My priest is very understanding so he knows to be flexible but the church is reserved for that day. Just think, we'll both be married by Thanksgiving!

Hi all,

Which NVC number do we need to call?. (603) 334-0700. or (603) 334-0888 ?.

My fiance called to -0700 twice to get case number since last week but NVC said they haven't received yet. I am a little bit worry because i've seen few people who has the same Noa2 on July 31 or Noa2 after us, already got their case number after two weeks. Tomorrow will be 3 weeks for us.

Thank you in advance.

Exactly!!

He has to give a one-month notice at work. We are going to take a slight risk - he will give notice as soon as the interview is over and he is told he's approved. I hear that getting the visas in India usually go pretty quickly after the approval, around a week. Then he needs to go to his home-state (Kerala) to sign some papers for a house he owns and is trying to sell. So after the interview, it will be about 5 weeks or so before he's here.

When do you leave for the states?

I just want to point out something and that is the visa is not approved until your file goes to "issue".  After the interview there is some more "housekeeping" that the Embassy needs to do to complete your visa.  I have seen some who have gone to "issued" on the same day and others 2-3 weeks but most concerning is those who went as long as 6 months after the interview to finally get their visa issued.  Many have had to change their flight arrangements and had to pay a very stiff penalty. Embassy's do post a warning similar to this:

Do not finalize arrangements for travel to the United States, dispose of property, or resign from your job until a visa has been issued and delivered to you. Generally, a single-entry fiancé(e) (K1) nonimmigrant visa is valid for six months from the date of issuance, unless its validity is limited by medical or other restrictions.

Check within your subforum for India and ask some of the experts there what you might expect. Just my observation and opinion.

First, don't begin calling for 10 business days after you get your text message (NOA2). Second, you will need the Petitioner's and Beneficiaries full name and date of birth.

Call 603-334-0700 or 603-334-0888 Be prepared for a wait. Best time to call is when the phone lines open up 7 am EST. When you call then most will pickup on the first ring. Tell the operator that you are requesting a case number for your K-1. They will ask for the receipt number located on the left top of your I-797 (NOA2) form. Then he/she will either tell you that they have not received your case or you will be asked for the names and date of birth. If they don't have the case, you will be told it can take 30 to 45 days for them to receive it and to wait however many days/weeks and call back. That's a pad answer so ignore it. You can call back the next day or as often as you want. NVC's hours are 7am to 12 am (midnight) eastern time. Monday through Friday except Federal Holidays. Calling early at 7 am on the dot will get you in the fastest or calling late the lines to be open most often.

When you have your case number, enter it here https://ceac.state.g...ker/status.aspx and it will tell you one of three things... At NVC, In Transit, or Ready.

Question on CEAC for those who checked it in between the medical and interview.  Our case has had Case Last Updated as 25-July-2017 for awhile now, I believe that this update was when they mailed Packet 3 to my fiance.  Since his medical on Wednesday the 16th I've been checking the status to see if it would change the Case Last Updated date in between his medical and interview.  Today it finally updated to Case Last Updated 21-Aug-2017.  I'm hoping that this means his medical results have reached the embassy and that everything is set for the interview on Thursday.  Did anyone else notice an update like this between the medical and interview?  I'm hoping this is the case and it wasn't just updated today in printing/preparation for the interview on Thursday.  I searched the forums and it seems like this update is likely to be receipt of the medical results but wanted to check with my group of Feb filers to see if anyone else had any experience like this :)

Can the beneficiary contact NVC?

I think either person can contact NVC as long as you have all of the information they are going to ask for, case number, names, and date of births.  They didn't even bother to ask my name when I called, I let them know I was calling to check on the status of an I129f, they asked for the case number, and the day that they had finally received the case it changed from the canned response ("it can take 30 to 45 days") to please confirm the names and date of births associated with this case.

She would need to call 603-334-0700 or 603-334-0888 but that is going to charge her international calling rates from the Philippines if she doesn't have a plan that allows her to call the US for free.  If you have calling credit/money on something like Skype, she should be able to use that to call as well.
