A little (a lot) late to the game here. As we hired an attorney to help us with the visa process and they have completely dropped the ball. I've learned more reading all 355 page of this thread than I have from my attorney. We filed in February and have now taken over the process.

My fiancé is in the UK.

Interview scheduled for September 7th.

My first question is should we pay for the courier service at the interview? If so, what does that mean? i.e., it's hand delivered to him

How long does that process take?

(thank you all for sharing your journeys)

Pay for the courier if you want the visa etc delivered. You can see my signature link for my U.K. processing times but I'm sure it varies.

It's normal procedure, I don't believe u have anything to worry about- yes some people go through AP for longer than others, unfortunately I seem to be one of them. (See signature)

i had had the same experience as ur fiancé and received a white paper stating I was approved etc. but I am still on AP, tmr will be 17 days :( and there is nothing u can do but wait..

Normal it seems. I was in AP as well. How long differs based on consulate, etc.

We received an rfe Aug 15 according to the website but I'm currently traveling abroad. Is the a way to read what they requested without the physical piece of mail? I'm excited and nervous I have no idea what they would ask for!

Sadly enough, no, there's no way to know until you get the hardcopy in the mail.

If you are not going to be back by next week, maybe someone can check for you?

Sorry that's how it works, hope at least it's an easy fix. Good luck!

Another question, does my fiancè have to be home to accept the delivery? Meaning does he have to sign for it?

Here is information about the courier options:

https://ais.usvisa-info.com/en-gb/iv/information/courier

The short answer is that, on the first attempt, according to my understanding of what is written there if it's going to a home address, any adult can sign for it when it's delivered to a home address.  If no one is home, then on redelivery either your fiance would have to sign for it and show identification or a letter would need to be written authorizing someone else to sign for it, along with a copy of your fiance's identification, and the person signing would have to show identification.  It's a bit odd that's not required on the first attempt but that seems to be what they say.

It's ridiculous to me that there are so many from February that are still waiting.  I can't believe they've had your RFE response for almost a month now, and that response was to just check a box or two if I remember correctly, and they still haven't processed that.  I feel so bad for you and everyone else that is still waiting on them to get their act together.

I know, i honestly cant believe im still waiting. Yeah it was just a couple of boxes we didn't check, we are actually due to call them again today as it's been 4 weeks now (and were told to by a supervisor). Lets cross our fingers that we finally get some good news.

Fingers crossed for sure.  I feel like everyone who is still waiting must have ended up in the same pile on someone's desk who doesn't know how to do their job or doesn't care how long people have to wait.
