Really? Then, we will look into doing that too. Will DC allow it even if we are residents of VA? Thanks a lot for this.

Yeah, I am VA resident too.  As long as you both are 18 and able to legally marry (which we will all have been pre-vetted for that through this process lol)  http://dccourts.gov/internet/public/aud_marriage/marriage.jsf

Random question, my fiance and I have a joint sponsor (his sister) who also filled out an affidavit of support. When we receive our NOA2 and go to the interview, should we bring from her the bank statements, employer letter, tax returns & w-2? Or is this something that only has to be mine?

Thanks!

Hiya. Im sure you bring that with you. If you're the benificary then it's the petitioner and the co sponsor of the petitioners info you need. So moving to the USA it's the American citizens information. You don't need to show your bank details. 😊

Aww, Same timeline then!! Please keep in touch! :)

I, too, am prepared for June as well. But the thing is we have planned to have our wedding on September. :/

We just booked our wedding for October 2! Received date Feb 8. It's going to be a bigger wedding and we are having lots of friends and family fly in, so it's kind of risky but hopefully we have enough buffer time. Best wishes!

Hi,

The affidavit of support does not need to be notarized. I think you need the previous year tax return, so I would add 2016 tax return as well. I'm not sure what else you would need except for original copies of birth certificate, previous marriage/divorce certificates, police records. My fiance' is from Ecuador. I was able to find the list that the Embassy requires for the interview. You may want to search the embassy requirements for your country.

I'm in the process of gathering everything myself. Good luck!!

Thank you! Yeah, I've gathered the required documents list for my country. Just worried about getting vaccinations. I hate shots. :(

Good luck to you too!

I see some people include recent paystubs as well.  He will also need to include an updated letter of intent that he plans to marry you and proof of domicile (proof he lives in the states- I've seen people mention a copy of drivers licence with address and pay stubs/ bills with an address).

Thanks! That's a good idea. I will have a letter with his driver license. :)

I know we all are awaiting eagerly for this waiting to be over and it's absolute madness. But to ease the pain and anxiety, what I do is I get busy with wedding planning and spending time doing the hobbies I love. If you get busy with wedding planning, you'll have less time to stress over the waiting plus you have something fun to do while waiting!

Sending hugs to everyone!

From what i understand, you will still need to prove your income meets requirements for both of you for the AOS; you need to be 125% above poverty, instead of 100% like the K1. I'm not 100% sure about the K1 itself but I assumed its for both fiance and self. The income requirement is much lower than i thought it would be. Seems to me that most people working full-time will be fine.
