You need to wait around to pick it up... it clearly says due to strikes across the country the best thing to do is pick up the visa at the closest pick up spot which is very close to the consulate. This information is on the web page where you first sign up to register an account to schedule the interview. Did you have to wait to receive instructions to schedule your interview? How long did it take for your case to arrive at the consulate? Mine is on the way to Rio as of yesterday but said is was electronically sent.

Thanks! Yea it looks like we are gonna stay around in rio to pick up passport and fly to US from there , flights back to her hometown is too much so we rather stay in a hotel in rio and pick it up there.

I did waited for the email with the instructions, I received email from NVC with RDJ on Jul 6 , then on Jul 10 i received the email saying it arrived in Rio.

NVC received it on the 28 of june, i kept calling asking for case number but they always said it still wasn't received, a week later i received email with it .

if yours left yesterday it could probably be there in 2-3 days , just keep waiting for the email with instructions, start filling out and saving your ds-160 and when it comes you can submit, pay the fees and schedule interview .

I'm very sorry to hear this and I'm sure you're frustrated.  After waiting all of this time to be given a RFE is just ridiculous.

Oh my goodness! Our NOA2 was 6/10 and the NVC still hasn't received it!! Every time I call, I think, today has to be the day. But nnnoooooo.....:bonk:

I guess I have to wait until 6 weeks passes before I can complain, since that's the time frame they keep quoting. Then who do I call? USCIS?

There's a NVC email address for these issues, I don't remember what it is but it's something like NVCResearch@ something.  My plan was to get my congressman or Senator involved once it reached the 6 week mark because I read on other topics that if you use that email address it can be a few days to a few weeks to get an answer but if your congressman or Senator is responsive, you can have an answer of what's going on in 2-3 days.  I really hope you don't hit the 6 week mark and they receive it sometime this week.

Do you have to call the NVC to get case number or can I email them? Our NOA2 is dated 28th June. That's two weeks ago today. I don't know if it's too soon to enquire about it.

Start calling now and don't feel guilty about calling every day.  I did at first but I got over that after the 3rd or 4th time.  I never spoke to the same person and almost everyone that I spoke with at the NVC was quick, efficient, polite, and willing to help.

I've spoken to 3 people: Angus, Belle, and some other guy but I can't remember his name. Belle isn't very nice and seems annoyed every time. She also asks me for my receipt date and tells me that it takes 6 weeks. Oh... ok. Whatever, Belle. Angus is the nicest guy. I like it when he answers, even if the answer is "we haven't received it."

@TriloByte - Do they ask about the DS160 when you call to schedule the medical?  We are going to wait to fill out the DS160 until it says Ready like I've seen advised but I was going to have my fiance call tomorrow and schedule his medical for August 7th if they still have availability for that date.  The reason for this is because my fiance is leaving for Romania next Friday in order to get all of his documents to then come back and have his medical and interview.  We'll probably be completing his DS160 while he's there but he won't have the ability to call the UK while away.  So I thought we would go ahead and call and get the medical scheduled before he leaves so the dates he's off of work don't get filled up.  I know the instructions say to do the DS160 and then schedule the medical but is there any harm in reversing these steps?

I'm pretty sure that I've had Belle as well, she is pretty nasty.  Otherwise, it's been a different person every time I've called, even when I've called at the same time every day.  I've got my fingers crossed for you for this week still.

They asked for the LND number. I would def wait until the ready status for the DS160, but the DS160 needs to come before the medical according to the embassy site. I wasn't risking any delays by going out of order.

Thanks and I totally understand.  I've got our LND number so we'll give it a shot tomorrow.  We'll definitely have the DS160 completed before the medical appointment, as long as our case doesn't sit at the NVC for the next 23 days  :D

Thanks for the encouragement and well wishes. It gives me hope to see so many people here moving forward. Makes me wish we could have a reunion somewhere. Seems like there are a lot of Texas peeps... maybe a Hill Country stay is in order ;)

I think the average is about a week for the transfer to the consulate.

Hello,

Thanks for this info! What is the LND number?

I'm really really really hoping it's something simple and a quick fix & that we don't have to wait a month for our approval either, I really want to make it for Christmas. All I can do now is wait and hope the best

You'll be there before Christmas.  Heck! You can finish this in 2 months!  You'll be there prolly for Thanksgiving! You'll be ok, I'm sure. :)
