For what I've seen for my Embassy they ask for both. Also I've read you can substitute them for the tax transcripts and then it's only that.

To anyone who is waiting the NVC #, I would like to share this with you:

If you're an electronic case, make sure you're calling the immigrant line 603-334-0700, then press 5. If not, the agent you speak with will not able to see your file and keep telling you they haven't receive your case yet.

Below link is referring to the CR1 filers, but confirmed with NVC that they are already started with K1 Visa a month ago.

https://travel.state.gov/content/visas/en/immigrate/immigrant-process/approved/contact/CEAC_electronic_processing.html.html).

Wow, what at tip! Really curious how you figured this out. After calling every day and getting no answer, the agent was able to confirm that the NVC has my case.

Here's everything the agent told me:
* They marked my case "as a priority for processing" (I think those were his words) on June 16th (NOA2 on June 2nd).

* It takes two weeks for a case number to get assigned (I think that means two weeks from June 16th for me).

* It is indeed getting entered into the new electronic system.

Initially the agent thought I was calling to ask about an I-130; I assumed he'd tell me to hang up when I said I was calling to get the status of my I-129f, but instead he said "oh, a K1 visa? One moment..." and began looking it up.

Does anyone know if this means our case will get electronically transferred to the embassy?

Happy to get some kind of confirmation that our case is still being processed.

So just got in contact with NVC, they couldn't give me any details to the case or give me my case number due to the fact my fiancee's DOB on file at NVC was wrong -___- so I just emailed them with the proper documents to correct that error. And around and around we go lol will this visa process ever end? Stay tuned to K1 Visa problems lmao smh I guess on the bright side at least I know they have our case....

The W2 is what your employer sends at the end of the year that states all your earnings for that year for that job and the 1040 is the individual tax return that shows all earnings for the year. It should not matter which form they see unless you have other income from other sources then I would show the 1040 tax return.

I was calling and calling and NVC kept telling me they haven't receive my case. Until one day, a lady told me to call a different number and press 5. I was shocked when she told me and I didn't believe her for a minute. But after 34 days without knowing where is my case, worrying that can be lost in transit, I have to call the different number she asked me to. Finally, the agent that I spoke with after pressing 5 actually saw my file that was already received 2.5 weeks ago and even gave me a direct line to call for a case #. I am not sure what is the title of this "direct line", but he knows what he is talking about.

if your case is getting entered into the new electronic system, yes, your case will get electronically transfer to the embassy.

668 is the day your case was created on. So it was created on June 17th. I just found out from outside source. Could be wrong though. But in my case, it is actually accurate!

:P:P Is exactly correct. At the moment, I didn't feel like explaining the details. Thanks for the help!

I want to offer a suggested correction on this comment.

" It should not matter which form they see unless you have other income from other sources then I would show the 1040 tax return. "

The 1040 shows many things the W2 doesn't. Example, number of dependents. Also money in certain retirement accounts, business income or loss. Interest from savings. Tax credits!

i would not arrive with only a W2. Use your 1040 AND any supporting tax forms associated t

with it.

I wonder if all electronic cases might be "a priority for processing" as my petition was entered electronically as well (we waited 31 says to find it was received and then got another number that night).  It was exactly 2 weeks from them saying the case was received to getting assigned a number.  It has now been in transit to the embassy since Tuesday morning, I assume  it is just waiting in Montreal's system waiting To be processed farther.

We got an email from the NVC yesterday with our case number, as well as an email saying we were approved for an expedite (we didn't request one).  So I'm wondering if the "priority processing" has to do with the expedite email..... Which we are at the point nothing can really be expedited as once it says "ready" I can email packet 3 and soon after that make the interview appointment.
