Now that we have our NOA2 approval, we are trying to get all this paperwork needed for the interview gathered. We have pretty much everything except the police certificates.

My fiance lived in the US on a student visa for a few years (which is when we met) before he graduated and and had to return to India.

Does anyone know if he needs a police certificate from the US? We know he needs one from India, but we've read several sites and some say no US police certificate is needed but others say it is.

NOA1-February 14

NOA2-June 14

Good luck to everyone still waiting, and hope it goes quick!  Congrats to everyone who has been approved so far!

Nope, no police certificate required from the US as they are able to run background checks that would uncover anything on your record from the USA.

His name was not on the NOA2.  When you check the status on the ceac website it will show the mnl# at the bottom followed by 01 for the k1 and 02or the derivatives.  I assume 03 for second child. 04 for third etc.

i have a question because i have a K2 on my application but i do not see what you talking about  " it will show the mnl# at the bottom followed by 01 for the k1 and 02 ".. when i search the Ceac casu status and i put in my NVC number all i get is a window and it says " AT NVC".. nothing on there speaks about my K2.. am i searching the wrong website?

We're applying at the consulate in Bogotá, Colombia and here is what the instructions are for us in Packet 3/4.

POLICE CERTIFICATES: All applicants who are 18 years or older must obtain a Colombian police certificate “Certificado de Antecedentes Judiciales” at http://www.policia.gov.co. Applicants who have lived in another country for more than 6 months since turning 16 years of age (except for the United States) must present police certificates from those countries too. Visit http://travel.state.gov/content/visas/en/fees/reciprocity-by-country.html for information about the availability and process for obtaining police certificates for other countries. Police certificates are valid for 12 months.

Hope this helps!

Congrats! My fiance just got an email today with NOA2 and our case has been approved!! NOA1 was feb 28th.

So happy!! Wasn't expecting this at all, I have been updating our case status non stop all last week and no change, he called USCIS on monday and they said they were processing dec 15th and I almost broke down.. So I signed up here thankfully and calmed down fast seeing Feb appliers are already getting approved.. but I expected to wait a few weeks more at least!

And the timing is perfect, I'm flying to the US tomorrow for the first time in 5 months to see my future husband and we're celebrating our first anniversary tomorrow night  Now we can celebrate this too!

I too have  a NOA1 of Feb 28, 2017.   I am so anxious to get a NOA2.  My fiance keeps wondering when the embassy will call her etc.   I have to keep saying it could be 1 month or 6 weeks or 8 weeks.  I'll admit, all the waiting depresses me and stresses me out.  I am checking my email at least 3 times a day now as from this site I can see people with the same NOA1 as me are getting approved.   I pray I get approved and no day now is too soon.  I hope my NOA2 is as timely as yours.

Everyone has their own experience with the NVC.  Our's was very positive.

UUSCIS notification of approval and forwarding to NVC. One week did receive a response from NVC.  I email NVC to their published email enquiry email.  one week later received email with letter in body of email.  Assigned Embassy with case number.  Went online,  booked interview, revisited embassy website showing many more interview times available and booked interview in 8 days.

Approx 3 weeks after NVC received 129 approval we were sitting at embassy for intervew.  15 minutes and finished.

No letter in mail todate...almost 5 weeks.

Good luck...read information given by NVC online, give them the your required and they are very cooperative.

Did you call the nvc for your case# and ask if the k2 is included on the petition or you wait until you receive their notice?
