Wow that's awesome that you took that step to do that... I'm just a ol' Mississippi boy that knows redneck English haha!! I'll use southern slang words like "I reckon so" and she has no clue what I'm saying lol... I also pronounce my days of the week different and I've tried to teach her the southern way to do it... Mundey, Tuesdey, Wensdey, Thursdey, Frydey, Saturdey, Sundey 😂 She thinks it's hilarious... so maybe I'll have some success turning her into a true southern belle but I have my doubts lol!! As for learning Portuguese I'm excited to do so... I want to be able to communicate with her folks... thank God for google translate

Haha....I'm in Arkansas  (with an Algerian fiance). There are some things that just do not translate well.....like "have you lost your mind"....."that dog don't hunt".....and, my personal favorite, "everything is goin to he** in a handbasket"

I am doing the informed delivery like many others here and the mail has been extra cruel to me. Must be some bad karma or something coming back to bite me. For whatever reason, for the past week, I got no mail at all. So each morning I woke up hoping to see that USCIS letter in my e-mail inbox, only to see "There are no reported deliveries for this day.". Then, this morning, there was one single letter, and from a distance looked exactly like the NOA1 envelope. I got excited, zoomed in and saw that it was just a bill.  Yup.

Anyone else learning a new language? I am now 30% fluent in French.....talk about teaching an old dog new tricks....the learning a new language makes my head hurt

Learning Malayalam or Hindi is near impossible for me! I can hardly even make the correct sounds! When I try, we both end up laughing because I sound so ridiculous. Somehow all the sounds end up coming out like a mush of Spanish-Engish-Hindi/Malayalam-mush  Thankfully my fiance has two English degrees and taught high school English for many years. In his job he speaks only English and works in content development for an educational software company in the English department. He speaks better English than most Americans! haha We have no issue communicating (except when we don't understand a word because of the British vs. American English). His mom doesn't speak any English and she wants to be able to speak with me so badly :( She's as cute as can be and sweet - and thankfully, loves me and is glad I'm with him. Me learning Malayalam just isn't going to happen...

I hear ya... after I signed up for the informed delivery, I noticed my mail slowed down. What the hell?? When I saw an official looking envelope and my heart skipped a beat... It was my tax return. Exciting, but nowhere near as thrilling as USCIS approval.

Here's a funny one for you. Here in Texas where I live, there is a state park by the lake called "Arkansas Bend State Park". My fiancee and I are both big into hiking and the outdoors, so we drove over there for the day. On the way over I got a bit turned around and she was reading the signs to me and kept saying "Our Kansas" over and over. I finally just asked, "Why Kansas and why is it ours?". haha. Then I realized what she was doing, told her and we laughed our a$$ off at it. :). Turns out it's the way the French pronounced it back in the day when the name was ironed out. :)

hahahahaha :jest:

I grew up in southeast Texas and went to college at Texas State! I totally understand! My Texas accent is gone now, but sometimes I have a slip, especially when I'm tired. But the classics are the phrases. My coworkers just don't get it when I ask if the mail has passed! He has sssssooooo much Texan to learn ;)

I am right there with you...my fiance is fluent in French, German, Arabic and Berber (and can hold his own in English). His parents were professors in French....it is so completely intimidating....all I can muster is "Bonjour"....

I can say water and mom lol

To make things more complicated, Hindi and Malayalam don't even use the same alphabets! And neither of them are Latin-based alphabets! It's just a bunch of squiggly lines to me. Although I can tell the difference between the two languages, both in writing and in speaking.

Hello everyone. I been reading this thread for a couple of weeks now. I was feeling very discouraged because i was seeing approvals for people with noa1 received after mine so i decided to call uscis on may 19 and asked to speak to tier2 so i did and the guy told me that my case was still on received. So i called again on may 24 and spoke to tier2 again and this time i waited 2 1/2 hours for them to call me and i told him that people with february received dates had already gotten their approval in the mail and that the case checker on uscis website apparently wasnt working. Mind you, the first person who attended me said they was working with december 15 and i told her that this is how i know that the information she gave me wasnt true so thats when i asked to speak to tier2. This guy was kinda rude but once he checked my case status he told me congratulation on your approval now you can tell your friend. Lol. He told me that they were sending me the letter and i reived it on may 26. I advise u to call and speak to tier 2 because my case still say received on the case checker on uscis even though i already have my noa2.

I-129f sent: february 3rd

I-129f noa1: february 8

I-129f noa2: may 23

Oh and by the way my fiance is in the dominican republic. I know its hard but dont get discouraged because you might be approved already and dont even know it. Good luck to all of you guys and hope you get your approvals soon.

LOL!! Well to top that we just had a storm roll through with straight line winds... knocked down a huge tree in our neighbors back yard onto our fence and right beside our pool destroying our beautiful crate Murtle 😆😆... my girlfriend is Already saying she wants a house with a basement for bad storms... no one here has a basement... I've sent her many photos of lightening and very loud claps of thunder and she's never seens or heard anything like it. Gotta love the south... I'm in north west Mississippi and live 5 minutes from Memphis and about 20 minutes from Arkansas... what part of AR do you live?

More evidence to confirm that tier 2 has access to the case itself, outside of the online checker. When I called tier 2, 2 or 3 weeks ago the women seemed to take great pleasure in telling me my case was still in received and even if I get approved, I have another 20 days wait time to find out. I decided on that day that I didn't want to know anymore. I will just wait until the letter comes because a month ago, I thought I was likely approved then, and kept waiting, and nothing.

Congrats on your approval!!!!!

My thought exactly. I-129f question 34a, 35, and 35a ask specifically to annotate the circumstances if you met via an international marriage broker.  If one answers no, and you indicate an online dating site, especially one they have seen countless times; then why ask for the T&Cs?  If USCIS is not sure, then why not they investigate? They do personal background checks. Lastly, there is no guidance I found regarding the I-129f form where it directs you to provide Dating site T&Cs. (I may be wrong, since we did not meet via IMB, so admittedly I did not look that hard) One would only know to provide if they got an RFE

i know right?! esp the personal background checks...if they can do that, surely they can find out which ones are IMBRA and which ones are not! It's too ridiculous to even comprehend.
