That can vary. Could be soon, might not be until after this tax season is done.

Did he not supply the 2016 W2? If all 3 years were with same company, w2's generally sufficie for Manila.

How did he file his taxes? They generally, with online services, give you the paperwork showing you filed as soon as you're done... bypasses the IRS.

Try this link too, should be able to access them and download them online : https://www.irs.gov/individuals/get-transcript

Military is not "tax free" unless deployed. 6 years active army here and when in the states you still pay federal taxes and or any state taxes if applicable to where you have your home of record.

The process really for military and taxes is pretty simple and basically the same for anyone. What the delay is with the availability to get the transcripts I'm not sure; but perhaps have him try the link above, it probably would be quicker than trying to talk to someone on the phone or deal with anyone on the base.... they are usually pretty slow...

When was your husbands interview? Mine was on Febuary 2, 2017. My mom requested for the transcript as soon as she got the news that we need a document. Is your husband from the Philippines?

When the poster said free tax I think they meant that military do not pay to file taxes not they don't pay taxes because they do except when deployed.

A deployment year can really mess up a tax return too.  My hubs was deployed in 2011 so his tax return that year was like 14k vs the 30k for 2010 and 2012.

Also the IRS can take 6-8 weeks for a tax return, or longer if it's late, like the OPs is.  So basically, patience.  There's nothing you can do to speed up a late filed return. It can take a month or more after the return is processed to get the transcript as well.  Asking us on the forum what is taking so long doesnt help as we cant control it, your circumstances are different than normal, and nothing but patience will get you to your goal.
