My Scottish fiance sent off his form last Wednesday to get an interview date from the American Consulate in London. We have to fly all the way down to London from Scotland for the interview. We've already scheduled his medical appointment in London for April 21st, so we attached a cover letter to our form requesting that the interview be on the same day as the medical exam to save us from having to take 2 trips. Does anyone know if that will increase our chances of having the two things on the same day? Or are they just really bogged down so you're lucky to get an interview at all?

Also, we've already bought one-way tickets to fly back to the US permanently for June 1st, because the form asked when we'd be entering the US. Would they at least take note of that and get us an interview date for well before then so we don't lose money on plane tickets?

Thanks!!! I'd love to hear about anyone else's experiences because I sometimes feel like we're the only ones doing this.

ooops if you look at the London timelines the waiting time from when packet 3 is received to interview date is 8-12 weeks. It's difficult to schedule the medical and the interview on the same day as the medical results take a few days to come through and go to the embassy.

good Luck

OK, we'll probably have to reschedule the medical then. My main worry is being able to leave by June 1st and no later.

This whole thing is so stressful. :(

When I was ready for my London interview last year I found that the people that did put dates down did get priority over the people that left that form blank. June 1st is quite a way off so I would be very hopeful that you would get your interview beforehand and I would be surprised if it didnt come by then. Wish you all the best.

The State Department recommends on their website that you do not purchase a plane ticket until after you have the visa in hand. The Embassy is not going to let you cut in line in front of other people just because you spent money on a ticket. That certainly would not be fair to all of the people in line ahead of you.
