Okay, my son and I had our AOS biometrics done on the 2nd of April and we had the usual touches that occur afterwards. However, I have gone onto the USCIS case status checker today and it says this for my son:

Interview descheduled by USCIS.

The interview scheduled in this case has been canceled. You will be notified by mail if the appointment is rescheduled, when a decision is made, or if the office needs something from you.

First of all I haven't even read of him being given an interview appointment before, nor have we received any letters stating this. So...why is this on here now? My own case is still "received and pending". Both cases are at the National Benefits Center (MSC) still.

Any ideas anyone?

I would get an infopass... it's probably just a mistake, BUT there are several cases (even in this very message board) of people who had their interviews cancelled and then received a AOS DENIED letter. Since your son's interview will take place at the sametime as yours, it's probably just a mistake from their part, but I wouldn't wait to see. Are you far from your local office ?

We are about an hour away from Indy, where the area office would be.

Incidentally, it says at the bottom of the update :

If you have a question about case status information provided via this site, or if you have not received a decision from USCIS within the current processing time listed, please contact Customer Service at (800) 375 – 5283 or 1-800-767-1833 (TTY).

Has anyone phoned them and got any helpful info before?

No, the Customer Service is often referred to as the USCIS (un)Help(ful)line. I get that it's inconvenient to go for an Infopass appointment, but I concur with the earlier advice. You're far more likely to get a straight answer if you go.

Conditions Removed! Ten-year green card received 6/24/2009. No more USCIS for a very long time.

EAXCTLY .. the " miss-information " line .. they are not helpful @ all. If it was me i would make an infopass appointment ... it's too important to take chances. Considering there are some VJ'ers that have been denied for not going to cancelled interviews ..

Okay, another quick question...if anyone can help it would be appreciated! As the information I need is regarding my son's case and not mine do I need to take him along with me (he is 13 and in school)? Secondly, I've made an appointment in my name as I am his legal guardian. Will they still be able to speak to me about it, because if not, it's a bit of a drive to go to then be told they can't tell me a damn thing...

I think that would depend how old your son is .. ? If he is a child and you filed the papers on his behalf i would think you could go without him .. that is probably an answer you CAN get from calling the 1 800 # ..

She edited her message and added her son's age. She didnt say how old he was before...

I don't see why they would need a 13 year old with you... his petition is based on yours, so I think you will be fine by going alone.

Anyhoo, I've made an Infopass appointment for tomorrow and done it in my name. I'll take all my docs and my son's with me and ask them about what the hell is going on with his case.

Probably a mistake but, as has been said, best to be sure. I can't see why they would make an appointment interview for him and not me, considering he is a minor and I'd have to be with him at the time. Dearie me.

my bad!

I didnt see the edit :D

But I do agree, they shouldn't need him with you cause he is a minor.

Weird interview scheduling though
