Travel ban for Philippines?

 Share

I am at work right now and my wife sent me a message that they are talking about a travel ban for the Philippines to the US on the news. I haven't had much time to read about it but a quick Google search brought up some articles about a ban for the southern Philippines.  My wife and step son have their visas and I was going to fly them here in about a month. I have enough money for plane tickets now. Should I get them here asap to avoid any issues or is there nothing to worry about?

This would seem unlikely, but with Trump literally anything is possible.

I can confirm that this is yet another memo that is circulating, and some lawyers have been aware of it since this morning. I believe it will be happening very soon, to the Philippines and a few other countries, but I don't have a timeframe on that for you. If it were me? I'd get them with you as soon as possible.

No official word yet, and no one is sure how far out this change or changes could be made: the rough list is Egypt, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Philippines, Mali, Lebanon, Columbia, and Venezuela. It is fluid and may change.

If I see something other than cnn showing this is actually being considered I will fly them here to be safe. I know people's political views obscure the facts sometimes. I posted here instead of the political forum because I am looking for a fact based non political answer. I'll be waiting to see what you guys come up with.

Hello. My fiance in the Philippines just had her K1 visa approved a few days ago.    Do you or anyone in the Philippines you know have any friends or relatives that will be coming to the USA for travel or a visa in late february or early march 2017, from Manila to USA?Specifically NEW YORK.     Ideally I'm searching for a female filipina to befriend my fiance on her flight to the USA, because she has little experience flying. Will

I don't believe a ban will happen in regards to the Philippines. The banned countries are all countries that either support radical islam or are pretty much failed states and in some way Islamic Extremists run apart of that country.

If I fly my wife and step son here next week what is a good airline to use flying to Chicago?  I want to fly them on Cathay Pacific as that is the airline I flew on and I was happy with them but between my wife and step son it will cost $2000. I know there are cheaper options but I don't know which ones are good airlines and which ones aren't.

Gosh I just looked up the prices one way from Manila to ORD and yeah Cathay Pacific is over $2k right now that is insane. I would recommend ANA, Asiana, or Korean Airlines, or even Japan Airlines. There are some cheap Middle East airlines on there BUT you would spending alot of time in the air flying from Manila to Dubai/Doha and then on to Chicago. I DO NOT recommend Gulf or Etihad at all espeically on the Manila to Abu Dhabi/Manama section of flight. They tend to use the worst plane they have and it is literally like cattle class, trust me I have done it before and I was not happy about it.
