So if someone fails their citizenship test what happens with the ROC? Does that just get approved then and the person gets their GC?

They still get ROC, failing the test for citizenship has nothing to do with ROC and you will get a 2nd chance with the test before they deny the N400.  Chances are very slim of failing, unless you don't bother revising.

Hey guys we filed to CSC Feb 27th 2017 for this I-751 nonsense and shortly after did the fingerprinting. Since then, NOTHING! Almost a year. What's going on??  One year gc extension about to expire. What then?? help.

CSC are taking around 16 months now, I know unacceptable and no they don't bother telling their customers what the delay is, until one day the customers decide they are going to join forces and sue.

As for your one year extension letter, it extends the out of date GC by a year, not the date you received the letter. You then make an info pass, try after midnight or very early morning, they tend to do 2 weeks ahead. You then  can get what is called an i551 stamp in your passport (which is actually a temporary GC, albeit a stamp) and then wait and wait and wait, oh and then wait some more.  Sorry wish I could be more positive, but you know we all shut up and put up and until we say enough then this will just carry on! :(

Thank you for your response. It's a shame they can't even do it in a year yet they cash the check in a few days. So my wife is also soon eligible to file for N400, does it even matter for the AOS at this point? Also, I've got up till May 2018 when the one year GC extension expires. Must I do what you said (info pass, i551 stamp) for my wife to remain "legal" before this expiration?

If you are eligible, you can apply for N400 while you are waiting for a ROC decision, they can be done concurrently.

Your wife is legal until a decision for ROC is made.

You only really need the stamp for international travel, however there can be problems to renew your driving licence, applying for a job, applying for a mortgage if you don't have one, as not all people or organisations know that they can e verify.   USCIS don't send a 2nd extension letter to prove your status, it is one hot mess and a total shambles.

I don't believe my husband will fail I'd just like to know what's at stake. If you fail twice and N-400 gets denied are you free to re-file and start over again with it or do you have to wait till the 5 year mark to apply for it again?

Hi guys, my info pass appointment is tomorrow and I'm a bit of panicking because I'm reading on the letter and it says to bring the appointment letter, government ID and application document. What does it mean by application documents - does it the entire packet? I'm snowed in and I don't have a printer to print the entire packet.

It depends on the purpose of your appointment I think. I didn't bring the whole packet. I was there to get i-551 stamp. Are you going for the same reason?

Yes, I'm going to get a I-551 stamp as well. My extension letter is expiring and I still don't have my acceptance / approval letter for the 10 year green card. (CSC filer)
