Hi everyone,

I have a concern hope everyone can help. I and my wife are planning for an international trip right after I submit form i-751 for her. My question is will my wife need to wait for the NOA1 and take it with her so she can show it to the U.S custom by the time we come back the U.S. Her GC would be still valid and it will be two month away from expiration by the time we reenter the U.S. Will she be ok in that situation? My concern was raised since I heard that valid passport has to be more than 6 months from expiration and i I am not sure if the same rule will apply for GC. Really appreciate for any advice. Thanks so much.

There's no such rule for Green Card. You can enter the US with a Green Card that expires the same day.

GC acquired with CR-6 condition on 1/13/15.

GC card received with Expiration of 7/19/17. I.e. 2.5 years. (My lawyer thinks this is unusual).

90-days window to apply expired in January. I realized it that I had to apply within the 3 months window before the 2 years anniversary a little late. While, I knew I had to apply in 90 days window, but I understood that was prior to the GC expiration date.

So basically I applied late. I attached an application with the reasoning. I laid out various reasons: birth of child, complications during wife's pregnancy, our relocation and finally the reason that I understood the date wrong. So here's the trail/breakdown of my application progress -- (if someone may add it into the list, that will be great). Thanks.

I-751 Dropped at USPS: Friday, 2/3/17 morning 10AM with Express Mail option

Reached USCIS, CA: Saturday, 2/4/17 11AM. Signed by someone.

Check Cashed: Wednesday, 2/8/17.

Letter received with 1 year extension: 2/10/17.

Letter stated that we have granted extension of 1 year while your condition removal/waiver is in process, unless otherwise your residency is terminated before. Notified me that I will be receiving the Biometric letter soon in the mailbox. Told me to take an ASC appointment once the letter arrives for the fingerprinting.

It didn't mention anything about interview being called with the immigration examiner or anything in that letter.

I hope its heading towards right direction as I assume that they have accepted my letter stating the reasons of the delay that resulted in missing the window to apply I-751. Please note that my original GC is still active until July 2017.

I am still a bit confused. My husband's I-751 is showing delivered 2/11 (Saturday) and signed by someone there at VSC.  If it was received on 2/11 it is considered early because the 90 window did not open until today. Some people have told me not to worry because inmigration is closed on weekends so it would actually be considered received today. Does anyone have any insight as to what is correcr?? This waiting game is killing me!

Since, its was received within the window, I don't see it to be a problem. Keep track on the online banking to see when the check is cashed. From my experience, my app was received at VSC on Saturday and check was cashed the following Wednesday.

In my case, its the Date I dropped it at USPS. USPS can add to the latency based on the delivery speed you choose. My application was received by USCIS next day.

I assume, people are giving the date they drop it at USPS?!

Saturday 2/11/17was technically 2 days outside of the window since the 90 window opened 2/13/17 :( but I am hopeful! God help us! Thanks so much! I will definitely be monitoring the account and mail!
