Take him 12 years to implement it! Lol!

Exactly what mine says, however apparently it doesn't always change when they send the approval letter.  You should hear within the month though as it seems they are processing February filers right now, well Vermont ones. Good luck! :)

Good luck to us :) i do hope we  will hear something from them

Hey all

i am so confused. Are we supposed to get our I551 stamp a couple weeks before the date on the extension letter or the date of the GC?  I have an appt on Friday but I was told by 2 USCIS officers that it’s too early as my GC expires the end of March. then 1 officer said I need to go now and not chance it. So now I am confused. Do I reschedule the appt to the end of February even though my letter is dated February 18?

I wish the officers would get on the same page and give out clear answers.

Thanks in advance!!

Congratulations! What a lovely surprise to come back too and great to know you didn't get an RFE.  Question, has your status online changed or has the date when they last touched it changed. I ask as people are receiving approvals without the case status updating and I am wondering if they leave some kind of trail, i.e the date that it was last updated.   Any way very happy for you! :)

The end of the GC plus 1 year that the letter extends it. So your GC expires end of March, so two weeks before that expiration date.  Some offices allow a month before, mine says two weeks.  Sorry there is no transparency across the board. I shake my head when they blame one of us for coming in for a stamp, when if they actually got there act together, we wouldnt have to do that, nor would my husband,  for example have to take a days vacation from work to drive me the 2 and a half hours it takes to go to the office.  Most of my husbands time off are taken either taking me to opticians, doctors or USCIS appointments, some are necessary the latter should not even have to happen!

I did. Your letter extends your GC by a year. So you can go back 2 weeks before that extensions expires.

Can someone explain to me why we need the stamp besides international travel for our pending I751?

If we are working or changing jobs can't we just show them our social security card and drivers license? We don't even need to show them the green card?

You can use your SSN if your card doesn't have 'only valid with dhs work authorization'. Otherwise you have to show you unexpired letter and expired green card under section c under the i-9, with your drivers license.

But if your letter expires, you need proof for your employer if they check. Most cases they don't really care.

Depends on driving licence state for example I need the extension letter, my expired GC and my social security number, also a bill to show I live where I live. Not sure about jobs they should be able to go online search and such, but many employers seem to be quite ignorant of what is needed and basically can give people the run around. Also, some people have gone into the office for the stamp for a mortgage.

It's for travel and for work, is what I was told. I got my stamp done earlier this week... I don't plan to travel until the summer, but during the time my 2 year GC expires, I will have just given birth so I'm not going to be able to head out to an infopass appointment.

They gave me a letter along with a stamp in my passport (I kept my GC) that says I'm able to travel and work. I recall when I had my EAD/AP and was waiting for my GC and it was close to expiring, that my HR hounded me daily to update it. Luckily my GC came in right before it expired, otherwise I wouldn't have been able to continue work. I'm not sure whether that would be the same now for a GC or if that was the case because it was a EAD/AP instead? I own my own business now so I'm not having to update those documents for HR.
