I don’t think your status expires but the stamp is your proof of status. So you wouldn’t be able to prove status easily.

Oh so we don’t need the stamp unless we plan to work and/or travel. I have my appt set but it’s a long drive with my 3 year old (for something that we technically don’t need).

Thanks for the information!!

Well, if an officer stops you technically you should always carry your green card or proof of status. I have never been stopped by an officer, and I’ve found a driving license to be enough to even fly within the USA. I’ve provided my green card when flying within the USA once and I was given it back since it was expired (didn’t even look at the letter) and they said we only need a driving license to fly within the USA.

You dont need the stamp, unless you need it for work or travel or such. It's not compulsory, you are still in status whilst your ROC is being assessed and its not the extension letter expiry date, its the date of your  expired conditional GC, the letter extends that for a year.

Thanks again for your answer but i think there is a little misunderstanding again :)

i do have all the info, my green card expired in April 2017 which means my extension letter expires in April 2018.

so again :) my question is: are they going to put a stamp in my passport in September 2018 if i want to travel in oct 2018 or i necessarily have to get a stamp before even my extension letter expires which is in April 2018?

I can't advice you whether to get a stamp in April, although you may as well if you want to prove current status without them saying your GC and letter are out of date. You can apply a month to two weeks before, depending on your field office as mine for example has told me to come in two weeks before, although most accept a month before expiration date. If you opt to go in September take your itinerary (flight details) with you.

Removal of Conditions..  TICK TOCK, TICK TOCK

Time to reset the tick tock clock again.   Roll my eyes.

GC  Conditional date:  05/26/2015

N400.  Application:      02/28/2018

Biometrics:                    02/22/2018

Waiting............    Roll my eyes again :(

Hi guys, I just scheduled my info pass appointment on 2/12 at 10:15 am - Chicago Field Office. I need to get a stamp as my extension letter is about to expire (March 2018). In the letter, it tells me what I need to bring - info pass confirmation letter, government ID's, USCIS letters. Is there anything else? Anyone who went to the Chicago Field Office? Do you mind sharing your experience? I'm taking my husband with me on that day as well. Thanks!

I am nervous so is my spouse!!!   As of 7.37 am today, I got an email from USPS' Informed Delivery Daily Digest and saw the image of US Citizenship and Immigration Services letter (from VSC).  I showed it to my spouse.   We can't wait for the postman to deliver it today.   I hope it is an approval letter.    We sent almost-500-page evidences to VSC last year (Feb 2017).

On the email of USPS, I see the image of the letter showing Statue of Liberty thru letter window.  QUESTION: Is it an approval letter or RFE letter?

I checked the USCIS website to see the status of my case and message "Case was received" still remains unchanged.

You can sign up for free if Informed Delivery is available in your area.   Post office will scan every incoming mail every day and email you with scanned images of incoming mail(s) before postman delivers mail(s) on the same day.
