Luckily my work is flexible so I don’t have to take time off for this, but imagine people who have to take time off to get a simple stamp?

 

I’m going to apply for N400 in 2 weeks, which seems to have a shorter timeline than my original GC or ROC. Will be the end of a long journey!

Yes a simple info pass and you receive the stamp, my office is 2 hours away and my husband has to take a day off work, as I don't drive in the USA. Should be quicker once you apply for the N400 concurrently as Ohio doesn't have to long a wait for it.  Good luck!

Hello everyone,

 

I know this sound maybe strange or odd but, I have a very long and hurtful journey behind me and been through some really rough times that are still going on and I don’t want to mention here any further due to personal reasons.

 

Facts are that I am going through the ROC process since almost a year (I filed in February 2017 and will get my stamp in my passport in the next few days; infopass appointment already scheduled). I haven’t heard anything from USCIS yet. I am going through this process by myself with an immigration lawyer due to the marriage not working out. (I have all my evidence of certified and faithful marriage together and I am not worried about this, the marriage with my ex husband was faithful),....

 

Long story short I have met someone in this past year and unfortunately he got arrested (US citizen) for burglary. Now the time is coming up for him to get in front of the Parole Board and I would like to help him writing a letter to the Parole Board, that I am here for him and want to have a family with this man in my future (I don’t have any kids yet; neither does he).....

 

So here is my question :

With my ROC status still pending, could it hurt my case because I write a support letter to the Parole Board for him? Would they look me up (Name, Address, maybe see that I am a foreign nationality) in the system and maybe inform USCIS about me supporting a “criminal”???

 

I don’t know what to do, because I want to help him and feel aweful, by the thought that I might can’t help him due to my status pending?

Please help me and sorry for the long post...

i don't see how it matters you helping him, after all you did not commit the crime, you are just trying to be kind.  The one reservation, or one thing that might happen is because you're not a citizen you might not be able to do so. I don't know, I have no idea how the system works, but anything to do with government i'.e jobs and such, it seems you need to be a citizen. 

 

Unfortunately, no-one can answer this for you, (unless someone proves me wrong) you need to do a lot of soul searching and research to see if you can indeed write a supporting letter and such whilst being a resident.

I'm thinking I would like to file for N400 too. I'm waiting for CSC to approve just 1 person, but it doesn't look like it'll happen soon. 

 

I'm trying to gather all my information, but for someone who is married to a US Citizen, we only have to wait for 3 years of permanent residency versus the 5 years? I'm looking at some timelines and some folks have filed for naturalization in July and had their ceremony by Oct. 

 

I'm expecting our first, due soon and would love to complete this while trying to get my life in order being a first time mom!

Approval date: Jan 04, 2018.

Firstly, you have done great posting! Secondly, CONGRATULATIONS!!!  VSC are on a roll, however I am adamant that CSC will pick up this year and if they don't I shall eat my mums old school hat, with a touch of salad cream! (school hats aren't that tasty). Sorry mum (RIP)  if i have too, but I doubt I will, just know CSC will!

So I came home from work , and yayyyy I saw the envelope ( so much tension ) rfe? Or approval?. I stood there for 10 minutes sweating deciding whether to open the letter or not. Finally open the letter. Slowly ,  first word: ‘Congratulations’
