Interesting! Thank you for sharing that! I was slightly freaking out thinking we only had a month or so to get an infopass appointment and here in Seattle that can be quite the task... CBP even said we could be fined $585 or something like that if he tried to cross after a year from the receipt date. Besides the bad info he gave us he was actually quite nice lol

Not all CBP employees are well trained enough about their job and we understand that, that is why it is better to have a documents that shows to them the real and true policy that they implemented.

It wouldn't be the first time a CBP officer got something wrong. Back before my husband and I started the immigration process and he came to visit on ESTA the CBP officer told me he couldn't let him through because he wasn't currently employed in his own country. He said that was one of the ESTA rules. I told him that's totally false and that I had read everything in regards to ESTA and nothing said he couldn't come because of being unemployed. I said i can pull it up on my smartphone and show you if you like. After that he let him through.

Hey,

Thank you guys for clarifying all the information about the passport stamp for us. The fact that the letter extends (let's say) your GC for another year makes a lot more sense than extending your CPR status for another 1 from the date that you received the extension letter. Thank you, again!

I checked their website for an "accurate" processing time but the website hasn't been updated in awhile, do you guys have any idea of when they will start processing our cases from February, 2017 (CSC) ?

They are literally on the end of August 2017 in California. Our only hope is that some people think they will be speeding up soon because they transferred a bunch of other visa applications from Vermont and California to Texas. I think we have awhile still. :(

I just called the 800 number and was told it's a year from the receipt date. I am really annoyed and confused as I am starting a job next week and ignored this because I thought it was clear that the expiration was in May. If so many USCIS employees are claiming it's in February, I don't know whether my new employer will also feel that way. I tried to self-check on e-verify but it says there isn't enough information to generate security questions.

Hi,

I wouldn’t worry about it. It doesn’t make a lot of sense for your status to be extended  only until the expiration of your extension letter. The letter extend your status as a CPR, without the letter your status would have expired back in May, 2017 so it’s logical for the letter to extend your status until May, 2018.

Otherwise, people that, instead of applying for the ROC 3 months before the expiration of the GC, applied for the ROC only 1 month before, would have their status for another 2 months, just because(?!).  Kinda confusing, sorry, haha!

Typical for the mis-information line.

Letters issued from June (ish) 2017 onwards now have wording clarifying it is one year from expiry of the card.

CR1 / DCF (London): 2012 / 2013 (4 months from I-130 petition to visa in hand)

I-751 #1- April 2015 [Denied]

April 2015 : I-751 Joint filing package sent fedex next day 09:00am from UK ($lots - thanks).
Jan 2017: Notification that an interview has been scheduled at a local office. Bizarrely still no RFE...
Jan 2017: 2hr wait, then interview terminated before it began, due to moving my ID to another state 2 wks prior. New interview 'in a few months...maybe.'   Informed them that divorce proceedings are underway, but not finalised at this time.
March 2017: An Interview was scheduled - marked as no-show as they didn't actually send out a notification of interview. FML
April  2017: Filed an official complaint with the ombudsman, and have requested Senator & Congressman assistance
August 2017: Interview - switched to a (finalised) divorce waiver. Told that decision will be made that afternoon, but no problems foreseen with my case.
October 2017: Letter of Denial received - reason given as 'I-751 petition was not properly filed'. Discovered ex-spouse made false allegations to USCIS in 2015. No opportunity given to review & refute allegations  - contrary to USCIS policy.

I-751 #2 - Oct 2017 - Mar 2021[Denied]

October 2017: Within 72hrs of receiving denial notice, a new waiver I-751, divorce decree & $680 cheque, sent to Vermont via FedEx overnight 9am priority.
Dec 2019: Filed FOIA request for full A# file
Feb 2020: FOIA request completed - entire A# file received as a .PDF; 197 pages fully redacted, and 80 partially redacted. Don't waste your time!
March 2021: I-751 #2 denied for lack of evidence. No RFE, no interview, and evidence in previous I-751 not reviewed - contrary to policy. Huge errors in adjudication.

N-400 - Feb 2018 - Apr 2021 [Denied]

February 2018: N-400 filed online.  $725 paid to the USCIS paperwork wastage fund

February  2019: Interview - cancelled after a four hour wait due to 'missing paperwork' on their end. Promised Expedited reschedule.

March 2021: Interview letter received, strangely dated after I-751 denial. No I-751 interview conducted. N-400 interview and test passed, given 'cannot make a decision at this time' paper due to the ongoing I-751 nightmare...

April 2021: N-400 denial received citing recent I-751 denial as basis for ineligibility, even though it should have been a combo interview 🤯

I AM JACK'S COMPLETE LACK OF SURPRISE

Service Motion - March 2021 [Sent via FedEx & COMPLETELY IGNORED by USCIS]

March 2021: Service Motion request sent overnight addressed direectly to field office director, requesting urgent review and re-opening, based on errors in adjudication - citing USCIS policy, AFM and memorandums as basis for errors. This was completely ignored by USCIS.

 I-751 #3 - June 2021 - Jan 2024 [Denied]

IT'S GROUNDHOG DAY

June 2021: I-751 #3 (30+lbs/5000 pages of paperwork) & another $680 sent to USCIS via FedEx ($300+..thanks) ....

June 2021: Receipt issued, card charged, biometrics waived, infopass scheduled for I-551 stamp number ten.....

Feb 2022: RFIE (no, not an RFE, a Request For Initial Evidence) received, for copies of the divorce paperwork that they already have 😑

July 2022: Infopass for I-551 stamp number eleven.....

August 2023: Infopass for I-551 stamp number twelve....

January 2024: Denial received, ignoring the overwhelming majority of the filing, abundance of evidence, and refutation of a provably false allegation. The denial also contradicts itself in multiple places, as if it was written by someone with an IQ <50.

HAPPY NEW YEAR

2024: FML. Seriously. I'm done.

Where  did you file? Aldo, did you sign up for informed delivery through USPS? That scans your mail before you receive it and sends it to your email box, do you know if you have a letter from USCIS.

Hi Shell, I sent my package to Laguna Niguel, CA - is this the California Service Center? Yes, I've signed up with the Informed Delivery by USPS specifically for this. Where did you file and what date did they receive your packet?

Yes, it's CSC, unfortunately you have another couple of months or so to wait. I filed on 22 me of Feb, NOA 1 date was 28 Feb, to Vermont, so with current time scales, I should be due to hear within next couple of months, but all processing times are subject to change.

As a fellow Feb 17 filer, I went to eat my stamp at the Minneapolis/St. Paul office recently.  No hassle at all, friendly staff, and in general a great experience.  Felt weird to let the GC go but at least now I’m free to roam the globe until CSC decides to process my papers.  The guy only asked why I needed it - he accepted my reasoning that I won’t book a ticket abroad for leisure or work until I’m certain that I can return without any issues.

He he said that they’re are interviewing more and more people now (due to the new administration than they previously did).

ROC Packet delivered 2/24/2017 - GC Expiration 5/20/2017.

NOA - 2/27

Firstly, did that stamp taste good? :P

We are also located in the Minneapolis metro. Although we don't plan to get the stamp until a month before the GCs 1 year expiry date. We don't really need it for anything unless his current employer asks for it. I don't like the sound of more interviews. Ugh. Also they take away your current GC??
