Well my auto refinance application has been denied because my entension letter is about to expire in 3 months. I sent USCIS an email via the website and ask when they’ll send my 10-year green card, but I’d assume that will take forever for them to respond. I’m currently fully employed and now I’m wondering what I need to do. Someone suggested before that I need to get a stamp... is there a more specific name for this “stamp” and is this still the best route to take?

Hi everyone!

Sorry if my question has been answered before - I filtered through the forum and can't seem to find something that fits my request.

I filed for ROC in February 2017 (my conditional green card expired in April 2017).

I don't have international trips planned before September 2018 so I'm not too worried about getting a stamp but how about work? Am I still legal to work in the US even if my green card has expired and my ROC hasn't been lifted? Do I need to apply for a specific form?

The CSV is processing cases from July 2016, making me doubt mine will be processed by 02/2018 or 04/2018. I passed biometrics no problem and when I check my status online, the message "Your fees have been waived". I called USCIS about it and they said it was a mistake.  Should I submit a special request?

Thank you for reading and for your time!

You know your extension letter you got when you filed ROC; that letter is basically serves as your employment authorization till you get your 10 year card. For example when you go for new jobs you can present your drivers license or state ID AND expired green card WITH extension letter that's considered a List C document. You'll have to explain to the employer about what the extension letter is for and that it is a valid list c document. My hubby is currently changing jobs right now and we filed ROC in February so he will be bringing these items to the orientation.

They really need a better system for ROC or better protocols and instructions for these types of scenarios. We shouldn't have to put up with all this stress because USCIS can't get their ####### together. Hubby is changing jobs right now and will be bringing his extension letter with expired GC to orientation since it's a valid list c document hopefully they don't give him a hard time because it's up in February but technically I think it states in the letter it's actually good until one year after expiration of the GC I'll have to double check.

What I am confused about is that the letter says "your conditional resident status is extended for a period of one year. During the one-year extension you are authorized employment and travel".

So the letter is proof enough to keep my employment even if I do not receive my 10 year green card before the letter expires on February 2nd?

It’s one year from the expiration of the green card. Not one year from the date on the letter.

Everyone was so confused by this that USCIS changed the text of the letter in June 2017 ish. Here's the new text of the letter:

WHat an awesome story! It would have been so much nicer if they would have sent it directly after it was found.

It is an awesome and bizarre story but totally true!  Could have knocked me down with a feather and yes if they had sent it back straight away, I would saved around £500 and so much heartache.

I've noticed that some January filers are starting to get their approvals. Crossing my fingers that some of us will start to hear after the holidays!

Be interesting to see who the first approval is and when. It wont be me as I filed the latter part of Feb and I think i will get an RFE.  Probably not going to be CSC filers until they play catch up.  So long since i saw the list of who filed but i would gladly pick a name out of the hat just for fun!

A January CSC filer was approved.

It unfortunately is a rarity.  However i did go into another thread today, I think the December 2016 one and found some interesting figures regarding DACA.  They doubled in the last year, however most have been approved and as California covers Texas and California it might be the case California have fallen behind. ROC figures show only half the applicants were approved.

If this information is correct and its DACA that is holding California behind, then surely after they have finished processing DACA, (cut off date Oct, extended to a few due to a mail problem i think without looking) then surely there will be a sudden flurry of approvals for California and everyone knows they are quick once they have played catch up!  I like to remain positive for all the California applicants and bring that positivity into the New Year.

Only half of DACA was approved? And wow that's unbelievable someone from CSC got approval already. Hopefully it really speeds up now.
