If you  haven't received your 10 year card and its 90 days before the  1 year anniversary of your conditional GC expiry date, then you can file N400, they can be concurrent.

In Layman terms you can apply for N400 in Feb, needs to be 90 days before the expiry date on your conditional GC plus 1 year, not a day before or they will send it back. And you can do this even if you have not received your 10 year card.

lol let's keep our fingers crossed!! 😊

Just noticed that they are currently processing June 2016 applications. That means that they are about 14 months behind.

Lets suppose, the delay persists, what happens when our extension gets expired after 12 months receiving the Receipt Notice? Do we become out of status? What if we would need to travel during that time?

The letter extends the expiry date on your green card by one year. If that extended expiry date is getting close and you still haven't been approved, you'll have to make an INFOPASS at your local office to get an I-551 stamp.

Good question. I presume a year. I had my card stolen just before ROC and had to get a stamp and its for a year. Not sure how long once your extension has run out though, I would imagine its the same.

Not sure which service centre you mean.  VSC are processing August, July, June the whole lot.  Today according to visa journey CSC have processed a case from September I would think most cases will be processed within a year. If you need to travel then you will need an i551 stamp in your passport or on a card if your passport has expired.  I feel that you probably wont need to do that, but Im the ever eternal optimist believing that sooner or later they will catch up to the 6 month processing time they have said in the past they hope to achieve.

Hello, i applied for a mortgage. It's only on my name since my US citizen husband just changed his job (not on the same line). We're on the process of closing soon (late Sept). All my docs looks good according to my lender. My score is in 700's, 2 years in my job too. My lender said my file was approve on the underwriting was approve. However they need an un expired GC and said that extension letter won't work. Anyone have experience on this? Can't we use the extension letter for mortgage application? USCIS still working on July 2016 so I'm thinking we will get approval in Feb next year.

You could always get a state ID if it's a photo ID issue.
