It's probably just better to turtle and let the offensive poster keep talking down to you rather than pointing out the way they are behaving. Would that be less hypocritical for you?

I'm not saying it isn't hard. In the past I think I've been "moderated" when I ended up doing the exact same thing. I got frustrated with the way someone else was acting and then ended up attacking them back. Some people (myself included at times) enjoy trying to get people to that edge.

It is better, when possible, to continue on the "high road" and try to be as mature as possible. I never said the person you were responding to didn't deserve what you said, but what you said was still a "personal attack". Once both people are using personal attacks the conversation is essentially over (though you can argue it is over as soon as the first person resorts to it).

So my short answer would be yes, it would be less hypocritical. I only took issue with the fact that you said you were being civil right after you stooped down to the next level. You could have also said something more like "You are acting really inappropriate" or "I don't appreciate your tone" or something without resorting to phrases like "Petulant child" which is clearly intended as an insult.

I realize that I still sometimes expect more from these forums. I can't believe I've only been around here since November.

well, this is probably best a convo for pm but..you can be doing your best not to offend and still get comments deleted or put in time out. just depends on who you're talking to. getting reprimanded here is pretty frustrating, especially when you're just defending yourself as others do.

well, that made me blush, i'm shy so bit uncomfortable, but i like you so i don't know. has my ability to enjoy this thread been compromised? i think so. i get passive aggressive vibes from "awfully"

The only thing that is not a TOS violation is telling Val to make you a sammich. :content:
